Benfica captain Luisao has been banned for two months after clashing with a referee last month.
The defender collided with Christian Fischer during his side's pre-season friendly with Fortuna Dusseldorf.
The referee fell backwards, appearing to lose consciousness before returning to his feet and abandoning the game

Although Benfica are weaker than they were a month ago due to transfers I still reckon we'll be fighting for third place with Spartak.

    Broony Ledley
    Forrest----Commons
    Hooper

Forrest and commons just taking turns in the number 10 role while ones out on the wing depending on where the ball is, prevents hooper being isolated and receiving no support with his flick ons.

Wanyama sitting infront of the centre-halves, where he so often excels, will provide great cover for the bombing forward of the full backs and filling any gaps and man marking the likes of aimar.

Broony and Ledley will be key to provide drive and keep possesion ticking over when we are in control of the ball or on the counter attack.

Massive improvement needed. Considering the disgusting lack of professionalism shown in the SPL thus far - Our priority for every season - I expect a minimum of 100% effort on wedneday. At this stage a draw would be a good result but prove me wrong Celtic and give us the win that would get us off to a * flier. Oscar Cardozo vs Kelvin Wilson or Charlie Mulgrew = Frightening. I will be horrified if Rogne doesn't start. I know he is public enemy number 1 by some lunatics but he is by far our best centre back, yes even better than the prodigal son at pure raw defending, not attacking wise or taking a decent corner kick. Cmon Celtic.

No its not & i doubt any pressure has been placed on the team to qualify ...we did what we needed to do and that was get in to europe and in particular the CL by winning the SPL last season ..
For me there shouldnt be any pressure placed on the team , all 6 games should be played and enjoyed , if we are still in europe after Xmas CL or Europa then this is a bonus :50::50:

Can't wait for this game despite the terrible performance today.

    I'd go
    Forster
    Matthews-Wilson-Mulgrew-Izzaguire
    Wanyama-Kayal
    Forrest-Brown-Commons
    Hooper

Twice against Barca mate. The 3-1 game where Henrik scored and the 3-2 in 08.

I can never really buy into those stats, Benfica for instance won 2 away games and were unlucky just to take a point at Old Trafford in the Group Stage last season.

Stats never tell the full story. Benfica have probably improved a lot since we last played them in the CL. They made £64m or thereabouts on just two of their players during the summer there, so they're definitely doing something right.

It is not going to be easy by any means, but Celtic never do things the easy way anyway, so it doesn't mean we can't beat them at Parkhead and clinch a draw (or maybe even a massive away win) in Portugal.

    C'mon the Hoops :shamrock:

Yesterdays match will have no bearing on Wednesday v Benfica.

    Forster
    Matthews Rogne Mulgrew Izaguirre
    Wanyama
    Brown Ledley
    Forrest Commons
    Hooper

I'd consider starting Efe Ambrose if he's available and Rogne isn't fit, otherwise he'll have to play Wilson
