Not even read any of the previous posts before composing this one. Before I even breach the subject of what happened on the field.

I stood/sat and watched through some of the worst times this club has seen and will likely see. Until yesterday, never have I felt so angry and annoyed by the manner of how the support(minority or majority) conducted themselves. So hostile an atmosphere towards the team they were supporting and that was noticed from sitting a section from the GB. Booing the players off at half-time, then applauding them onto the field for the 2nd half. Booing the managers subbing of Rogic(without knowing the reasons for it) the same sub he's made in previous games. He could have taken a number of people off, probably the only one which would satisfy the "blood thirsty" would be Johansen. Who played well , looking to go forward with passes and driving forward with the ball at the Thsitle defence.

The number of people who hung about rather than the usual * off before the final whistle. They stayed for one thing and one thing only. They weren't expecting/hoping to cheer a Celtic goal.

Onto the field,it wasn't good enough. Blame Ronny by all means but when players let themselves down then what does Ronny or any other manager do.

Folk keep talking about our defence but today if previous games weren't evident enough, the lack of quality in the attacking third is brutal. Cannot play a pass, no movement of note, running across players paths and not supporting the ball carrier. When you struggle you look to certain individuals to make the difference. Griffiths done it after passing up a few opportunities. After him not much else.

Where was Commons today? I'll tell you where he was. Hiding and doing enough just to show prominence. When in fact he was cheating his teammates and the fans with his contribution. The same he's been doing under Ronny for a while. Yes' he's scored 90 odd goals when it was all going well. Not interested in doing that now. His mini tantrum at Molde away, has protected his inability or lack of commitment to his teammates and manager, with the fans.

Next in line is Biton. Was his challenge for the 2nd yellow worthy of it?? Given previous fouls for similar went unpunished, I would question the consistency of the referee. I would also question Biton for his discipline, on putting himself in that position. Was it deliberate attempt to get sent off??? I don't usually wonder about it. Yesterday , has me asking that very question.

You can blame a manager for formations etc. Is it his fault players make wrong choices?? McGregor can't play a 5yrd pass onto Tierney's run?? Or find the net from 10 yards out??? Players passing up the opportunities through poor execution of technique or mentality ?? He has a slight influence, but cannot make the ultimate decision on the park.

Ending on a positive. Young Tierney continues to grow into his role. In the last few games he's been picked upon by teams trying to bully him through his slight stature. Almost every goal kick or switch of play was played down to his side. The young lad has competed and rose to the challenge on every occasion. Not being put off or demoralised with the constant scrutiny of his ability.

An example for those on the park with him and those off it.

We're always focused on our own side, but I think Thistle has improved a lot. It is a much better side than the one we played in August, never mind last year and they got their tactics exactly right. Bannigan impressed me for instance.

    Great post Hoopswithpride.

Do you think the fans are starting to turn on Ronny? I mean this sounds like a new thing? You're so right about Tierney, I love how he's handling the pressure and gives his all every game I've seen him. He's quite fearless. Pity to hear about Commons, he can be so influencial for us I would like to think he'd try his best to get involved at every opportunity. There's a few players who are dying to play that position so he should be careful.

If Commons had a manager he respected and played him in his best position then we would get our best out of him. His record speaks for itself.

It has to be said that Tierney has been so impressive it might not be too far fetched to say we might have seen the last of Izzy starting games.

Hoops, good post and I agree with pretty much you are saying and prob sums up how most supporters are thinking. However booing the team at half time is borne out of frustration of what was on show. Supporters are just letting the team and management they are not happy with what they saw, but applauding them back on the field for the second half is showing they are still getting behind the team.
Good players don't become bad players overnight. Johansen has went from POTY to having a shocker of a season. Commons anonymous, players unable to pass or see a killer pass. There has to be something fundamentally wrong with the coaching. Commons plays best when he sits behind the strikers and has a free role to play. We don't play a high enough tempo although for the first 10 mins against Hearts we had shown we can. Ronny is too set in his ways, some what stuborn to change. We are too rigid and inflexible as a team to change when things are not working out. It seems sometimes the players are trying too hard to make Ronnys system work but to the point that they look lost, getting on top of each other , too many times getting caught out of position. If we can see it and feel the frustration that its not working then the players must do to. If he hasn't lost the dressing room then it wont belong before he does. Things really do have to change.
It wasn't a great tactical win yesterday with Griff getting the winner, we were simply lucky. Everyone could see Ciftci just hasn't got it to play upfront on his own, it didn't take tactical genius to change it. If the league was stronger there is no doubt we would be struggling but the standard of the league has regressed as much as we have. If we can be top at the turn of the year whilst playing so poorly no wonder we are not in Europe after Xmas. We simply don't meet the standard required to progress in Europe.
But you are right though, the shining light so far this season has been the progress of young Tierney. Gives his all every game he plays, an example even to seasoned pros. I give the coaching staff praise for that.

Apparently he is a regular in the Black Bull in Cambuslang.

If you know it then you know what I mean.
