    Was a good game..

Im pretty sure Balde was recalled with the Rangers game in mind..

Mcgeady was immense again.. * , does that boy work his nuts off for the cause.
Brown outstanding today and only a goal to his name could have made that performance sweeter.

One gripe , JVOH needs to be more aware of his positioning.. 4 times in the first half he was standing in off-sifde positions when balls were played into the box , twice from free-kicks.. Also looked to be standing off-side when the ball was played in for Mcmanus's goal..

Great result and confidence will grow from finally keeping a clean sheet..

i think brown played bad today all he does is beat a man have a bad touch then get closed down.
imo opinion jvoh was motm his flicks and touches always set up a great chance and a good header too.
i think instead of always swapping jarosik and donati about he should drop hartleyand play with them two in the centre

Functional performance Baldi deff made all the difference in defence, he deserved MOTM and should be in for the old firm game

Great game, glad to see they got the shut-out, or is the term cleansheet? Ya I'm still that ignorant unfortunatly. Anyways, great game. The team looked pretty solid as a whole. Had to watch it through less than legitimate online sources cuz as a uni student, I can't afford a European sports pak for my tv. The game quality was still good though and great to see the bhoys get a win for boxing day.

Crazy how you can have that opinion.. Did you watch the whole game and focus on it , or were you watching it through a stream and post on the internet at the same time..
Seriously Brown was outstanding today and along with Mcgeady they were the two guys in our team who wanted the ball at every opportunity and were always taking players on... There was one time when Brown had a chance to run clear from the halfway line but ran the ball about 5 yards too far (something he's been guilty of too much this season) and conceded posession.. His final ball wasn't great every time but neither was any other player on the pitch.. You could see players slipping on the pitch from the first minute to the last but in my oppinion Brown was the most assured of the lot..

Are you serious about JVOH being man of the match ?

As stated by myself and many others on here in the past JVOH does what he does , and when he does it to the best of his ability he still only offers about 75% of what a top quality striker should have to offer.. He just reminds me of an ageing Hartson , his only real attribute is with the head , and If people think that kind of striker is good enough for a club like Celtic then fair enough because they will get that from him game after game..

He has no pace so you don't see him getting away from his markers.. Everything he did today was pretty much straight through the middle , I wasn't counting how many flick-on's he contributed but there was at least 3 times when he headed it straight up in the air to nobody before it got cleared.. Showed a few nice touches on the ground by playing the ball back to others to whip the ball in to the box.. Not once did he take the ball round anyone or create room to have a shot at goal.. It's the off-sides that * me off more than anything.. He tries to do that Ruud Van Nistelrooy tactic of standing off-side waiting for the free-kick to come in and then run back onside at the last moment to create a bit of space for a header.. He mistimed that 2 times at least today and was also off-side more times when balls were played directly in to him , and that's unacceptable when set pieces and balls into the box are the only opportunities he seems to score from..

I'll praise the guy for his goals but his allround ability is lacking in so many departments..
Can he score from further than 6 yards out ? Im yet to be convinced..

The only issue with Hartley is , when he's not taking set pieces he doesn't seem attack minded at all.. he likes to slow the game down or play the easy pass , even if its sideways or backwards but he's stiull our best player at retaining posession.. I think Donati did well when he came on.. He was in our box defending one minute then running over the half way line to offer himself for a pass , and think pretty much every pass he made found it's target.. Just need to see him puting in tackles now and keep posession , showing that he can offer at least as much as Jarosik , before he convinces me he's worth a start in the team..

im not denying that brown works hard or anything but he contributes nothing he gets the ball runs, loses it and then commits a foul.

you are being exceedingly stupid about jvoh. saying he offers 75% of what a top quality striker should - well newsflash hes not top quality he cost 3million what do you expect from him? he didnt take the ball round anyone cos thats not the kind of player he is, he holds up the ball to create space for others to have a free shot. why does it matter where the goals come from?

played much better than I thought we would. Tannadice is very tight and the arabs are a decent side on form. I liked the way we kept the ball low and treid to pass through them for much of the game. I think that wore them down after about 50 minutes. Defense look fine. Midfield was decent and patience with JVOH is paying dividends. His touch and link play was very good. Although they played well I thought Aidan, Skippy and Hartley were looking tired adn fair dos they have been the main men in most games.

