    celtic - utrecht

I think this gonna be a difficult match for us. The star player of FC Urecht is definitely: Dries Mertens. FC Utrecht defeat simply: KF Tirana and FC Luzern. My prediction is:

Celtic FC - FC Utrecht 2-0
FC Utrecht - Celtic FC 4-1

Am I the only one who're thinking more about the ICT game than this?

We need a comfortable win against Thistle, which is a must. Then we can focus on the Utrecht game.

A least I expect the players keeping focus on Caley Thistle, and not thinking much about the Utrecht game already.

I'll reserve my line-up guess until after the next two games. Dunno if Scott Brown is fit, McGeady is there etc...

    Hi there,

Some more input form Utrecht here. For starters, we have a crowd of 24.500 and maybe 100 hooligans. And they are king all over the internet.

I myself am, beside FC Utrecht, a Pompeyfan, due tot the fact that a real good friend of mine was signed by them a few years ago. I visit 3 games a year there and have a warm relationship with some of them supporters.

I also watched The Old Firm 3 times, but from a Rangers view, due to the fact that I am a real Michael Mols fan. Impressive this game is, CHANT ON.

Most important, from a Utreg standpoint, is our next game to Feyenoord, Rotterdam tomorrow. I think, hope, pray that this will be a walk over from us. For instance Feyenoord lost 2 weeks ago from FC Mallorca, 4 day's later we won 2-0 with all reserve team except Michel Vorm (GK)

So we are in the flow right now and you are, reading you're postings, obviously not :38:

If we can stay in this flow I give best changes to Utrecht. Despite the fact that you have great forwards like Fortune and Samaras.

Utrechtstadium can, as your's, be a madhouse when the fans get there act together.

I hope we will have 2 great matches with incredible shanting, great goals and since I am there only for the game. Let the best team win. Remember WC final Holland - Spain that was won by the best :31::31::31:

Excuse my english, It's much better when I speak English with a beer in my hand :bbpd:

As tough a game as it might prove to be, and you may be in your flow but you can't be in your flow in preseason, thinking that is suicide. Celtic should be and i enforce should, be able to take care of a team that came 7th in the dutch league, but this is celtic so we will probably make it difficult for ourselves.

Hi there celtic fans, i am hoping a great game between 2 great side's
Celtic fans and club have à great reputation in europe,i hope to welcome lots of Celtics fans in Utrecht and that they can bring a great atmosphere to the game, i know we Will.
Its going to be a hard game for us,but we are in a flow, And have young and good squad at the moment.
If we get a good result in the away game,i think we have a good chance of finishing it at the home game.
I was wondering what you guy's think of the game, and the chances of the game for both teams.
Hope it Will be 2 fantastic games with 2 great suporter side's
Best of luck!!!!! Greetz from utrecht

But we are not in preseason. We played 4 hard UEFA matches. And tomorrow Feyenoord. After that and if we win we definitly are in a flow.

Us being 7th last season is not a quality marker. It's the result of a season where we had to built a new team. Only 2 losses at homeground is a quality marker though :icon_mrgreen:

I think this is the worst draw ever for me personaly, cuz besides bein a Utreg supporter , I support Celtic too for many years now.
Thats why Im not attendin the match either....

I see mixed posts on here, but I should warn you: Utreg shouldnt be taken lightly...
The fact that, as mentioned earlier here, the kept a clean sheet 20 times at home last season, is quite a good indication of their quality.
Utreg is very strong at corner kicks, with their defenders going forward, who are excelent at heading.
Dries Mertens is a player to look out for, very technical, fast and has a sublime cross, also a nice shot at goal.
Utregs strenght I think is that they stand as a collective, and can load up for important matches, especialy at home, with the crowd lifting them up to another level.

What to expect from Utrecht in Galgenwaard:

Depending on the away result, attacking football, with a passionate crowd shouting them to victory. Unfortunatly my prediction will be that theres gonna be quite some Ulster flags , rangers tops and pro huns chanting. Thats the main reason Im deciding to stay home. I think its a shame that they link rangers with biggotry, lot of em even not knowing what it all contains anyway. Because in Holland, football is never linked with politics or religion. For instance, Im catholic, but thats totaly not relevant to which team you support.

Anyway, I hope celtic get their act together for the SPL, but I think they will.
lennon seems to be a good manager who can propably bring the spirit back like they had in the 90's, with Neill in midfield. The hard tackles now and then is what I missed the last few years, like there was no will to win at any cost.

The fact that Utreg is compared to the likes of Hearts or Motherwell says nothing, becuz unfortunatly Celtic had loads of trouble last few years beating teams of that caliber too.

Hope we see two great matches and loads of Celts at Utrecht.

    Forza Utreg/ Hail Hail

I'm with you 100% mate i hope that after tomorrows game the players are thinking of nothing other than the game against caley, its a tough start and needs their full attention.

The only things i know about Utrecht ive read here so im taking the draw cautiously especially after getting over confident about braga. I hope we can get 2-0 win at home anything else would be an added bonus but 2-0 would be a great result, its crucial we dont concede and hope we can sneak a draw away from home, after years of watching us away in europe ill be happy if we can get a draw or keep a defeat to only 1-0,but maybe lenny will change our away fortunes. The players have to respect utrecht as i think a big problem lately has been the players thinking we have got an easy draw and not respecting the other team.

There are loads of Utrecht supporters, including myself, who rather see Celtic winning than Rangers. It was a bit of a hype, just because of Michael Mols.
I supported Celtic and besides of that, I have loads of Irish friends! :celt_2:
