Other than that Korean boy and the Japanese striker, it is very quiet.

Mind when it used to be a good thing cause we knew we were busy and ended up doing business early anyway. Not long ago either. Now when it’s quiet, it’s probably because there’s very little happening.

Difference being Ange. He knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go and get it. BR however is the exact opposite.

I think the main difference is Lawwell.

We've been heavily linked with Araujo, too. SVH name keeps popping up and we were linked with Miovski. We've been linked with the Jung and the Japanese striker in the last couple of days.

We were also linked with Fabio Silva, before he signed for the orcs. No one will know if there was ever any genuine interest in him from us but it was a rumour that we were.

I'd love a definite signing announcement before we play them tomorrow to take the wind out of their dirty pish stained orange sails.

I read somewhere that “It is believed that Brendan Rodgers’ side may have to sell players this January in order to boost their transfer kitty.”

What? We’ve sold a player for £25m in the summer, we’ve got £30m odd in our back hipper from the Champions League, we’ve got record levels of cash in our bank and had a poor summer transfer window. We’re flush with cash!

Are the board just stockpiling cash for their annual dividend payout?

Just sounds like negative media spin. I don't think we need cash, the club want players out the door probably. Partly so they don't have to train x amount of players. So maybe aim to get Bernabei, A CB, Holm, Tilio (although Asian Cup ruins any chance of that) and Kwon out on loan. Could likely see the sale of Turnbull too for a small fee. Turnbull could likely be sold.

That's not an argument. People always say this when we are thinking of signing someone, what about player x, y and z, they were good so this player should be good too, it doesn't work like that. I could also list a * player we have signed from other Scottish teams for every good one. Killeen, Gary Mackay-Steven, Siegrist, William Flood etc.

Shankland is not even in the same stratosphere as McDonald in terms of ability.

We need 2 or 3 in the first week in January. I realise that's a huge ask but we've known since summer window shut what we needed and not as though you can do * all until 1st of Jan.

I said in the summer I would love Celtic to make me look like a * with transfer dealings but I can't see it.

I think rumors of Silva talking with Celtic and choosing them is quite telling (going by kds chat) I actually think he's a typical Rodgers player, someone who he could develop again and score goals but not to be.

I'm assuming we are going to go into the loan market as well. Harder to find good players in Jan.

Not a fan of loans with no option to buy, it's not the kind of deal we have been pursuing in recent seasons. Doubt we would have changed that philosophy for Silva.. file under pish and media spin..

Telling in what way? Clement managed him before so that will help. I wouldn't be surprised if we wanted to pay less of his salary.

Celtic have between £6-10million to spend in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

As revealed by Football Insider (28 December), the Hoops have a three-man winter target list and will be looking to sign a striker, a central midfielder and a left winger.

Their budget has been impacted by crashing out of European football after finishing their Champions League campaign at the foot of their group.

It is believed that Brendan Rodgers’ side may have to sell players this January in order to boost their transfer kitty.

Celtic could also be exploring potential loan deals to bolster their squad in light of their reduced budget, but Rodgers is hopeful of additions for his thin squad.

A striker is the number one recruitment priority at Parkhead this winter in the wake of forward Kyogo Furuhashi and Oh Hyeon-gyu jetting off to the Asian Cup in the new year.

The club made a reported £11.2million profit this summer after making eight permanent signings including Odin Thiago Holm, Gustaf Lagerbielke and Luis Palma.

The majority of spending was offset by the £25million sale of Jota to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad

So we’re sitting with £70m+ in the bank, not including the CL money or transfer fees received from this season, but we’ve got £6-10m available. It’s no Lawwell writing it is it?

That's it in a nutshell, we have players in the squad that are surplus to requirements and want them out the door, most teams do, but that that doesn't make a good enough story, so we NEED to sell before we can buy, even though anyone with half a brain cell knows we have money and absolutely don't need to sell anyone to raise cash to fund new deals.
