What many on here have stated is that we want somebody to take on defenders. Why would you want Commons out wide? Commons should always be kept in through the middle.

    Utter, utter nonsense.

Not only is that completely off the mark, but, you can't also seriously judge a player on 10 minute cameos. :97:

He came on last week, set up one and score a perfectly good goal which would have tied the game.

People seem to have a vendetta against the guy, yet kiss Guidetti's erse when he has been inefficient in the box for a good month and a bit now.

Scepovic hasn't been scoring and that is the point, and he certainly has had more than ten minute cameos, he had had ample thirty minute sub appearances, so be factual please.

Balde scored just about as many goals as Scepovic has, there is not that much that difference between the two, and I wouldn't be suprised if we offload Scepovic in January. As McGuire would say he is a big diddy.:smiley-laughing002:

What are you basing it on though?

I'm not just debating this for the sake of it, I genuinely don't know how people can make a judgement on him after 1 or 2 starts domestically?

Even in Europe he has done reasonably well, could easily have 3 in 3 if not for some ridiculous luck.

Comparing him to Balde is just too far.

Yes but what many on here would like most is for the best players available to play the positions. Commons is tried and tested and delivered on the left countless times. Griffiths is striker. Not someone you stick wide right to skin players because what he is ultimately best at, is sticking the ball in the pokey. And playing up top he'll do that. Wide right he doesn't perform at his best. Not his fault, but Ronnys.

    So, your words..

"With what he had to choose from with injuries and suspensions, Griffiths on the left was the best he could do"

Wrong, Griffiths wasn't the best option, when Commons and Stokes have been better on the wide positions more than Thumb.

I am basing it on simply Scepovic's lack of goals and his lack of heart to make things happen for himself, he ain't doing it, and obviously Deila sees it this way too as he is continually benching a big priced player.

I don't think the Balde comparison is off the mark in any shape or form.
In fact, I would go as far as saying at least Balde showed some heart and appetite for the cause.

You keep repeating to yourself and others if only Scepovic was luckier or if his goal ( one goal ? ) was not chalked off. That is just suppositions and only muddies the water.

    1. Frustrating, indeed.

    2. Two crap results though Dundee Utd have only lost once at home all season and Top Vs Bottom games are reputable for being banana skins.

    3. Next two away games on TV will provide a clearer picture. (No pun intented to streams)

    4. I've read/heard comments from some deluded/overconfident fans stating we'll get past Inter Milan. Reasons that Inter ain't quite the team of old and they're languishing mid-table Serie A.

Very slim chance of going through playing as we are. Results had improved, we got through in Europe but weren't dominant against two less than average sides. The results we had consistently built up we're against poor teams in our lowly league, but they key to it all is performances.

Getting past Inter would require us to be consistent against the drivel we see, week in week out, but also look dominant and play incisive football along with the grinding or hard fought games.

Consistent results have allowed some fans to become complacent. Have the players became complacent? Possibly. If so, DU and RC were games that show what can happen but the biggest loss comes from the development of playing convincing football.

Hopefully this is just a blip and we can continue getting results and developing better cohesion and having that clinical edge we require to have a chance to progress past Inter.

Time is ticking, less than 8 weeks to ramp it up!

Look. How can I be as happy as I was earlier today ? Why should I always praise us ? We drew at home to bottom team in a league we should walk with our players and our budget. I know that slip ups happen from time to time this is why I'm not frustrated. Rangers pumping was brilliant, this was *. What do you expect ?

Besides let's be real here...2 points clear going into new year was not what most of you had in mind when you said "If Ronny won't be top after christmas I'll be calling for his head". He earned my support through his passion and some of the result but you surely can see that we play slow, we can't defend and often can't break teams and to be honest there is 0 progress when it comes defending. I really don't know what you expect me to write after todays result.

I would still stick with Griffiths though. Commons wouldn't have done much better out wide this game. Commons can be suspect of slowing down the game at times. I see him as a back up to Johansen. Going by what you want then it should have been McGregor starting out wide surely. If Commons started on the left today everyone would have complained that Stokes has been moved and then that Commons is too slow to be out wide. You probably would have complained too. Griffiths was the best option for today.

you were saying stuff like "this is fantastic", "this is amazing" in the hun thread today, I've never seen you post anything nearly as joyful in Celtic Chat. :smiley-laughing002:

Just an observation mate but you might get more happiness out of supporting whoever is playing Sevco any given week. :icon_mrgreen:

    Don't be ridiculous Sean.

I've said things like that many times. Just not this season...you can imagine why. Although, there were results where I was in Euphoria - Aberdeen away was one of them. Please, don't question my supporting. I'm the guy who wants Celtic to win everything, even a "pointless" friendly as every single win creates our history, makes our name known. I am a negative person in real life, that is why I often sound negative after a loss or a draw because at times I'm really devastated...I put my heart in every match, trust me mate.

Sell ambrose and mcgregor. Drop Guidetti and Biton for one game and play Scepovic and Henderson.

Am getting the feeling your one of them fans with the green goggles on, totally biased towards Celtic and can't see no wrong. Reminds me of those annoying biased * on Celtic tv. No offence intended :smiley-laughing002:

Commons could of made a huge difference to this game, there has been countless games where teams have sat back like they did today and we have nobody better in the squad that can unlock a defence as good as Commons. He's the kind of player who can even be performing horrible yet still pop up way a brace, very experienced. Even from the left he's proving he can play there and play there well although his best is centrally.

The simple fact for me is, Commons and Stokes can play the wide roles much better than la Thumb, and both were available, so both should of been ahead for those positions yo! La Thumb is not poor out wide though yo, just not as good as the other two.

Your defending Ronny to the hilt even though he, for me continually makes the wrong call putting our best finisher in a wide position.

A reckon Ronny D is giving you the D:smiley-laughing002:

Just a frustrating day today. Controlled the game without ever really looking like scoring. We were poor but admittedly the constant flow of injuries and incessant timewasting by County really broke up the flow to the game and made it difficult for us. I'll put today down as a blip, there wasn't an awful lot which would give me cause for concern in the long run as all the top teams across Europe have days like this, and we've been guilty of games like this at home plenty of times in recent years. You certainly won't find me calling for the managers head or slating us as "the worst Celtic team in x number of years" as so many on here and at the game were.
