Think with Rodgers and our recent sales to the EPL show it's an effective route.

Celtic still hope to do more business before the transfer window closes on Friday night. The club is looking to add a left-sided centre-back and while another midfield signing remains an option, it’s understood that would only be if the right circumstances present themselves

I feel like we are on the cusp of having a team we can really be excited for Europe with. One last push for this final 30 hours or so to get Trusty, Sanches/Bogusz and a winger in and we’ll pump the huns on Sunday through pure euphoric energy.

I think I can live without the additional CM. McGregor, Hatate, Bernardo, Engels, Iwata, Holm, Turley seems okay. Iwata or Holm would surely go if we do.

Still need 2 or 3 players.

1 must be a CB the other a CM and then a winger. I'm assuming at least will be a loan.

Celtic are content with Arne Engels being their only deadline day midfield signing this summer.

Football Scotland understands the Hoops are no longer in discussions with Lausanne Sport for Alvyn Sanches despite officially tabling a £3million starting bid as recently as last night. It's understood the Scottish champions agreed on a more significant price - £11m - for Engels than they'd anticipated and wanted to switch their focus to bringing in a new centre-back to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers with Auston Trusty their main target in that position

It comes after Celts moved on from LAFC star Mateusz Bogusz to look closely at Sanches, 21, following months of scouting and tracking his progress in Switzerland

A bid was rejected last night by the club but they never returned to the table as they're now satisfied with Engels as their main Matt O'Riley replacement and Paulo Bernardo who joined the club on a permanent basis earlier this summer

Meanwhile Mikey Johnston is on his way out of Parkhead with West Brom appearing to win the race for his signature. Sheffield United - who have Trusty in their ranks - and Burnley both had similar offers accepted by the Hoops but Johnston chose the club where he spent last term on loan

They always say some players only become available in the last 24 hours. Think we'll get one we suprise signing here. Won't even get rinsed as clubs will think that's us tapped.

CELTIC are poised to complete the £5million-plus signing of Auston Trusty.

SunSport understands the Hoops have made a major breakthrough in their bid for the Sheffield United star

Trusty, 26, is now expected to head north to finalise his move ahead of Friday's deadline following top-level talks.

Celtic have already agreed a record £11m deal for Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels as they ramp up their spending.

And it's also understood Dundee's Luke McCowan remains on Brendan Rodgers' radar - with 24 hours of the window left.

Hibs are also desperate to land the Dens Park captain but the Hoops have always retained an interest.

And Rodgers could launch a late bid to bring him to Parkhead before the deadline.

Mikey Johnston's imminent exit to West Brom means the Hoops will lose a homegrown player from their Champions League squad.

McCowan would be eligible to fill one of the eight club or 'association-trained' berths in the A-list - should Celtic formalise their interest.

Earlier, it emerged that the Hoops had agreed an £11m deal for top target Arne Engels.

SunSport exclusively revealed earlier this transfer window that the 20-year old was the Hoops' key target.

Engels had been identified as a replacement for Matt O'Riley, who completed his £30million witch to Brighton last week.

The £11m fee will see Engels become Celtic's most expensive signing EVER, eclipsing the £10m spent on Odsonne Edouard six years ago.

Seems like this may be our squad. I'd argue it's fairly strong. I think we should loan out Holm and Yang. Wouldn't be against selling Nawrocki, Iwata or Yang.

The two keepers, Valle, Trusty, Engels, Idah and Bernardo on the face of it is decent, took way way too long though. We should walk the league, hopefully this is improvement to get 3 or 4 good results in Europe and maybe a not bad one as well.

For me we wouldn't suffer from bringing in Sanches.

Another winger definitely needed. Hopefully there's more to come other than Trusty.

    This doesn't make sense.

If we were looking at Bogusz and bid £8m why would we then be put off by the fact we've spent a bit more than expected on Engels?

Football Scotland flinging * again I think.

More than a few winnable games in the CL for us. Push the boat out just a little bit we have a good chance in the group stages.

If there was ever a time for us to take a bit of a calculated risk in the transfer market it would be now … if we spend decent money on a good winger and centre half we could definitely be in contention for the CL playoffs.

Think we'll get another midfielder other than Engels. We'll either go back for Sanches or maybe go for Diawara. Not convinced by McCowan.
