Absolutely against the diamond, particularly if we are planning on playing it vs the Huns, they're strongest out wide and it is a a shift and half for our wide Cm's to get outwide & support our full backs, plus its not just a formation u can turn out.

Also agreed that i'm not sure why people are putting Turnbull further back they way when he's been a baller in 10, * changing that.

I like Turnbull in the 10 but I think you nullify Christie's strengths (shots from <25 yards and link-up play with strikers) and exacerbate his weaknesses (ball retention and pass selection) when he plays further back.

    We
Think we were right to let Gordon go, the real error was not going all out to convince Forster to return. More expensive, but proven quality, experience and a big-game player.

Get him off the pitch then, no point * up Turnbull’s best attributes further up the pitch. Turnbull’s won his place in attacking midfield, he shouldn’t be moved away from there.

I wouldn't be against that if we had other feasible alternatives.

The only other option we have to play the 8 is Henderson IMO. Which I can't see Lennon picking.

Henderson is a great shout, and I want to see him come into it, after the Rangers game.

That’s why I said Ntcham for Dundee United, cos why * not, tell the * he’s playing for a move.

I suppose we will never get to know exactly what happened and how far we were willing to push the boat out for Forster but, anyhow, whatever happened, it left us in the *

The stakes are too high for us to roll the dice in the hope that the waster graces us with a little effort for his big wages.

I'd much rather place trust in Henderson than give him any more starts. Henderson put in a shift for us and didn't look out of place at all against Lille.

I tend to agree, I’d rather Henderson.

At this point I think it’s more important to let Christie know he can be dropped than whoever we put in there to face United.

Think ntcham (I know) could be a revelation in that flat midfield 3 beside soro and McGregor. Turnbull is great going forward but he has done that as an 8 don't think he's played 10 for us or motherwell. Although he is stronger and technically streets ahead of Christie in ability. Personally don't rate Henderson.

Don't have the right personnel to play anything else currently, without MJ and Forrest. 442 diamond, is sturdy and balanced without the players having to learn too much too quick.
4-2-3-1 doesn't work as proven so far as is 3-5-2. 4-3-3 is probably too much to adapt to at the moment. We're heavy in CM so this ideal.
4-4-2 is simplistic in itself. Wouldn't trust Lennon to implement any other system or tactics due to his inferior knowledge.

It gets our best players on the pitch and has us playing our best football this season. We can try and go like for like against the Huns, but we've seen that not work in recent games. And more to the point I'd rather play a system that got us playing at our best and give them problems to think about

3 at the back doesn't work its absolute pish mate. Or at least Lennon and our players don't know how to implement it

    In a way you're right..

We've tried playing them with other system's and it doesn't work well. I'm concerned about the width but they'll have to deal with us packing the midfield and having 2 up..

The diamond might cause them other problem's. I can see us causing them problem's ourselves, it's just defensively..

Hopefully we go there and they struggle to deal with Edouard and Griff with Turnbull behind them..

We'll get chances. I'm certain of that..

Watched the huns yesterday, they are nothing special..Hibs had loads of chances.. if Lennon is brave and goes with an attacking team we will score, we will probably concede but we will concede with a defensive set up too...

Just go and attack the scummy *..

Put this in the tactics thread.....why we need to carry on with 4-4-2 diamond.

The 4-4-2 diamond formation is working well. Despite our level of opposition (County & Accies) there are some promising aspects of it. Firstly no square pegs in round holes, players in their proper natural positions. This formation has been forced on us to a degree as we have no natural width with MJ and Forrest injuries. But the current MF 4 is arguably our strongest 4. There's plenty of pace, energy, desire, fight, ability and creativity to get at anyone domestically.
2 up top. How refreshing. Allows us to properly work defences, stretch them. So easy to play against 1 up top. Plenty of cover against the solo CF. The 2 being in Griff and Eddy (in form) are gonna give teams a hard time. They have their strengths which compliment each other so well. Dropping off, going beyond last man, at range, close up, good from out the box and quick feet. The 2 CF also limits Christie in his long range shooting. He has more to work with up top and sees the options this gives him now. Turnbull. Our future. Build it around him.

Theres a good balance to the team, Christie, Turnbull and Calmac all get forward but can get back to help Soro and the defence. The 442 diamond can also be manipulated in to 433, 4312 depending on opponents and their formation. This will be crucial against the knuckle dragging, zombie, mutant, tax dodging * pigs on the 2nd. Need to stop their full backs and not be bullied.

There is plenty to work with in this formation, to cover the back, and creating and scoring up top. Plus we have other options on the bench and return from injury. I'm no fan of Lennon as a coach and there are still frailties in our defence, but this is the most straightforward system (without under/overload of info for players). But positive so far. Plenty room for further growth.

Just needs balls from Lennon to go with this from now on and at Ibrox and players to give it their all.

Infact if we go there and don't play two up top with the idea of containing and Broony playing I have no doubt we will be beaten and beaten well.. has Lennon got the balls? I have my doubts
