So remove Soro from the position he has excelled in the last few games since he came in and put him in an unfamiliar position, doesn't make sense. When Brown came back in for the Cup Final he was spent after 35 minutes, the second half he was the reason Hearts were allowed to come.back into it. We will miss Brown's leadership but much prefer Soro,s energy, youth and no fear attitude.

 

A big risk of Brown playing exists. Might as well have both him and Soro.

 

Brown Has been an absolutely brilliant servant to the club but should be no where near the Celtic starting 11 ever again, the only time brown should be used as he’s getting phased out is in a situation like today, guys like McGregor, soro or Turnbull have put in a right good shift we are 3-0 up games won, take these guys off last 15-20 minutes to avoid any daft injury s and put brown, for a bit of organising and see the game comfortably out

 

it was a confident looking performance in the first half second was pish,the same problems are still there not creating enough goal scoring opportunities and still weak at the back. barkas was shocking at the attempt they had where jullien ran into the post he needs sold asap while griff and eddy didnt really get going they combined well for the 3rd . i get that we just won 3-0 and lennon finally seems to be playing the best team at his disposal in a formation that suits them but there is a huge scope for improvment,christ if frimprong could cross a ball

I came on to see if the team was out yet and found it was all over and everyone purring about what a good game it had been.

 

Phone was on the blink all day.. Good performance but still giving away a few easy opportunities..

Still nowhere our best but its getting better.. Soro and Turnbull are the * business

 

I completely disagree. We’ll have zero width and hence zero threat to their full backs, giving them licence to bomb on when suits them.

Even if one of our strikers is dragged out into the space out wide their other fullback will be able to tuck in to cover the second striker with no one on the other side to prevent them doing that.

We might overrun them in the centre of the park but they’ll feel the 3 midfielders will be able to screen their defence well enough to cope, especially since they can stay narrow due to zero pace out wide. A worthy price to pay for them to give their full backs free reign against Laxalt and Frimpong considering how poor we have been at defending balls in from this area.

If we expect Frimpong and Laxalt to provide width like they do against Dundee United it will be a massacre unless their front 3 have an absolute stinker. Laxalt struggles to provide appropriate width even against poor teams due to his terrible positioning so it will expose us for little return IMO.

Ultimately if we can somehow defend from out wide and have the game of our lives through the middle it could work, but I see it as highly unlikely.

 

On another day we could easily have lost two goals (the two one on one chances) and gave away a penalty (Bitton with the daft shove). We could and should have scored a lot more too tbf.

 

If they want to bomb their fullbacks on then they will struggle if they lose possession. We will have an extra man in midfield and we will be 3 v 3 on counter. Good luck to them going man for man against Eddy, Griff and Turnbull. Griff and Eddy can drift wide dragging their CB’s apart, Davis will be a burst baw trying to cover the middle overload. They will need their full backs defending and going two on Eddy.

With Soro, we basically have a back 5 that covers their front three and their two fullbacks, if they both push on.
We then have the top of the diamond, Davis likely running about worrying about Turnbull, then we are man for man, Christie/McGregor vs Kamara/Aribo.

Our players, man for man, are better than theirs and if we execute as we should be, this formation clearly works far better than 4231 or 3-5-2.

It’s all opinions at the end of the day. Let’s see how it plays out but I’d put money on that mob needing to change shape before we do.

Stop the presses that is 2 legitimate quality performances in a row. The first half in particular maybe the best we have played this season yet. The movement and speed of play from the midfield 4 was excellent and Frimpong actually gave us width looking to get beyond the full back most of the time. We will see how that translates into Saturday but at least there is some belief in the team.
