I think people forget the window isn't even open yet.

Whilst concerns about the over-all scouting are 100% valid, I don't think there's any need to worry about transfers...yet.

Think that’s why I said it was a dream window.

Absolutrly none of them are out with us. Obviously the boy from Wolfsburg is heading to Saudi and Smal already signed for Feyenoord but they should have and could have been an option for us. Absolutely no one else on the list is out of budget or shouldn’t be.

Don't be silly mate plenty will be done. We won't buy players from the euros 1 or 2 might be linked if lucky that's not our market

Squad is bloated to * needs reduced first as long as we have 4 or 5 new players and 10 out the door before we fly to America I think it will be a good start to window.

I think the Euros indirectly impacts imus because who we buy or loan can depend on other teams outgoings and ingoings and some of that will be based on the Euros. Who O'Riley goes to could be impacted by the Euros because although he isn't there another player similar may take someone's eye or a team may sell a player who does well and want him as a replacement.

I think Bernardo and a couple of others will be done before the end of the tournament despite this but there definitely is a knock on effect.

    Unfortunately so.

The "sacking" of ML and JD was nothing more than a PR stunt to ease the pressures at the time. Board was getting it tight about the * poor recruitment, low and behold they "sack" them.

Exact same happened in COVID season, enough noise that they announced PL was stepping down, knowing fine well he was gonna take the chairman job in 18 months regardless.

We now find ourselves, months down the line after "sacking" out recruitment heads, without ever making an appointment that corrects it.
Instead will be left to whatever disaster way they decide to do business again this summer, if it works - pat on the back and expect enough fans to happy clap through it.
If it fails, don't worry, they'll then announce a new head of recruitment and get the fans doing the "need to give the new recruitment guy a chance" spiel.

    Rinse and repeat.
    We've seen it enough times.

Bernardo news of a reduced fee is about the only positive we've got so far - still early days, but we hear that every window as well - yet he's still no actually signed.

Dunno how ye came up with that tbh, just as much noise about our possible pursuit of 2
This ^ even if we not buying directly it affects other clubs incomings and outgoings which in turn affects our targets.

Same was said last summer, in winter, year before....

    Same story all the time.

While it's 100% too early to be going tonto. You can't blame folk for the concerns.
The noise about transfers isn't exciting or suggesting we are going in to the window with ambition and intent.

It was far more than a PR stunt. Lawwell "resigned" in the covid year to take the heat off Lennon when it was virtually over, or over (can't actually mind?)

The announcement of ML and JD was done for a purpose, although both of them were on Gardening Leave for a time well before the announcement. This was a Rodgers move - flexing his muscle with DD. A true sign of intent, and funnily enough, the timing of the announcement was around about the time we were starting to get our * together ON the pitch....

I think we'll spend, mate. We would have been building from a position of strength last summer and our board have never been willing to do that. It's maddening for all of us that want to take the next step; but it's undeniable IMO.

This year is different. Since the end of Ange's final season, we have lost Mooy, Jota, Abada, Starfelt, Hart and are about to lose O'Riley at least. We haven't replaced a single one with similar quality. It's quite a weak squad in terms of quality now and we've usually been willing to spend in those circumstances. So I expect to us spend a bit this summer.

The question is whether we have the structure, the expertise or even enough staff to spend the money wisely.

Right. For the last week I've been suffering with a bad case of chickenpox. Managed to somehow avoid them for 36 years, but then they hit me hard after my daughter had them a few weeks back.

Recovering well and ready to get into some transfer gossip.

The noise about transfers normally never ends up being the guys we get in, regardless.

It's far too early to be showing any kind of concern. No matter the reasoning, let's be honest.

The manager is on holiday, most players are and the season finished a couple weeks back.

If we don't see movement by the start of next month then I'd begin to be concerned.

I'd have expected McKenna announced by now tho.

Would also have liked to see us go for Stuart Armstrong to are a bit of depth. Again likey would have been announced by now tho
