Scott McKenna is a complete and utter diddy and if we sign him it'll show we've learned nothing. We need someone to come in as a confident reliable starter who can play Rodgers' style and McKenna is not that.

    He’s absolutely not a diddy.

We'll just have to disagree. A fine penalty box defender maybe but always has a mistake in him, and relying on him to start attacks? *

They maybe didn’t have a good goalkeeper but they were probably the most physical team we have had in our history.

I won't get my hopes up; but I won't prejudge it either. I guess I'll wait and see. Like @JC Anton, I worry that we so far don't seem to have put the structure in place, hopefully stuff is going on behind the scenes to get all that.

You don't consider the early 2000s "modern day"? It's only 20 years ago. Christ, I consider anything post-McCann as "modern day".

The MOR era was a very different time compared to now and since then. That’s why I said modern era, more so then how long ago it actually was

In terms of the markets we operate in? Fair enough. When I compare the current team with previous Celtic teams, I usually start with WGS for that exact reason. We can't afford the kind of players MON had.

OK, so what about Ange and Ronny's teams. Gordon and Hart were/are both decent keepers for us; but I personally would only really describe Boruc and Forster as "right good keepers".

Exactly. And look what happened when we had Boruc and FF. We got to the last 16. That’s why it’s crucial to get a real good keeper in again

He'd definitely improve our squad. Him over Scales all day.

Been plenty games this season domestically when we could have done with a defender like him

Not that interested in Beck anymore.

Nae idea what we are gonna do tbh. I'm not getting my hopes up like every year.

    Shall be waiting patiently.

Rodgers rates him and wants him and we've made an offer apparently

Yes to all there apart from Hein and Barron. Not sure ive seen anything from the latter to suggest hed be anything other than good for the HG.

Lennon Miller is a must sign if we can.

    Never really liked him either.

I'd take him as a backup, him being a Tim and homegrown is an asset in that regard. But we need a centre half who is a good defender and a good footballer.

One of the main things people are forgetting is that BR's possession football or Ange's football dictates that our players (centre backs, especially) are good on the ball. Our biggest issue in Europe is progressing the ball up the pitch, and that invariably starts from the back. We can't play through the lines or beat the press, our players panic and don't have the ability to do it consistently. It's a huge issue.

Finding players that are comfortable on the ball and in tight spaces should be our main priority. AJ, CCV, Scales and Taylor can play crab football as we saw in Europe this year, but if we're going all in on this style then we need the players to do it. Passing side to side and going nowhere is not to be conflated with us "controlling the game". Teams in Europe know that we can't or won't do anything with the ball so let us have it.

If we're playing Lenny or Strachan ball then players like McKenna are fine. But what's the point in trying to play a certain way then buying players who don't have the ability to do it? It's boggled my mind for years.
