Both sent off in added time. One before the penalty, other right after the penalty, then ref blew for full time. So it was 11-Vs-11 for 90 minuets.

Ref was young, this was his first Champions League or European game he has ever ref'd or something. Ref had a suberb game

 

Best atmosphere since Karagandy last night. Fantastic scenes at the end.

 

I take it you were already in the pub when our strikers won the second penalty?

 

The more I think on last nights result the more im impressed. The players we have out injured, bitton, sviatchenko, simunovic, toure not fit to start, losing roberts after 20 minutes combined to make it a real tough ask. We got through though fair play to Rodgers for that, need a left winger and centre midfielder still. But with Bitton, Sviatchenko, Toure and Roberts to come back in with hopefully 2 more signings we have a good chance.

 

I genuinely missed that at the game

No better feeling than a last minute penalty, place was absolutely buzzing best atmosphere in a while.
In saying that there's clearly still work to be done, we lost the midfield completely in the 2nd half but they dug deep and that's the sign of a strong mentality in being able to scrap out a win while playing poor for large parts of the match.

 

Anyone know the official attendance? Looked around 56,000 to me.

 

Probably the best referee we've had in Europe for ages yes he could have sent Shitov off early but I thought he had a good game

This is what we lacked massively during the deila tenure we had no ability to dig our heels in and get the job done

 

To get through a tricky tie with arguably our best CB missing is a massive achievement
O'Connell really stepped up he was brilliant over the 2 legs

What happened with the second guy getting sent off? I never seen that happen.

With regard to the penalties, there was nothing soft about them. The first one the guy is a bit unfortunate with the way Tierney nicked in, but he should've been aware of Tierney coming instead of lashing at a loose ball.

The second one Dembele has completely done him and he's took him out. He basically stamps on Dembele's far-away foot, not even a clip. Penalty every day of the week and it's not harsh to say a second yellow either, especially with Shitoff's persistent fouling.

 

It's some laugh that some journalists have been apparently talking about us scraping past "9 man Astana." I didn't even know they had a guy sent off till I got home and saw it on sky sports.

For the 2nd sending the guy got booked before the penalty. If you watch the YouTube video from Celtic TV, the guy runs towards the ref (No88) and kind of barges him. He then got a 2nd yellow, for protesting with the ref, while we were celebrating the goal.

Initially I thought the ref had sent both * and the other guy off before the penalty.

Both of our penalties were exactly that.

 

I seriously didn't know there was two sent off

 

They played in last years champions league so have experience of getting by the qualifiers. Good oposition but should be confortably taking 3 points of them if we are to progress from the group stages

 

I'm just learning that now.
