    Hooper is dropped as a tactical decision. Stokes performed very well against Rennes in the lone striker role and fully merits another chance.

    Samaras has found a bit of form and is a good out-ball. He will win a lot of diagonals.

    Ki is probably our best bet for keeping possession, that's why he plays. Also useful for his set pieces.

    Forrest is in there because he has been our best player this year, and his direct running is a threat.

    Hooper is a great option to have on the bench.

    Can't argue much about the line-up bar that though. Stokes up top on his own is a lot stronger against good opposition than both him and Hooper.

    I called him a * in the heat of the moment. I'd just got in and saw the team. People may think I'm anti-Lennon because I was calling for his head at a time when we were 15 points behind the Huns but they conveniently ignore the times I've defended him when some of our own have claimed "he brings it upon himself".

    I know Madrid are better than St Mirren but it matters little. In the days of MON would we have dropped Larsson or Sutton because "Juventus are a different proposition from St Mirren"?

    This is the kind of game where if we try to play them at their own kind of game we will get gubbed. What continental teams dont like is very hard pressing, no space. We need to do to them what SPL teams do to us in our away games.
