Forrest, Hatate, Engels, CCV (hopefully) and Idah off the bench, 3-1 us. -
They're due a loss.
They played quite open which will allow Kuhn and Maeda a bit of joy. -

You can only beat what's infront of you as the say but
6 cup games all against lower league opposition.
Played killie and hearts at home off the back of away euro trips for them and both teams reduced to 10 men.
Played St mirren also off the back of them having a euro game on Thursday
Last minute winner against Ross county.
Struggled against dundee in 2nd half.
Acid test of them now, next 4 games
Celtic twice

If we had another game in a few days, I'm sure he'd start....but I reckon with a couple of weeks between games....Engels or Bernardo will be in ahead of him again..
Hopefully Carter-Vickers is back fit enough to start for an hour..HTG and Blochairnbhoy like this. -
Flying back from Santa P morning of the 19th gonnae have to give my ticket away :31: should be a cracker as well they’ve got some good players and a good manager as well as momentum.
Be very interesting to see the side we put out and how they actually go about coming to Parkhead for a top of the table clash because they’ve been on the front foot pretty much entire time Thelin has been in the door! -

Just watched the highlights of Aberdeen vs Hearts, how they didn't pump Aberdeen is ridiculous that's off the back of playing in Azerbaijan aswell!

They definitely do have it in them to go for the points in every match though, if the circumstances are right -
Hearts were leggy and should have got something out of the game, missed a sitter when Vargas should have slipped in Shankland and them went down to 10 men before Sheep got winner. They were very open and we will pass them off the park.Mr Shelby likes this. -
Fair play to them. It’s one * of an achievement but if we are honest with ourselves they have rode their luck quite a bit. Expecting this to be comfortable enough tbh. 3-0 Celtic.

Just need to win this one.
Ideally I'd have liked us to be in better form, but last two games have knocked us back. The break is probably quite welcome to properly dust ourselves down.
Expect them to be a little bit more pragmatic against us, but think freshness and a refocus should see us over the line.
Not expecting 5 or 6 goals from us, but would like to see us win by 2 or 3 comfortably.

Massive game - need to be at it from the start and get an early goal to get us grooving. Would like a big win to get back some confidence and feel-good again.

I have seen the majority of their games and even though it is a very impressive record, they have been pretty lucky not dropping points in quite a few games. Should still compete with the huns i reckon but we will put them to the sword at home.

Should be 3-1 I reckon. Watched the highlights of their game and diets had some good chances.
A good time for a break after the CL thrashing and then having to go to Dingwall.. Should be fresh and some players hopefully can show what they're all about. -
It will be tough one, they'll relish the challenge..
We've had a bit of a dip and now a lot of players will go on International duty..
We'll need to be back on it with another daunting CL away game straight afterwards..
CCV back, hopefully gets 60mins..

You have to credit Aberdeen as they have showed a resilience in their performances and it’s the first team since Hearts in Strachan’s days that I remember putting together a start to the season like this whilst both Celtic and Rangers have been in the league.
That being said they have been fortunate in recent weeks to keep that going. Hearts should have beat them convincingly yesterday and Dundee should have at least got a draw the week before. Motherwell and Ross County could have taken something from them too.
However it isn’t often you see teams in Scotland show that sort of resilience to keep winning.
When you look at our form vs theirs. We have been the dominant team in all 7 of our games with an xG differential of over 2 or more in 5 of those games and only yesterday and the Rangers game did it fall to about 0.4 in our favour.
Aberdeen have had a positive xG differential in 3 of their games of 0.5, 0.9 and 1.2 (against 10 man Killie of a Euro tie at home). They had a 0.1 advantage against Motherwell so nearly even game.
They had a negative 0.7, 0.9 and 1.5 (against Hearts at home against 10 men and of the back of Europe). Their last 4 games in the league are the near level one with Motherwell and the three above. It is too small a sample size for xG differential to have meaning but it does start to suggest they are due a result against them.
As always domestically I see this being a challenge similar to Rangers provided in that they will create a couple of chances but as long as we are reasonably clinical we should have more than enough here.
Hopefully CCV is fit and the rest helps get Johnston back fit and firing, Engels going away with Belgium should be a boost for him again. Hopefully CCV can be properly up and running after this set back. The front 3 picks itself and then it’s who your midfield 2 with McGregor will be.Last edited: Oct 7, 2024 -
