TBH, the rumor goes off of established policy and precedent. We typically cover any major spending with a big sale. The board love a negative net spend.

Scott Bain is our first choice GK and we have one LB.

Kyogo is the only recognised striker we can trust.

    Wing options are absolute *.

Other than that we're doing great.

You're probably right mate, just a lack of rumours for it currently. Got plenty of GK and CB rumours, and it's very clear we want a ST even if we don't get Idah, and the lack of midfielder rumours makes sense giving O'Riley and Bernardo's situation.

Just worrying we've only been linked to one LB all window, I do think we'll get one, but like GK, it's ideally a position we sort out early.

Even if Rodgers really rates Taylor (I don't think he does) we have one LB at the club, can't rely on Ralston/Johnston filling in there.

If Jensen is the new no1 I pray we move onto LB next in terms of priority.

We seem incapable of moving forward multiple deals at pace, it seems. I get that these things take time but we really take the *.

6 weeks since the season finished and we've only just had our first bid for Idah knocked back. A player we already know everything about and who the manager will obviously have asked for 2 months ago.

It's just bizarre how badly we operate.

Even if MOR and Bernardo were both to be here next season we badly need more pace and power (BINGO) in the team.

I wanted about 6 first team quality.players this summer minimum. It's gonna be a long one.

    That's brutal.

Considering we've also heard plenty about how we are slow to respond to clubs as well, doing one deal at a time, it continues to beg the question(s) of what the * are we doing most of the time?

How we operate so poorly is a mystery.

Just seems like a bizarre way to operate. Maybe that's normal I dunno? Can't imagine it is.

No wonder it takes us so long.

Surely multiple deals could be getting worked on, all at different stages.

I dunno if that's right, in Ange's first season it felt like all our signings came in pairs

The difference in approach to transfers pre & post Ange highlights how inept we do things. One guy came in shook things up for a while, got his targets identified and in the door asap, we were all taken back as we were so used to getting drip fed. As soon as he leaves the building we default back to this lacklustre approach.

The way Ange had us operating must give them a headache as they now have no excuses. There is a different way to do business, we've seen it and the usual soundbites just don't cut it.

If the same characters behind the scenes could do things at pace under Ange then why are they now unable to. Too many are getting paid handsomely for not a lot in return.

I think you are forgetting about how * the 2nd season windows under Ange were done. I'd say good signings were already on loan to buy, obligation to buy and s replacement right back. The rest of the recruitment generally took a fair while.

They're forgetting about the first season.

Ange signed as manager on the 10th of June 2021. That was the official announcement. That season we signed...

    Kyogo- 16th of July
    Starfelt- 21st of July
    Abada- 14th of July
    Juranovic- 24th of August
    GG- 31st of August
    Hart- 3rd of August
    Scales- 27th of August
    Shaw- Pre Contract
    Urgohide-Pre Contract
    McCarthy- 3rd of August
    Jota-31st of August
    CCV-31st of August

We didn't sign a single player before the middle of July. In a years time, no one will even think about what date we signed players or they'll collectively forget. All they will see is whether or not it was a successful window.

Nearly a month into the window and currently 3 players down from the end of the season. With those 3 players the majority agreed we needed more signings.......

I think this is due to our structure and governance. It was well known when Lawwell was CEO you couldn’t get a lightbulb changed without him giving the sign off.

Nicholson is just a continuation of Lawwell, they got an outsider in, Dom McKay. He wanted to change things and delegate more that got booted out and so did he.

We don’t have anyone other than CEO and head finance guy (Chris McKay I think) to negotiate transfers. Ange went insane that first window where he was playing kids in CL qualifiers because they were taking so long to sign players.

We missed out on Sacha Boey because we had CAA base representing us in transfer negotiations and his agent didn’t like working with a third party or wasn’t clear what was going on.

It was rumoured we hired that agencies services to help shift some of the players we have on the books this year because there are so many to go out.

Basically I think the lack of structure on the footballing side of the club is about two things.

    1. An obsession with keeping our wage bill down, so we have a very light structure. We are old fashioned and follow manager does everything football related.

    2. There is a very top down approach with little discretion or autonomy given to departments to get on with their role. In the interest of tight cost control everything is signed off at the top via CEO and Board.

Don’t get me wrong big outlays should be like Barrowfield. However, in the transfer market a budget for player salaries and transfer spend should be set and it is up to the footballing side of the club how that is spent. That clearly doesn’t happen at Celtic.