Brown-6-did ok but I dont feel confident with him
Gary-7-solid in defence and assisted aidan well
    Naylor-8-played very well.
    Mick-8-big improvement. Inspirational
Bobo-7-have to say he won everything and derserves to keep his place
JJ-7-played very well but faded in 2nd half a bit
Hartley-6.5-played well but a little tired looking. Great deadball crossing
Aidan-7-some great runs and chasing back but I think he is tiring too. We cant just have one winger at celtic
Broon-8-some great passages of play. Faded in places but a monkey can see he is going to be a world beater
    Skippy-6.5-decent but looks tired
JVOH-7last two games he looks like old self. The ball is sticking to him and he is linking well and scoring.
Donati-6-looked decent when he came on

I must admit it was a pleasure to see us move away from the long ball football we have been producing lately.

Absolutely delighted for Big Jan :84:

Skippy looks very, very tired but runs his socks off.

McGeady, Brown, Donati, Balde, McManus were superb.

Naylor looks like he's finding a bit of the form he had last year, thank *!

Hartley and Jarosik lose the ball too many times in dangerous places, however, Hartley's crosses for the two goals were top drawer.

    Good performance - delighted :50:

skippy looks tired, real tired. Great work ethic always though. WGS knows just like any other coach, you play weary men, they'll pick up an injury sooner than later. Surprised not to see Deeks in the last 20 minutes.

Gotta say most excited bout Naylor's return, especially since it seems he has back whatever was missing at the season's start. Here's hoping the form holds up against quality opposition.

I thought the team played well today although I am concerned about the numerical advantage we are giving to other teams in midfield.

The midfield fought hard today but are struggling to dominate the middle as they are outnumbered 5 to 4. I feel we have to counteract this, especially against the huns next week.

Our midfield is more skillful but theirs is more robust and I feel strongly about matching their numbers in the middle.

Wether we do this as a 4-5-1 or a 3-5-2 I'm not sure but we must have 5 in the midfield or they will run over the top of us as they did at Ibrox.

The huns will play with one up front next week so I would be inclined to go 3-5-2. You could play the same team as today with Naylor pushed forward giving you a midfield of McGeady, Brown, Hartley, Jiri or Donati and Naylor. Anyway it's good to see us hit a bit of form. Roll on the new year.

Scott Brown takes the pressure of the defence..

He drops back to take the ball.. Probably 6 times today he ran about 40 yards with the ball and either layed it off to Mcdonald , JVOH , Hartley or was played into the box and got cleared by a defender..

That's my exact point , you get what you get from JVOH.. You are happy with what he offers and I want to see someone partner Skippy who can offer so much more.. Our midfield can't play a killer pass from the halfway line to split open a teams defence and expect him to beat a defender to the ball.. I wan't to see someone who can do that , and run the channels when need be..

Sounds good except that Mcgeady is banned..

It's a hard one to call and not sure how we should set out for this game.. I'd like to think they will be worrying about us more than us about them , but I'd need to see how the first 15 minutes goes before I can see a pattern emerging..
Can't see us winning too many aerial battles in their half so it's going to be a case of keeping it on the deck and playing with width.. Can we risk playing Riordan at left midfield when he'll have to get back to support Naylor ?
Mcdonald got absolutely no change out of them at Ibrox but hopefully with a "good as you get" performance from JVOH he'll get some chances.. Brown's surging runs will be important and hope our attack gets support from the fullbacks pushing forward..

This result, and the 2nd half performance, has worked wonders for us all.

The pro-Strachan lobby are happy that we've (hopefully) turned the corner and the anti-Strachan faction are happy that Bobo was back in. A good day all round. Let's hope that we are now back on track.
