It wasn't a reserve team, they might have got on a bit better if they had played more reserve players tho:)

True. Would we have won if Lassad had stood in the wall?

Listen I'm not scapegoating anyone. Our finishing was * and was our own undoing but I can't understand why people are defending the fact that a guy was basically just scared of getting hit by the ball. Is it because he's new and you've taken a liking to him? Lennon was obviously * about it and so he should be. If you are in the wall then you stand and take whatever comes, and I'm surprised anyone here would defend somebody that dives out of the way.

The same Neil Lennon that defended Beram Kayal by saying he 'misjudged' the flight of the ball against Atletico Madrid.

Who would you have as your fullbacks then? No Lustig or Matthews? Wanyama is suspended also on Wednesday but if available then I would select him also. All apart from 3 were first team regulars or squad rotational players.

Aye that same one. That was nonsense though because Kayal definitely ducked and I slated him then as well. However there is a crucial difference and that is that in the wall you are meant to get battered by the ball.

Lustig and Mulgrew or Izzy. Remember Lustig didn't play on Saturday.
I actually forgot about Wanyama being suspended. Nevertheless, that's still just 2 players I would have starting on Wednesday, maybe 4 from our strongest XI. Hardly a 'strong first team'.

Then they are a pathetic excuse for professional footballers if they need an atmosphere to beat a bunch of part timers.

Are you actually suggesting that team needs us to create an atmosphere to beat * Arbroath?

It is just cringeworthy that fans exist like you!

I apologise if you where being sarcastic.

But who's to know that the ball wouldn't have come off someone else by ricocheting off Lassad? Does the whole wall get the blame if the ball went under the wall? Would they get the blame if they never jumped and the ball went over them and in? It's a moot point and it's highly unfair in blaming Lassad for us drawing against Arbroath.

The bottom line is that it is the highlighted part on why we never won.

You're right of course that nobody knows what would happen, but the only thing we do know is that Lassad ducked behind Rogne, stuck his foot out and the ball went in the net. Personally, I would have liked that not to happen. All he had to do was stand still. A coat stand could have done a better job.

I'm not using this as an excuse to hate the guy by the way. I like him he looks good. I just think that at that moment in the wall he made a bit of an * of himself.

He's probably not been in a defensive wall in his life. The ball hits his leg at that pace it can go anywhere, problem is it went into the back of the net.... he should really be moving towards the ball, but stuff happens when you give away daft free-kicks.

Yeh he probably did make an * of himself by moving out of the way and more than likely would have blocked the shot. I just find it unfair to blame him for the team drawing when we had more than enough chances to put the game to bed.

Definitely mate I don't disagree. Even if we had won 5-1 though, I would still be * off at somebody ducking out of the wall. I just find it a bit embarrassing.

I can see where you're coming from by moving out of the way. He's in the wall - as are other players - and it's your job to stay there no matter what. It's obviously what Lennon is * at as well and to be honest I think it's only been heightened more because we drew. If we had won it probably wouldn't even have been brought up.

    Top scapegoating here.

There were eleven Celtic players on that pitch.

You stated that our loss was due to Lassad being a coward in the wall.

That's close to a dictionary definition of scapegoating.

I completely understand and agree with your point about players needing to grow a pair when they're standing in a wall, but to then extend that as far as to say that one man's weakness in the wall lost ten other men the match is simply absurd.

We've a tendency to scapegoat after poor performances but Lassad played relatively well on Saturday, his wimpish action in the wall aside.

Yeah it wouldn't have been brought up although I'm sure Lennon would still have taken note.

I agree, and none of them could score a goal, but nobody else ducked out of the wall.

I wouldn't call it a scapegoat because that would imply that I think everything was rosy and Lassad ruined it. That isn't the case. I think there were a lot of players who hadn't had a lot of game time all trying to gel together and it just didn't click. Nobody was good.

However I can't forgive things like jumping out of the wall. Like you said it's just wimpish. If Lassad had missed five sitters then I'd be first on here defending him saying that it just wasn't his day. I'm not blaming the performance on him, it was just an isolated incident that cost us a goal through what was basically cowardice.

I agree with you that we scapegoat too easily. Players like Samaras and Brown getting the sharp end of it in recent years and I always defend them because they are at least trying, but diving out of the wall is just different to me. But as I said, isolated incident and we should have been able to overcome it.

He isn't scapegoating that is how the goal happend, how can you try and defend lassad? It's obvious what happend because he wasn't man enough in the wall we have conceded and Drew with arbroath
