It’s nuts to think that we have a bank load of money in need to replace arguably our best player aswell as 2 or 3 others to improve our 11 and I’d be more confident of the Huns bringing in 3 or 4 and spending way more than us

And imo nobody we sign will play against them. You brought up your sinclair comment and all i did then was point out he came on with about 20 mins left. So what. Still doesn't change that I don't think anyone we sign in this next week will play against the huns.

Can we keep this focused on transfers? I think many will feel frustrated and worried at the moment but we have to remember this frustration should be focused on the board/recruitment team.

If Celtic are so tight-lipped, why did we hear all about the back-and-forth on the Bernardo and Idah deals, as well as the various bids that came in for MOR?

It's not possible to keep big deals secret these days. Players leak, agents leak, clubs leak. If we're trying really hard to land all these players, where is the leaked interest? Where are the bids? Why no plausible rumours basically ever?

The only conclusion is that we rarely progress past the initial stage of interest for whatever reason. We're trying really hard allegedly but this never seems to equate to anything resembling serious interest for established players.

My point is that I don't really buy that we're trying very hard behind the scenes at all. I don't think the club want to spend money and bring in players that improve the first team - at least, not on players who haven't first been on trial here. I think it's all nonsense, I think we're pursuing cheap deals and loan-to-buys and little else.

Celtic Park is going to be toxic if we lose next Sunday. This season could easily turn to * if we don't reinvest.

Hope whoever comes in, can make the same impact right away, that Reo had against the huns. Granted that he already played at Tyncastle.

Or JVOH, scoring the winner vs Hibs 2 days after he joined.

The majority of stuff in the media is regurgitated rubbish between themselves. None of the info you would have read about MoR and the bids would have came from Celtic.

"I think we're pursuing cheap deals and loan-to-buys and little else."
Don't see what's the problem with loan-to-buys, we've done well the last couple of years with them; Jota, CCV, & Bernardo, so would be happy to do the same where we get the chance. Even though Idah wasn't a loan-to-buy deal that worked out good for us to.

"I don't really buy that we're trying very hard behind the scenes at all"
Not much to discuss then if that's what you believe.

Or Sinclair who scored the winner against Hearts at Tynecastle the day he arrived.

I hope we don't and I don't think we will but it's a dangerous game the board are playing if they don't make some big signings and we're in 2nd place going into the break.

My first thoughts about next Sunday is how much we're going to win by. Losing never entered my head.

We played them with players missing from squads last season n still beat them. We’ll bash them as usual don’t worry. We need signings in though to improve the squad anyway but the Huns aren’t competition regardless right now

If you agree we're focused largely on loan-to-buys, then it's no wonder the club have nothing to report.

Imagine trying to sign a halfway established player on that basis. You'll never get players over the age of 23 because they don't want to be treated like a kid, and selling clubs presumably hate it because our insistence on a option-to-buy rather than a mandatory fee means they risk loaning the player out with no sale at the end.

It's negotiating with both hands tied behind your back because very few clubs and players will agree to this. And we only do it because we're risk averse to an incredible degree, like basically no other club I can think of. It implies that the board do not trust the scouts' judgment and are only willing to risk a couple mil on any given player without a loan up-front.

It's a savvy approach for a club that are skint and can't afford good scouts or a loss on any investment. It's an excessively conservative approach for a cash-rich club like us. It holds us back and is presumably the reason why there is no news ever despite the scouts working hard. If this is their strategy, it must be like running headlong into a wall all day everyday.
