Tbf some of the essays are informed/insightful but you are right some are just drivel filled with waffle based on nothing more than assumptions and I reckon this happens.. so that should happen :giggle1:

Not sure the fees would be the problem for us. Think, O'Shea definitely, would be on a decent wedge of cash. Not sure about Baliwisha, given Antwerp have been in a financial mess now for a couple of years.

Apparently O'Shea is on 20kpw. If Rodgers wants him then I'm sure we can afford the wages.

Antwerp just sold one of their main players to Monaco for £15m. Might not be as financially desperate as they were before to agree a lower fee for Balikwisha.

The fact we’re still interested weeks after it was first reported means that the player (who’ll know exactly what we can offer) has at least some interest in coming here.

We can definitely afford 20kpw. I’d say realistically for the right player we could afford 40kw but at 20k should be easily done. Just hopefully the fee isn’t too high for burnley

    O Shea in
    Bueno in
    Bernardo in

    That will leave is needing

    2 x strikers
    O Riley replacement.

    For me:

    CB (O'Shea)
    CB
    LB (Bueno or other)
    RB
    CDM
    CM (Bernardo)
    Winger
    ST x 2

Is what is needed without any outgoings. Major ones anyway. I think one CB ain't enough. So would be looking to ship out Nawrocki and Lagerbielke and free up wages for 2. One injury and we are back to scales being there week in week out which I don't want.

Realistically I think we will get

    LB
    CB
    CM
    Winger
    Striker

I do think a CDM is still needed. As it stands we'd be going into Europe with the same midfield again and its a glaring issue.

There is zero chance we get 2 CB's when we currently have 6 at the club mate, zero. We'd need to punt at least 3 of Lagerbielke, Kobayashi, Welsh and Nawrocki, and I don't think that's happening in the one window. Also no chance we bring a RB in this window unless Ralston leaves.

The rest I 100% agree with, and it's the minimum I'd expect.

I still have slight hope for Nawrocki if he can past his injuries, wouldn't be against loaning him our or letting him be our 4th choice CB.

The rest have no future here, Welsh is pish and far too injury prone and Lagerbielke doesn't fit our system. Kobayashi speaks for himself (I can't believe he's still here tbh)

Aye but that's why I said we'd need to punt at least two.

    We need another 2.

Even if Oshea comes in you've got him and CCV then the next in line is Scales (Joe McDonnell CSC). I don't want him as third choice, personally.

That list is more what I want as a fan. The second is what I expect will happen.

For instance, there's probably no chance we sign a RB but I thjnk we need to try and improve on ralston and someone to push Johnston.

The squad still looks really average to me and aside from instant first team players we could do with better back up.

    Bernardo
    O'Shea
    Balikwisha
    Idah
    Bueno

That would be a lot more like it.

Would still need a third striker and another midfielder, mind.

RB is a weird one as I actually think Ralston is good enough domestically but not good enough to push Johnston up another level. I think it's a position we'll target next summer as Johnston will have a lot of suitors due to his performances for Canada.

It's a massive if, but if Scales can find that form he had during the first half of last season I'd be more than fine with him being third choice, but if he continues to play like he did second half of the season then aye, it's a worry. Still think it'll be something we look at in the future, just make sure we get at least one new CB in to partner CCV.

Ralston is fine. He is what he is. I just think that even January time we could be doing with thinking ahead to maybe when as you say, Johnston perhaps goes.

Scales I just don't rate. He did a job in what was a tumultuous season but he's slower than a week in the jail and his use of the ball is *.

It's not his fault we spent £8m on 2x CBs who can't get near the team though. Mental.
