Celtic v Real Madrid

The gap in quality between us and Madrid is much smaller than Sevco to us

 

Proud of the bhoys for their performance in the first half, thought we we matched them 50/50. Not surprised we fell away later on against a top side, and we started to struggle mentally.

Biggest thing for me is the fact Ange is not happy. We as fans can accept we're up against one of the best teams in the world, but Ange won't accept any excuses...he expects to beat them. That mentality will see us through the group, and if it doesn't work out this year, he will have us challenging in the latter stages next year.

On to the next game and try to improve again, as the big man always says.

 

My personal favourite in the old Celtic Park was golf balls with nails through them at the huns games when we had half the Rangers end. Fracking carrots.

 

Overall Madrid deserved to win the game but we had more than enough chances at 0-0 to get ourselves ahead. Mcagregor was really unlucky to hit the inside of the post. I think we all agree Maeda's chance is a key moment. You cant pass up chances like that in the Champions league as top teams will punish you for it. After we conceded the first we lost composure and the 2nd was a killer. After that we never looked like getting back into it. All in all there was enough in the game for us to feel hopeful going forward but I still would have some concerns that we are conceding too many goals in Europe and might struggle to win games for that reason. Also Kyogo was a huge miss tonight.

 

Second spot in the group will be ours.

Not annoyed at that result. Wasn't the beating most would have expected. They are different level. I'd be confident beating other two teams and getting second

 

Meh dodged the score until about 10 mins ago. Didnt see the game but kinda expected to get beaten. Glad to hear we gave em a fright tho!

The games against them are a free hit, the cl begins now for us against the other teams in the group.

 

You've got to me some next level * to do something like this..

 

First half we rocked Madrid. Absolutely excellent. Second half we just ran out of steam and the pressure came off. Losing by 3 goals still felt a bit harsh but they are a class team.

Disappointed but proud of the type of football we played.

 

Feel sorry for the players, 3-0 is harsh as *.

Just shows you the fine margins at the elite level. The third goal was two passes, quick movement from both players and that’s it.

We’ll learn more from that tonight than beating any team. We know we can create chances against the best, but we also know if we switch off for a half second we’re done.

3-0 is not a fair reflection of the game but it’s a harsh lesson for the players. We’ll get there.

 

Not exactly unpopular mate..

Long term goal is getting back to where Parkhead is feared as a away ground at this level.. not a layup.

 

Think the money gap does have some thing to with it back in the day the gap was 30 million and the crowd would pull you through now it’s 100s of millions

If we'd actually put the ball in the net the atmosphere would have ramped up and maybe not been quite a joy for Modric and co.

 

Players back then where still quality, if not better. Just the values have went mental.
