Reason we were streetwise in CL in decades gone by was because we had a team who had experienced heads outwith their career at Celtic....we rely on too many youngsters and projects

Rodgers bringing on CCV was like Lennon bringing in Ambrose against Juventus...a gamble that was too high risk for this fixture

 

Newcastle have more home wins in the CL than us in the last 10 years, and this is their first home game in the CL in over 20 years!!

 

Gutted at the result but not disappointed at how we played..I thought we were decent but the ref was * hopeless..how they don't get 2 bookings for high challenge on CCV and O'Reilly ( not even a foul) and how no red on the punch on hatate...I think we'll need to win in Rome and beat feyenoord bcoz I think the 2 other teams will beat them. I don't think Lazio are a good team.

Not much is going to change anytime soon - if we win the league we go into the CL automatically (for now) and as of next season there is no drop into the Europa. So once you’re out, you’re out of Europe completely..

Yeah i actually thought we didn't need CCV tonight...back line for decent, few silly errors here and there but we weren't getting run ragged.

Hatate again was * poor with his last ball.....Maeda running was immense as usual,but again useless end product.

 

Thought Palma, Yang and Bernardo showed well, which bodes well..

 

I think he’s really finding his feet. That composure for the disallowed goal is something I’ve not seen for us in Europe for a long long time.

 

Tell me something how can every Celtic fan see and know we're gonna * up and give them the ball in the last minutes to score.

But our managers coaches players don't know it even after it happens every year ?

 

Just knew after the dissalowed goal we were gonny walk away with nothing, used to feeling deflated after a pumping but this is so hard to take.

 

Better team for 90 minutes and walk away with nothing. It’s the same hard luck story every single year.

We are far too naive at that level and it’s not surprising when we rarely sign a player who has CL/EL experience.

We need more experience in our team to manage / see these games through when we take a lead.

 

The crowd new it was coming as well....We went quiet after the disallowed goal and never got it back.

We can barely switch off in the SPFL nowadays let alone in European Home games where you need to win.

And 1-1 wasnt good enough anyways imo.

 

If you don't like someone pointing out fans essentially being short-changed by what was players giving up, maybe it's you on the wrong forum. We paid money to be there and gave our heart and support to the team for them to just wave a white flag because the goal was disallowed.

 

Aye he looks like he's got a bit of magic in him. The type of player that revels in pulling something out of thin air and turning a match around.

Such a useful kind of player to have.

 

Stan Petrov was spot on when he mentioned the CL is not a place for development. Unfortunately the parsimonious * on the board think differently.

 

We went into this game with the exact same forward unit as last year bar Jota, who was replaced by Yang. We still have Hart and Taylor who to be fair both did OK tonight. We weren't good enough last year and ended with two points. How do we really expect to progress in Europe with such a model. We haven't improved the starting 11 at all.
