felt a craig levien moment coming on when the ref was giving falkirk a free kick at our players and with some of the decisions he gave in their favour.

It's a sad day when in january we are contemplating that the league is over
and with 9 points adrift and knowing that we will drop more points in the next 5 months due to fact we are * poor and we are worse than the huns in respect to the points tally this is a hard pill to swallow.

First of all, Thompson played well and did not make a single mistake. He was commanding and didn't take any * from other players. Is that not what we want in a defender!? People on here and in my pub complain about his apparent lack of pace after seeing him track back once today, but to be honest wouldn't you expect most defenders to be a bit slower than strikers? Is he any slower than the likes of Caldwell and McManus? He is also only 18 and played well in his first competitive game for us, give him a break.

The sooner Hooiveld gets into our defense the better. I was really surprised by how bad O'Dea was today. Not at all surprised by how bad McManus and Naylor were. Naylor has got to be the worst player I've seen playing for us in the last few seasons.

I thought Ki played well today in the midfield and thought Crosas did well mostly in defense today (he seemed to defend more than some of our cbs). The one thing that I noticed was that we lacked possession of the ball and could not dictate the game like we did in our last couple games. I think this is because N'Guemo was missing, arguably our best player imo.

Overall, I would hope after this game we sign a real striker and possibly a guy like St. Ledger to add in defense.

It might be unfair to criticise the boy Thompson's pace, that must have been his first game in a while. Would have struggled to be match fit and sharp.:shamrock:

no ifs or buts about it, celtic should be pumpin teams like falkirk at celtic park.
i cant believe the amount of sitters we are missing these days, it tells me
what we have just isnt good enough i'm afraid.

I'm not for one minute disputing that Lee Naylor had a pretty poor game today but, in all honesty, the way our fans treat him these days I'm hardly surprised. Every single time he misplaces a pass the fans are all over him. How the * is booing and heckling him every time he makes a mistake going to help him do better? It's not. Whatever happened to 'the best fans in the world'? That label does not apply to Celtic fans anymore I'm afraid. We all get annoyed and frustrated when a player gives the ball away or makes a mistake but constantly being on Naylor's back can only be making him play worse. Does anyone really believe booing him is going to make him play better?

The guy's struggling out there but he always tries his best. Maybe supporting the guy and trying to help him feel more confident would produce better results than booing and shouting 'GTF NAYLOR' all the time. :87:

I made the point during the game that he was lacking in pace but he was decent on the ball and his positioning was good as well.
    I was fairly impressed.

Decent point about Nayor, he was pretty pish but he does give 100%.
If our better players had the same commitment, we might not be in the same position.

Did you not see him get turned and out paced? :97: Apart from that he played well, but to say he didnt make a mistake is a bit over protective.

Was that in the second half, when he managed to recover and slide the ball out for a corner?

Aye, he shouldn't have had to recover though. It was poor of him to be turned and out paced like that. As i said, apart from that he had a good game.

a dreadful performance by the majority of the team but we missed quite alot of chances and quite alot of the times when we had the ball we couldnt create much with it, defence let us down again, need to bring in another striker aswell imo, we really shouldnt be dropping points against falkirk if we want to win the league.

The line up today, It didn't impress me & infact I bet thats what fired Falkirk up aswel, cos if you had to look at it, Its not frightening atall. I know Celtic aren't really feared as much now a days in all fairness but with abit of grit in the middle, with N'Guemo & Robson we had that bite about us. Lets be fair Ki, Crosas Zheng & McGeady, great footballers don't get me wrong, superb with the ball at there feet, but hardly the biggest & strongest are they? Thats what was lacking from us today, was fight & drive. I missed about half an hour of the second half because my * stream stopped working! But I had sportsound on & Rob McLean was saying the service just isn't coming into the box. The midfielders are meant to create this. I don't think playing Marc Crosas out wide helped neither, I know we done this to allow Ki to play in the middle, but maybe Zheng should have played out there? Or maybe McGinn? Just someone who would say buggar this! & drive down the flanks, we didn't have that today.

Playing 2 left sided defenders at the back, didn't help either & O'Dea hasn't played in a while, so not sticking up for the boy for his performance today, but you seen he wasn't match sharp. Lee Naylor is having a * of a time at Celtic & in all fairness I think we should just move him on, the fans are turning against him & to be fair to the guy he is trying to hard & is basically * up, he had a few woffle attempts at crossing today, but lets face it, he wasn't the only disappointing player on the park today.

We badily need another striker up front, we don't have any options for a start! We have Fortune & Samaras & thats it, cos McDonald is injuried. We have Paul McGowan, but I doubt he will get his chance, so even just to make up * numbers! Mowbray seriously! Go out & get someone! The one that interests me is Aruna Dindane, but we shall wait & see.

Anyway I think Celtic made a big mistake in letting Robson & Caldwell go in mid-week there, I think both could have stayed until the end of the season, we have let both go & don't have replacements for either of them in my opinion, as people have said in this thread, they were 2 leaders & the hole thats been left in the team is quite evident & should really be patched up pronto! Maybe we have a replacement for Caldwell in Hooiveld, his personality alone tells you he will be a good leader & the demands he expects from players around him, shows he will help drive us on vocally & hopefully physically aswell.

To be honest, we all were looking forward to this game, because of all the postponements it seems like ages since we have saw Celtic in action & the last game we did was against Rangers, where we battered them for 90mins, all the players & management have been saying the team can't wait to get out on the field & get back to winning ways, 2 new signings to show off Hooiveld & Ki, & some players sold on & with lots of players linked, its been alot of focus on Celtic the last fortnight & really you were expecting Celtic to be on a high & go out & win 4 or 5-0, but what happent? We put out really an unrecognizable team, & failed to show any real quality, so all in all today was just a complete let down.

I think when we get some more players in, which I think a couple more at least will be coming in this January, when they come in the team should hopefully get a lift & well we create enough chances the stats tell you that, we just have to take them & we will be fine.
Morton next we can't afford to play like that again, so time to roll up the sleeves & get back to winning ways, because you can't go from battering Rangers one week to what we played today, lets all hope that this was just one of those off days (we have had a few of them this year I know), but lets just hope today was just one of them & we can get back to our decent form we have been showing of late. The League isn't over by a long shot, but we have an up-hill struggle to claw Rangers back, but with 19 games still to go are you really going to give up on Celtic? 2007-08' Season should be a reminder to us all, that the League is never over until its mathematically impossible, so until then I will keep the faith & hopefully Celtic can turn this around & with it hopefully a few new signings can be the lift that we need.

    Mon the Hoops!!

That was hardly a mistake. Was that not when we were pushing forward trying to win the game? He was out of position along with all the defenders. He still got back and did his job.
