Don't dare pontificate to me about supporting Celtic Football Club, especially when you support a player who so obviously has no respect for our values. The club was founded to put food on the table of children and the unemployed - to represent Irish refugees in Scotland. I think it's you and a few others who need to reassess what Celtic means to you.

Nowhere did I say I didn't celebrate the a Celtic goal either, so go back and read the conversation.

Yes, I don´t know what is more worrying: the fans who try and pretend he did nothing wrong or the fans who abuse him and talk about him as if he weren´t a human being.

People talk about the Celtic family, well, let´s take that seriously for a second: if a member of your family did something wrong, do you sweep it under the carpet and pretend they did nothing? Do you call them scum and demand their expulsion from the family?

Obviously neither. If they really are family, you make clear (for their own good as much as anything else!) what is and isn´t acceptable, a proportionate punishment is given and then you move on and get back to supporting them.

    Just my opinion.

I think a proportionate punishment was him being given his P45 mate after the "Skacel" incident. I had hoped we as a club seen it as a sackable offence also, sadly it has sort of been swept under the carpet in my opinion.

No-one said hes done nothing wrong !

He made some stupid mistakes and apologised, he joined in a stupid sing-song with other Hibs fans when * and has been suitably chastened.

Let he ( or she ) who has not sinned ..etc

TBH I find some of the posts on other parts of M the H are offensive ( eg the Jokes bit and the NSDFW * women ) perhaps we should look at that too ?

That would be equivalent to kicking someone out of your family. Without meaning to defend the way the club seem to have swept this under the carpet, I don´t feel sacking him would have been the right thing. As many of us argued at the time, a meaningful punishment would have involved a large fine and some time working with charities involved in helping refugees and other immigrants. Instead we seem to have split into two ridiculous extremes: the "burn him"/"off with his head" group on the one hand and the "he did nothing that bad" group on the other.

No wonder we can´t seem to move on from this.

What he did was far more serious than you are making out, that´s the problem. You make it sound like the cheeky antics of a loveable rogue.

I totally agree with you there.

What do you mean? I don´t know what you are talking about here.

You're so bitter towards my posts it's hilarious. This team scored 5 goals in there last group game, who's to say with our woeful defending they won't put a few past us aswell? Do I think we will win, no, I think we will draw, but that remains to be seen

Now calm down and stop getting so snappy and angry :56:

Was it not Celtic themselves that said we had a zero tolerance on the kind of behaviour we are discussing. I'm pretty sure it was Lennon that said the player would be handed his jotters if it was a racist incident. Education would only work if the person in question wants to be educated. Now, I'm willing to stick my neck out and say that Griffiths will have been warned about this kind of stuff when he signed, after all, he had previous. He hasn't learned from his mistake, so where does the line eventually get drawn. When is enough, really enough. He embarrassed not only himself, but the club also, and he should have been shown the door.

I fail to see the anger in my post?

Maybe you need to stop being so sensitive.

Yeah but look, not to start the whole argument again but intelligent, reasonable people can disagree on whether it was racist or not...that´s why the argument hasn´t gone away. IMO it was (for reasons I gave in the appropriate thread) but plenty of people whose opinions I respect disagree). So whether the zero tolerance thing should be applied or not depends on the club´s interpretation. What is unarguable is that it was discriminatory and unacceptable.

Personally I just want the club and the fans to move on from this now.

I´m pretty excited by this. Far more than I thought I would be when the draw was made. I think getting a draw in Salzburg has actually got me feeling we have a chance of getting out of the group.
