We'll sign Idah, Bernardo and a freebie keeper last minute and it'll be made out to be an amazing window by some. Taylor will be our starting left back again next season, better just coming to terms with that.

We fly to the USA on Monday or Tuesday it's a * riot!

 

Even if you discount that Taylor and Bernabei aren't good enough, the latter was loaned out leaving us just GT for the run in. Not only risky as * but still crying leaving us out for an upgrade (or at the very * least) competition for Taylor.

 

Kobayashi has played both games at left back so far. Dont be suprised if that's the competition

 

I want investment in the squad as much as everyone else but did anyone really expect Taylor not to be first choice left back next season? Personally we have more pressing issues namely wingers for me... The Rodgers system is significantly dependent on the wingers being of real quality. If the wingers aren't beating their men the whole thing turns very turgid like we witnessed too many times last season very. Id give Anderson/frame the opportunity to compete with each other to nail down second choice before the close of the window. If both aren't up to it we can dip in towards end of the window.

Only kit I've bought since Adidas is the special edition, as it was the only one worth the insane prices they charge. I duno what goes on in the minds of people that buy every kit at £70 a pop and then complain about the club taking us all for a ride. You're taking yourself for a ride.

 

A serious football club would sign a left back and push Taylor down the pecking order. We have one or two more pressing issues, but not many. Taylor and Scales are comfortably the weakest outfield players in our team.

 

I appreciate your points but we can't have it every way. If we bring in a left back we can say goodnight to frame and Anderson's chances at the club. could say the same about holm, lawal, Kelly if we bring in a centre mid on top of Bernardo.. for me we need a massive clear out of crap. Get the squad right down. Then I'd have this;

sign a quality winger who can cover across the front 3..

That's a squad of 27 and probably 3/4 players too many but it's a long season and Clarke, Murray, Forrest provide appropriate homegrown cover and in Forrest case massive experience and ability to stand in if required.

Probably being very cavalier around middle of park so if Kelly and holm aren't up to contributing significantly id loan them both out and bring in an established centre mid.. no messing around thats finding the balance between properly backing our young players while also significantly investing in the squad in the form of quality additions at GK, CB and winger x2 to go with the obtaining of Bernardo and idah permanently (both who have significant ceilings to develop).. anyone not mentioned unless they were bolters during pre season should be loaned /sold where applicable

Taylor has a year left on his deal.

If you’re worried about squad size then sign a better left back, send Frame and Anderson out on loan for a season. Taylor leaves on a free next year and one of those two is hopefully in a position to challenge for a spot.

Taylor quite simply isn’t good enough if we want to improve. And Frame and Anderson are not in a position yet to take his spot.

 

I expect him to be here for the first league game yes. After that who knows.

 

Id be shocked if that deal isn't extended. The club has shown no appetite to replace Taylor as first choice left back and I don't expect that to change... Anderson has had his loan and it was a decent success. What's the issue with allowing him compete with Taylor for left back up until the close of the window?

Agree on the wingers. We've still not really replaced Jota- brought in Yang, Palma and Kuhn since last summer, all of whom have shown something in fits and starts but what we really need is to put all their qualities together in one player like we had with Jota. £25m we got from selling him, which we wouldn't have been expecting, plus the CL qualification money, it's frankly unforgivable that we've still not splashed out on a replacement a year on.

 

Anyone think we haven't spent because we can't due to whatever reason or they don't want to spend until the sell Matt?

Not even close when we have Yang, Holm, Oh, Welsh, Kobayashi, Lagerbielke.

 

Saving the money for the forthcoming nuclear winter OR we are going bust.

I just assumed he meant regular starters and discounted all of the above tbh.
