Yang is a prospect and he's being played in a CL match replacing a player that left for £25 million, because Palma isn't deemed good enough to start.

We all knew what was required to give us a chance in the CL. CDM, LB & LW with possibly a new GK as luxury. The board failed to deliver.

It is so frustrating, because with that little bit more quality, this team can win games like this and possibly win them by more than a 1 goal margin. As it stands I fear we'll make a stupid mistake at the back as usual.

 

On another note, just seen a vid of the walk on. Who was it that butchered it? sounds terrible

 

Guy's still settling in. Look to the recruitment, not those on the park.

They finished 2nd last year and had 20 clean sheets. They’re a quality side. I was much more frustrated with the missed opportunity in Rotterdam.

 

These * scumbags are everything that's wrong with modern football. Nothing but thugs that kick and punch their way through games, but make a fair challenge on them and they're rolling about on the floor crying for a red card.

They're constantly in the referees ear about non-fouls that happened ages ago, piling the pressure on him to give nonsense cards like that one on Philips.

Meanwhile we're taking full on punches to the face and just getting up and getting on with it. We need to be making more of that. Someone needs to just stand on the ball while Callum gets in the referees face and demands a red card.

We're too nice. Why when Hatate is hit in the face are our players not surrounding the ref and forcing VAR to look at it.

Well worked goal for us, should have had a second when Maeda found himself in on left side of the box he panicked he lifts his head Kyogo is steaming into the box unmarked just roll it across and he’s got a shot on goal from 12 yards or so.

Poor goal to lose, especially given we had mainly limited them. The space they are getting on the left worries me.

 

Typical * Celtic what. Conceding from a soft set piece too easy. Phillips on a yellow now aswell. Some good football though, yangs decision making has been poor I think Palma or mikey Johnston on…. Palma cause we know he has end product, mikey because we know how quick n good at dribbling he is he can maybe stretch them or create space if he gets the ball to feet out wide

 

Yang is young and new to the continent. He'll come good.

This game is too soon for him though. I don't think Palma would do much better, mind.

Hart - Not much to do but looks assured. Unlucky with their goal.

Taylor - Looks reasonably comfortable in possession when in their half. Hopeless in our own though. Blatantly targeting him back there.

Scales - Extremely impressed with him. Fantastic performance so far.

Phillips - Looking steady too.

Johnston - Definitely up for it but needs to be careful, bit rash at times. Would also like him to get forward a bit more.

McGregor - One of his better games for us in a while. Got a lot of space so he looks neat and tidy so far.

Hatate - Still not at his best but doing alright at the moment. Wish he'd play with a bit more urgency at times though.

O'Riley - Impeccable pass for the goal and is doing a lot of work but feel like his touch is slightly off tonight.

Yang - Easily the worst player for us. I'm scared to look at his possession stats for that half. Nothing is coming off for him, not at the level required yet.

Maeda - Did well for the goal, the work rate is there of course but he's not really that dangerous or creating too much.

Kyogo - One chance, one goal. Dropping deep to get involved again. We need to create more for him.

Overall its been a decent half but we need to ensure we aren't the masters of our own downfall here. We shouldn't have let them get back in the game. We should have really went for it after the first one.

They are there for the taking but so are we. Just need to be more positive, more aggressive and more assertive going forward. Also cut out the mistakes at the back and this is winnable.

Disappointing goal to lose.

I’d say the problem was when we started to give the ball away we should’ve went route one to Maeda for five minutes until we settle.

Also need to communicate better. When there’s a man on, shout. When there’s space to turn, let’s do it. Sometimes we’re panic-passing when no one’s there.

 

Should be looking to win this. Lazio are no great shakes.

We just need some more compusure on the ball.

Scales is as good as he is bad. Deary me.
