I think we all know that anyway, which will come as we get more games under our belt. It's only natural really. However, he did say he was pleased with our second half display.

Exactly, overall the match wasn't great however it'll take time for him to change the style of play and really build the team.

I agree with you about his honesty. I'm delighted that he just tells it as it is in his interviews. I think Lennon would have thought the same as Deila about last night, in regards to the way we played, but he would have kept it to himself when being interviewed.

Anyone expecting last night to be a great performance is living in a fantasy land in my opinion. As you say, it's going to take time for Deila to really put his own stamp on the team.

    Yes, mate, exactly.

But this should be expected by every manager and not admired. The fans deserve to know the reason for poor performances from their clubs manager and want to hear them say there must be improvement.

I agree with you, his game isn't suited to playing as an orthodox No10 and that shows in Europe, where his best games have come playing from the right. He is good ghosting in onto his strong left foot and having a second longer to make a pass but really struggles through the middle.

Would like to see McGeouch given a shot in an attacking midfield role because I think he could really offer something there. Even McGregor might be better at 10 than Commons these days.

The reason for poor performances are quite often unknown in my opinion. There won't be a player in our team that goes out to play badly, but they aren't robots at the end of the day, and poor displays will occur throughout the season, that goes for every single team in world football. As long as the don't happen regularly, then it's not a major issue.

I don't think Deila was too disappointed with last night if I'm honest, and why would he be. We have come away with a clean sheet, and scored an away goal. At this stage of the season, results are all that matter, and last night was a positive result. Performance wise it could have been a lot better, but that will come with games. As I already said, on a different night, we could have come away with a few more goals, and nobody would be talking about our overall performance in my opinion.

We've a long way to go if Ronny is to get more out of these players than Lennon did.
Obviously missing Brown has hindered him greatly, I think the Captain is really onboard with what the manager wants.
I honestly think if we're to improve in the way Ronny wants, then we need to ship out a fair few players - Stokes I'd especially like rid of.
Hope McGregor's goal can help push him & other youngsters on a bit more. The youth/fringe players really seem to be energised by the new manager & I'd love to see them kick on...just hope the fans can give them the time they'll need to prove themselves.

Completely disagree with this. Any professional football manager should know why a poor performance occurred. Whether it is incorrect tactics, lack of motivation or players not playing up to standard or simply were outclassed.

I don't know what makes you so optimistic it will get better. This is hardly a new team here, new manager yes, but relatively Lennon's team minus arguably two of his best, Wanyama and Hooper. And with another of our best, Forster, soon to be replaced with Craig Gordon:smiley-laughing002:

I watched that last night and thought that with arguably a weaker side than last season, particularly if no Samaras and more so VD and an injured Broony is it really expecting too much to do any better than last seasons dreadful showing in the CL

I will be delighted if we merely just get in it for financial reasons never mind getting any points in the group.

A few fresh more experienced faces are needed and I hope Delia will address this, if he does not then I would suggest he doesn't have funds which will answer why Lennon departed in the way he did.

A lot of question marks but only time will tell.

Just hope we have better young players than we think as we are going to need them and to be honest without arguing against myself that would give me more pleasure than seeing any new players.

Hopefully the manager can take from it, that Stokes is unfit & lazy & look to replace him next week?

We're moving on, but it's going to be a while before we see our best team this season.
The games against Dresden, St. Pauli & Spurs will also be important in working out our 1st eleven I think.

    MacGREGOR FOULING

This appeared on Wiki last night under Calum MacGregor:-

"McGregor shat himself on his Celtic debut in a Champions League qualifier against Icelandic club KR Reykjavik which finished 1-0."

Did anyone notice any mess?? I thought he played really well. :smiley-laughing002:
