Not as much negativity here tonight as I expected. Usual suspects though only appear when we get beat. :97:

Look at things from an overall perspective Bhoys. Prior to the group stages nobody gave us a hope in * of qualifying and here we are one game to go and we can still get through. Many fans didn't even want us to play in the EL and maybe we would be in a stronger league position than now without the EL games. But in all honesty we are not that far off from being back to a really good side, easily capable of winning the SPL.

People forget we are a very young team with not a great deal of experience of playing in Europe. Face facts we are not the force we once were, but neither are we as bad as many think.

This team are improving and although tonight a few players were not at their best, one game doesn't make them *. Lets not forget also the standard of the Spanish league is far better than the SPL so to suggest Madrid are a crap team because of their own current league position is pure nonsense.

Time to put tonight's game behind us and start thinking about Sunday's vital away tie to Utd.

A for effort tonight, thought we were very unlucky not to take anything out the game, just maybe lacked that bit of class in the final 3rd.

Ultimately it was a free hit, as we were most likely gonna have to win in Udinese to go through regardless, which I think we all would have taken at the start of the campaign.

The goal was Forster's fault, I don't care what anyone says, he was already diving before Kayal ducked and shoulda saved it.

I think the difference tonight was most of the player had a good game and we was unlucky, but we always seem to have one or two player that have bad games and this is what hurt us.
At this level we need all 11 playing at there best.
Also closing the gap on the huns has helped with the negativity.:50:

What is it with Celtic teams "Standing Off" players - Does Lennon watch different games from us. does my effin head in it`s like ah dare ye tae shoot. Had to laugh at lennon`s interview after the game. Forster seen the ball late ??? Yeah well if your captain ducks its a good chance that it will end up in the back of the net. Kayal was magnificent he said...it`s like listening to a strachan interview trying to pull the wool over the gullible fans eyes....and if he thinks the chuckle brothers at centre half are DEFENDERS then * help us. and the less said about forster the better.

I think that we need a new GK for next season (because I doubt we get one in January), and at least one CB in January.

Good performance competed and caused a good side in Ath Madrid some problems, a quality final ball was missing. No disgraces tonight and pleased overall with what we have achieved so far.

Does anyone else think we should cash in on Ki in January? I think he's a decent enough player, but could we really say no to a decent offer when he isn't vital in our plans?

i have found good news regarding europe. if the team who has one the champions league already qualified for the competition then the spl winners will move from 3rd qualifying round to the play off round on the champions route. At least we have some good news.

Absurd, how do you know we would have won?

Managers make changes to winning teams for widweek fixtures all the time because people need a rest and can't always play 90mins on Saturday - Wednesday - Sunday with 3 games in 8 days.

    I don't think that's true.

When Gary Hooper came on and we played with 2 up front we started to lose control of the midfield. It's quite possible we'd have lost more heavily if we'd played 2 up front from the start.

Loovens clattered into him trying to block a shot.

played well first half an hour up until the goal really then we kind of lost our way never really got back into the game to the same extent

2nd half our formation changed or something and athletico madrid took control and we hardly threatened at all

overall not to unhappy, we gave plenty of effort and might have snatched a draw if we had been luckier

think it was a mistake taking wanyama off though

I thought we deserved at least a point tonight.

Our ususal scape-goats(Loovens and Sami) were imo Men of the match.
