If we don't sign any decent players this window we are going to be * for the group stage, last nights game was EXACTLY the same as the qualifying games last year. Last year I knew we never had the quality to compete, you could blatantly see that. Nothing was addressed, we didn't sign the players we needed and look what happened.

    This can't happen again

    Spot on:50:

The fans are being well and truly conned with this garbage. Hooper, Wanyama and Samaras to this! You couldn't make it up.

    No wonder Lennon left!

Forster, Virgil and Lustig. The rest could leave and be replaced in time for the first League match!

I agree, never felt so distant from a Celtic squad in all my life.
It's just one game though. And our players are in holiday mode while the mighty Reykjakcickc (sp) are on proper form 10 odd games into their season so we done great:smiley-laughing002:
Usual fans making pathetic excuses and accepting the bare minimum.

To be honest though, they just aren't good enough. The talent is simply not there no matter if they do decide to turn up or not. And we all know who's fault that is.

If some fans aren't worried by the clear lack of talent we have in our team at the moment then there is something seriously wrong

"Some fans" are just realistic about the league we play in, our budget and the problems both of them cause our ability to bring in genuine quality.

We also know that proper mediocrity is only round the corner so we are enjoying the success we are having now before it all goes away again.

    We are obviously * idiots.

I think we're more than capable of qualifying with the squad we've currently got. Sure, we lack a truly creative spark in the midfield like a Lubo or Naka, but those are difficult to come by on our budget. We could sign a couple of players in other areas aswell, but come on, we're actually not that bad at all.

Why do some people have this obsession with putting us down all the time? People were saying this time last year when Hooper, Wanyama and Wilson went we wouldn't qualify, but we still did, and I'm confident we'll still do so this year. On paper, we're better than any team we will face, so why shouldn't we qualify?

What do you regard as 'proper' mediocrity? And how can you possibly predict what will happen in the future....What a ridiculous statement to make. Please * don't bring up the 90s again!! the happy clappers favorite line to use when things aren't going great.

    Now you're getting it!:smiley-laughing002:

Eh, finishing 4th or 5th in the league, getting put out of Europe at the first hurdle to some nomark team from the * end of nowhere.

    you know, mediocrity.

I certainly don't see mediocrity as being a team racking up league titles, playing on the grandest stage of them all and more often than not punching way above our weight when there.

There was only ten years between us being a European powerhouse and the start of the - yes you guessed it - the dreaded 90s.

That * can easily come again, so if you don;t mind I'll carry on enjoying this unbridled success we are having just now and keep hoping we can get better.

Knew it, dim witted fans are so predictable with the same old rhetoric they spout on a daily basis. I think you fail to grasp that the 90s was a completely different era of football. When money wasn't absolutely everything which meant more teams could give us a run for our money.

I do not even know why I am discussing this with someone who thinks we could possibly be soon be finishing 4th or 5th in the SPL!!

You just keep celebrating our 'unbridled' success, you're the type of fan people like Lawwell love and constantly pander to because he knows you will accept realistic mediocrity. Calling that squad mediocre is giving them compliment, they are worse than mediocre.

But not as bad as the 90s eh? So we all good!

I think you underestimate the effect players like Efe, Izzy, Brown and Commons had on our European campaigns over the last two seasons, however i do agree our Front line is full of distinctly average players who know there level is SPL, Derk when he plays never impresses me, Pukki is the same, Stokes and Griffiths aren't good enough for Europe and shooders can be good on his night or be completely useless

One game into Deila's reign, one game. And it was an away win in Europe!

Yet here we are doing this *.

It would be funny if it wasn't so * tragic.

I think you will find it was the performance, lack of depth, and talent in our squad people are concerned about.

Yes yes yes. If his vision ever makes it to the field, will be a glorious day.

I knew we'd qualify last year, actually I was confident we would and expected a team like Celtic to do so. But I was nearly made the fool because we just about scraped through against a team where Bangura was the star man, and a team that included a bunch of Borat part timers from Kazakhstan FFS! In those games we were absolutely dire and were BEGGING for some quality to be brought in. Nothing happened and we were brushed aside like we were nothing in the group stage.

This year qualification has started again and its already looking like a carbon copy of last years campaign. Now i'm not saying the same thing is going to happen but our first team right now is looking devoid of any quality or intelligence. Our team just now looks soley dependent on Commons ffs, he can do the business in Scotland and against these minnows but can't deliver in the group stage and thats been proven over the last 2 years.

With Wanyama we had a player that wasn't creative but was a class above everyone else. He lead the team and drove others on with his quality. His impetus is something we now lack. Even when we did have him we still lacked a CAM but at least he brought something different with his energy and beast levels. Last night I was begging for someone to do something. It felt like a snails game, no one was doing *. Just passing it backwards and forwards incapable of doing anything clever or taking anyone on. Funnily enough one of the very few times someone took the game by the scruff of the neck we scored.

We need a winger, an attacking midfielder and another striker to have any chance imo. I kno theyre not all easy to come by but either Deila needs to get the absolute maximum from this lot, Pete needs to get the finger out, or Park and co better start getting to finding these diamonds or it won't happen for us im afraid.

I'll support Deila fully and hope everything turns out good but for now I'm slightly worried, I don't want a repeat of last years CL - its just how I
