I'm hardly impressed in terms of incomings, but we've done a great job clearing the deadwood.

 

I’ve never seen anything like it, credit where it’s due. My whole life supporting Celtic we always seem to have a squad clogged with deadwood. It’s great to finally get that sorted. Who is even left to get rid of?

There was some noise similar to Iwata that if we can get a centre back in there is interest in Nawrocki too and we would be open to letting him go.

Although I am fuming at how slow we are this window. Clearing the deadwood if a massive thing! During training players gone who are unhappy, for the manager its easier working with a smaller group and budget wise it helps us in the future.
However we need some quality in as well though.

 

Agree with the deadwood thing. We've got decent deals for a few of them as well. And I think more loans than we typically would as well.

 

Going by good old transfermarkt, we've a squad size of 27 currently.

Take the four out of the 27 squad and it's really a 23 man squad we are running on.
The loaned out players I don't believe any of them are going to cut it here.
So as far as deadwood is concerned, employed by the club, it's 10 by my count. 9 if Mikey is actually for the off. 3 more to get out the door in some capacity at least!

For the players actively at the club (not loaned out), then 3-4 around the training pitch must be a low number for a very long time.

Mikey out, just release McCarthy and Shaw. Then it's just Montgomery, who's probably not gonna make it either, so sell or use in a deal for someone.

A year ago we went into final few days targeting 5 deals.

Got 1 is suppose.

 

Wouldn't imagine Palma would be off unless we already had another winger lined up, even though his form dropped off a cliff his goals and the amount of chances he created first half of last season won us a good amount of points, if he can recapture any of that he can still be a decent option.
