Hindsight is a wonderful thing, we had brought in midfielder, winger, 2 cbs and a few others.

Who's to say these new linked players, who aren't even signed are any good? 99% of this board prior to the links wouldn't have a clue who they were, so I'm not going on people watching youtube or looking up some stat filled site to say how wonderful these players are.

The problem with all is * all seems to be happening.

We've replaced 2 goalies that left and returned 2 former loan players, and we have the famous loan in, in a position that will have 0 players possibly at end of season.

Idah had no option to buy, so as far as this window is concerned, we got a new signing over the line. Look at how much we were willing to pay for him.

I haven't heard of these players either; but you can tell that we are trying to get better quality. Palma was £4 million from the Greek league. This season, we're trying to get a kid who is playing in the Bundesliga and will end up paying about 3 times that if we get him (in spite of being 3 years younger than Palma was when he signed!). I know you can't always judge a signing by the league and the fee (Larsson, Lubo, O'Riley, etc); but let's be honest, 8 times out of 10, it's a good metric. Another reason you can tell is that there hasn't been that influx of cheap projects who Rodgers isn't going to play. On the contrary, we've been getting them shipped out.

Anyone else think Bernardo is o Riley replacement.
Why would he sign for us to sit on bench most weeks.

Although we have done some good business, I think the majority feel that Bernardo and Idah are just two we had and weren’t nailed on starters last campaign. Goal keeper is deffo upgrades, and Valle will be good but isn’t ours to keep,

Brendan banging the we want better, bigger, stronger drum kinda set us up for getting rid of dross and bringing in the Spartans so a degree of optimism built that this could be a colossal recruitment turnaround

so loosing Matt and getting the best part of what we had unofficially and now have officially wasn’t what was expected however the window is still open Nicholson is doing double shifts and the lawyers pens are at the ready,

we have a full tank, two packs of cigarettes and 60hrs till closing watch them Green Brothers Goooo

    Given we're bidding 9m for a midfielder.

    No.

Sometimes you just wonder. How 100% of the fans can see that Trusty is a joke of a defender, but the scouts somehow think he has what it takes.

Its like they got the job in a cornflakes package sometimes.

I doubt 98% of fans have actually watched him play though other than his highlights. I don’t know whether he’s good or not but I think he could turn out to be a good player, definitely had the potential there when at Birmingham so I doubt he lost it altogether

I've seen him last season and he wasn't great but not a good barometer really.

He'd be a decent signing but I wanted a similar type signing to the potential Engels deal. I find it a bit underwhelming.

I think more people are accepting of it purely due to the stage of the window we are at and it's reaching a more desperate time.

Personally I still think we need 2 CBs. So you'd have CCV, Trusty and another as the main rotating 3 and Scales being pushed down a bit or fighting to be the third.

We are an injury away from Welsh or Scales being regular still which I don't really want.

Most clubs and most players understand you need quality on depth and fair rotation.

Having Bernardo as a supposed 4th choice CM in a midfield 3 isn't a bench warmer.

Any decent club would have 5 central mids who will play a large part of the season, from starting games, competing with each other and being subbed in often.

He won't have signed as 4th choice thinking he is a bench warmer.
    That's Holm level.

Are people forgetting we play like 60 games a season:giggle1:

There's no way that midfield trio plays them all. Nor should they be.

To have good squad depth you need 2 for every position then as you said a Welsh for CB as a 5th, iwata and Holm as a 5th/6th. Yang as a 5th winger.

Given we will play 30 plus games between August and end January

You have to remember that next summer it's more than likely we lose Hatate, and I think Iwata and Holm will be gone too.

That leaves us with McGregor, Bernardo and potentially Engels, which is why most people are saying we needed 2 midfielders on top of O'Riley leaving.

I believe that the “two midfielder to replace O’Riley” comment that Rodgers made (I can’t remember the exact wording) referred to bringing in Engles, plus a more attacking midfielder (Bogusz) to replace the offensive numbers.

Could we also pencil in a free kick specialist pretty please? We've not had one since Griffiths left!

Rodgers walks after Sunday 100% at this shitshow as I said this morning the quality he wanted ain't happening goes with my backing. We are a shambles.

We should be moving on to the next targets by now, if he have them prioritised.

My feeling is that we have been placing excessive bids for the Bogusz, Trusty and Engels considering their circumstances.

There should be alternatives identified and given the bids we have been putting in, we can definitely get good value elsewhere.

Not looking good now. All the positivity from Sunday/Monday is fading.

Think we'll get Engels and be scrambling about like mad for a winger and centre back now. Probably loan deals. Really can't afford to hold out for that Bogusz at this stage of the window when it sounds like his team is playing hard ball.

A decent loan fee for both positions might be the way to go. We need to be a better team in the CL this season.
