Balde has to be given a chance to show his quality, no better time to do it than next week. Whereas Stokes, well Lennon has to stop being a * and play him.

 

Balde is still an unknown quantity might not be the best idea to throw him into a must win game, Tony Whaaaaaaaaaaaa might be a better option

He played 28 games last season and didn't show anything after the Barca game. Not saying he won't come good but Balde deserves a chance.

Christ that was a * riddy. First of all Lennon and his * team selections and tactics continue to baffle the mind. Why are we starting our most important game of the season with two centre backs who have never played a competitive game with each other before? I mean really this is the same level of mistake Lennon made when selecting Ambrose after coming back from international duty for the Juve game.

So firstly disastrous cb partnership. It should have either been Mulgrew and Ambrose or Mulgrew and Van Dijk. Mulgrew was an absolute waste in midfield. Centre back is his best position, you either play him there or you don't play him at all.

Midfield wise, thought brown had a decent game, only one along with commons who really had pass marks. Ledley really disappointed me tonight, didn't take the game by the scruff of the neck and really shirked his duties. Laying the ball off to other players instead of taking responsibility. Mulgrew - woeful. Thought commons was decent our best player really... again. Forrest was alright, had an assured touch but never really took his man on, he is a winger why isn't he going for the byline!

Then we get to the striking department, samaras cannot play that position on his own, it just doesn't * work. He was falling over more often than he was getting touches of the ball. If Lennon wanted to play one up top it should have been balde up front with samaras wide left.

Overall there were a few pass marks, brown, commons, forrest, izzy. That is it, and even then forrest is touch and go and izzy missed a * sitter along with forrest.

Think Lenny has to bear responsibility for a poor team selection and poor subs as usual. Needs to be bolder, should have changed the game at half time, brought on balde up front for sammy. Then brought on stokes later on after 60/70 mins for forrest.

Game next week is going to be a tough one, likely we will need 4 goals. Its certainly doable but we need to be quicker in our passing, we need to be sharper and we need the fans backing the team from the first minute, an early goal inside 15 minutes and i think we will score a few.

 

If I could guarantee this to be the case then I would much prefer us getting beat 2-0 over there and then going through at CP. Will be another memorable night as opposed to us winning over there and then just strollling through the game.

Doubt I will still be up here IF we get to the group stages so glad that my last european home game for a while will be a boisterous and possibly magnificent one. Or just utter *. Either way, when 7:45pm rolls around next Wednesday there will be hundreds of thousands across the world wishing they were there to scream the team on, so lets do our job and hope the team does theirs.

 

Anyone else up for ritually slaughtering a sheep before the return leg? I think it's our best hope...
