When it comes to corners, we must be by far the Worst team in europe. If not in the world.

Its actually ridiculous and has been for many years.

That mob had us sussed knew what we were going to do and nullified our game we still broke through a few times but final ball was lacking across the board, Ange will have to be more flexible in his system or this will continue to happen

Dunno if Bitton was injured? Big mistake i thought not to play him, amount of times first half there was a giant gaping hole right where he would be - obviously got some other things wrong as well and they were great to be fair, but i think Bitton makes us a better team (never thought i'd say that ever)

In hindsight, you’re right. But Rogić was going to play at CP- I think the plan was to spare him from having to start in Norway, plastic pitch and everything.

Watching the game last night, I couldn´t shake the feeling we looked very one-dimensional.
If this is down to Bodö being the superior team on the night, or if it´s a case of us having at mare is hard to call.

As said by many posters, the lack of physical threat was glaring obvious.
The fact that we are more or less impotent in attacking corners is concerning for me.
This is something that needs addressed, I can´t see us improving in Europe otherwise.

Still had a great night, not too arsed about the result now. Went to Murphys, you'd think we won 5 nil..party win or lose.

Don’t know what it is with the corners but we are the worst with them. When we get a comer you just know nothings happening.

Need to step it up and score first next week. Still pretty confident we will turn it around.

Every player had a Taylor last nite.
They are still in pre season. We looked like we were in Dubai.

I know, i know Taylor fans will say 'but he was excellent against the zombies.'
True, but who wasnae excellent that night. Dunno, i just see very average SPL defender.

He actually helped the player up who faked a smack in the head, mins later he turns him inside out to set up the 2nd.
Like, thats just not on is it. Not a celtic player.

Scales must be 1st choice. But i dont think he will.

    Curveball:

    Bit radical here...

1 - When was the last time we won a european knockout round / tie (i know we beat zenit a few years back), was it over 16 years ago?! surely not!

2 - Do we want to be in the champions league to be slapped again in each game

3 - For the last 3/4 seasons I think we concede on average 2/3 goals a game - shocking

4 - The Celtic team cannot play european football

    5 - We miss a midfield enforcer

6 - Not one person in that team can attack crosses or head the ball in an attacking fashion - the days of Larsson and Sutton - any cross was a serious threat, last night and most times this season we continue to carry this out with no real thought process behind it.

7 - The only reason we will win the league is if we are clinical in front of goal which has only happened in a handful of games this season

8 - Our left back and left centre half positions are massive weak spots in the team and have been for the last few years

9 - We are a small team with no physical presence or bite, we dont like doing the dirty stuff, in scotland week in and week out you need some muscle and playing away from home in europe

Until these things change we will be the whipping boys in europe

look at taylor and tierney - opposite ends of the spectrum - nice guy and all but we need a left back who can get up and down the line, whip balls in, good in the tackle, plays with spirit, quick at recovery runs. since KT went the position has always been papered over. the wee Norwegian lad from rosenborg (when we played 3/4 times) was there for the talking meiling - now at rennes from nimes.

good teams play formations that suit - get the ball over the top of our midfield and we can be opened up like a tin of beans - we miss someone to break up play, put the foot on the ball, win 50/50s etc. the lamberts, wanyamas etc.

    play jullien at the weekend.
could have came on the last 10 mins to nick a chance from a corner
their keeper is out and a 1-0 lead is no bother.
we need a massive game next week, problem is a plastic pitch?! which to me means injuries to a few fs

Forgot about those short corners in the 2nd half, they were actually embarrassing to watch at times. Jota literally passed it to the Bodo player at one of them…

Your point 9 is true, but we sacrificed height and physicality when Ange was appointed. Technique and fancy positional play are the polar opposite of presence and bite. And any manager who offers that would ne met with less enthusiasm than Ange was when appointed manager.

Plenty of players have technique, positional play but could offer bite - always the same in europe in the last 5+ years. Petrov, Lambert, Thompson. We are a soft touch at times, when things are going good and everyone wants on the ball etc but football isnt like that and at times you need to stand up and be counted. The players never looked up for it plus the pitch looked terrible. But being ruthless in front of goal is the biggest thing i note this season.

Any great manager needs to learn to adopt to the league and environment, i am pretty sure Ange is smart enough to realise this and soon the penny should drop in terms of how this team needs strengthened

rogic, taylor, abada, jota, o reilly, turnbull - not really ones to get stuck in, track back, fight and get in faces.

The team does not need much, but Ive always said a solid spine is critical especially in europe, often one ball over the midfield exposes us, even before ange arrives. In scotland we can afford to get away with it, in europe better players can find out our weaknesses very quickly in the game. They are a good and well-drilled team they sucker punched us.

In the rangers game we made a tackle in the first few minute to set our stall out big moment in the game.

I was a bit despondent last night and thinking we're not as good as we thought we were but realistically we can't expect to win every game. They were better than I thought they'd be, they were well organised and new how to play us. I don't think there's a lot between the teams and we've shown earlier in the season that we can compete with decent teams in Europe.
I think we were out thought and I think our team selection was wrong. I actually think for games in Europe Bitton is a decent option in midfield and he adds a bit of height.
Ange did at least change the formation and tried to change the flow of the game - we finished 424. But maybe we should be trying different formations occasionally from the start for certain games. We're a bit predictable.
Also think some more balls over the top could be tried when a team is pressing us. Jota was on his own on the left a lot when they were pressing us and a long ball down the left for him to run onto could have caught them out a few times. Our build up play can be too slow and elaborate.

Petrov and Lambert weren’t players that relied on technique so much. Closest to either we have now are McGregor and Hatate, but they rely more on reading play than hard tackling, and have a better range of passing.
McCarthy is an enforcer, but clearly a signing Ange did not want.

You’ll get a lot of likes for that but put the pride to one side, getting into CL is not only more lucrative but much more prestigious than success in the conference league which cant even reward you with a CL spot.

petrov and lambert had technique , come on man. that great dortmund team in which lambert played in - of course he had it in abundance. look at the range of petrov's goals...

if mc carthy is an enforcer then i am lost - mc carthy is has the flip flops on and can barely get around the pitch.

Hatate will not get the foot in or play a tough tackle.
mc gregor likes to think he can tackle but in europe he does more damage against us than playing further up the pitch he proves this time and time again - gives away silly free kicks, poor tackles or lack of tracking back - we are filling positions with players not good enough for those roles.

If we win the league this team is not ready for CL and will merely be whipping boys as usual.

The benefit of winning the league will be to keep the money away from the blue side and maybe they will finally feel the pinch and edge closer to failure (again).

For ange, i think he himself knows that if he is to be well respected at the club (for a long time) and across europe he needs to make an impression in europe (which itself is no mean feat, look at brendan rodgers, he has never done it in europe). For me that is probably ange's greatest challenge to make the club do some serious in roads in europe.

there is a chance next week if we get an early goal - but by * we miss those runs from kyogo.
