we really need a clean sheet in this home leg,
id take even a 1-0 win just keep the back door shut, if they get 1 we need to score at least 3 i feel

Just checked bbc radio scotland schedule for thurs and their NOT broadcasting it, don't know if this could change before then.

Would imagine if the bbc don't have it then no other station would have. :38:

Hope Dries Mertens is off to PSV before this game. He's there main threat.

By MARK GUIDI FORMER Celtic star Pierre van Hooijdonk has warned that Utrecht dangerman Dries Mertens is more than capable of killing off his old club's Europa League hopes.
Martens is the Dutch side's main attacking threat and van Hooijdonk has no doubt the Belgian - given his first cap by * Advocaat last season - can cause Celtic's defence problems on Thursday night.
Van Hooijdonk - who was in the stand to see the Hoops lose to Braga in their Champions League qualifier - told MailSport: "Utrecht are a well organised team. They are compact and disciplined.
"They play with commitment and also can play some nice, passing football.
"Their main player is Mertens. He is small but he's intelligent.
"He has quick feet and can play on the left and on the right. He is also effective just off the striker.
Pattern "Utrecht signed him last year from a small club called Apeldoorn.
"People questioned if he would be able to make the step up but he has developed well.
"Utrecht will come with the attitude of being safe and cautious. That's the way most teams arrive at Parkhead.
"They will then open a little bit and try to hit on the counter- attack. That's when Mertens will come into play.
"From what I watched against Braga, the Celtic team has a bit to go. They are still trying to settle into a pattern and the players are getting to know each other.
"It will take time and people have to believe Neil Lennon will get it right."
The former Holland star watched Utrecht lose 3-1 away to Feyenoord last weekend but felt Ton du Chatinier's side were unfortunate not to take something from the game. They were 1-0 up but an own goal galvanised Feyenoord and they took control beforeclinching the three points.
And the ex-Celtic hero knows Lennon would settle for a similar result at Parkhead.
He said: "It was a huge blow for Celtic to be knocked out of the Champions League.
"I was disappointed at the level of their team. The standard has fallen in the past few years and that is hard to dispute.
"They need to be playing European football. The players relish it and the Celtic fans thrive on the big nights.
"There will be pressure on them to get a result and I feel they will need to take a victory to Holland.
"The Utrecht fans will make sure it's a difficult 90 minutes and they demand total commitment from their players. Let's just say the Utrecht players don't hold back from any 50-50 tackles.
"It will be a good tie and very close to call."
While slating Celtic's display against Braga, Van Hooijdonk admits he was impressed with Georgios Samaras.
He said: "Samaras can lead from the front and has an unbelievable workrate. I know some people haven't taken to him but they have to recognise what he contributes."

I'm really optimistic about this match after the recent patter. Hoping for a good win, and hopefully a clean sheet to follow on from the league opener! :icon_mrgreen:

I really don't think we can afford to mess around in the home fixture. I don't know why I am saying this, but I think if we go a goal down, we should take Mulgrew/Loovens (Who ever is most resembling a footballer with one eye and half a leg) off and stick either another striker like Murphy or Rass (If he's not too busy out getting his picture taken in his fast car...) in the mix, or Juarez. If we lose on the night. I'll cry. Hard.

i hope majstorovic doesnt start, he's only just arrived and needs time to settle into the team, we've just had a clean sheet so let the defence build on their confidence as they continue to develop into a unit. (once settled we punt Loovens for Majstorovic)
we all saw how in the 1st leg v Braga we looked rusty and Juarez and ledley looked off the pace, we need to hit the ground running on thurs night and need as settled a team as possible.
only change i'd make to ICT team would be Juarez for Paddy, keep Paddy fresh for the St. Mirren game.

I read somewhere that Hooiveld is suspended so we may have to start with the new defender.

Loovens or Hooiveld will be replace by the big man. Misun unlikely to start left back. Never play Ledley out wide, much better in middle. I thought Crosas didn't make the squad? Why Brown on the right? I would rather have Fortune there.
