So you're saying that Rodgers won't be able to bring in any players that he wants because we don't have a DoF or head of recruitment?

Has he to not bother his * until all these appointments are made?

It will be a work in progress. In the mean time Rodgers will have players in mind who he wants to bring in, and the club will back him on it.

We need to see those appointments made, sharpish as we should already have a cohesive plan in place..

Rodgers may want to bring some players he's aware off, but his knowledge is pretty much exclusive to the over inflated English Market.

How extensive can this 'work in progress' be without the personnel place..

In your initial post, you said things are sorted behind the scenes, there's literally nothing to back that up. It feels far from it.

Just because we don't have the extensive, world class recruitment department we all hope we are working towards, doesn't mean the players we do bring in are gonna be below par.

You're making a big assumption that Rodgers has no knowledge of players outside of England, I think that's extremely naive. He'll watch games from all over the world, have contacts all over the world, and will be well versed in spotting a player. Baffles me how fans think the guy hasn't a clue what he's doing.

Us being able to land the quality we all want is another matter. Despite the permanent rage FM experts' opinions, it's not an easy task. I always HOPE we can pull them off, but am fair enough to admit it isn't a gimme. That's where all this 'happy clapper' * comes from.

And the 'work in progress' I refer to is the pursuit of a top class recruitment department. We've been far too scatter gun with it up to now but the club will be pursuing it regardless. They need to do better in fighting it out of course, but I believe it's not for lack of trying.

End of the day the manager wants a higher calibre of player in the door and will be working with the club to make it happen. I just hope we do a lot better this time as I can't be * with another season of doomsday * in here.

 

Just had a look on celtic website. I counted 23 players who could leave and you wouldn't miss them or need to replace them how * bloated is the squad man ridiculous

 

What can I say, I'm an optimist

 

We should have a recruitment structure in place by now.. we sacked that structure in March and if we were behaving like a top club we would have those replacements in place before now. It really isn't too much to ask.

Rodgers definitely does know the English Market the best, his knowledge of the continent will be limited without a functioning scouting department. In any case recruitment isn't something he excels and his transfer record is patchy at best. He's better in other areas of management.

It's naive to think this would be successful.

We need to get our act together promptly.

 

This is the biggest thing stopping us going out and getting players in the summer.

Tbh I couldn't give a * we'll have over £100m in the bank.

Get who we need in ASAP and if we have to wait until the last day of the window and receive a cut price fee for some of the outgoings, so * be it.

All our recruitment issues of the last 20 years was all down to Rodgers not getting along with mark lawwell in 2023.

If only we knew that back in 2009/10 season.

I’d like to see us pay players off. Your McCarthy’s and Kobayashi’s. Just pay them off to * and clear out the squad.

 

As much as I'm all for highlighting how much of an idiot DD here is, to be a little fair to Rodgers - it is known now that Congerton had his own head up his own * with regards to his expected levels at this club.
Rodgers also wanted Costagne at left back and McGinn signed - two players that would have been excellent for us for sure.

He does have an eye, his trust in congerton was massively misplaced though.

Not saying at all that Rodgers would sign all great players, no manager does. But I'm less critical of his signing abilities when considering congerton was to blame for most and the players Rodgers truly did want, was attainable but the board * him.

As I've mentioned above, the board has previous of NOT bringing in players Rodgers wanted. And many other managers.

You're deluded if you think anything has changed in that regards.

Leandro Barreiro signed for Benfica.

 

I agree on McCarthy but Kobayashi would get a move, there were teams in MLS and J League keen to take him but we didn’t let him go for some reason. Liam Shaw is one I would just pay up his last year.

Siegrist we might need to do a deal with given the length of contract we gave him.

Guys like Tilio, Yang, Holm, Kelly, Montgomery, all need loaned out.

I actually think we will get a buyer for Lagerbielke, Kwon, Palma, M Johnston, Halsabanovic and Oh if we want to sell them.

Bernabei is another post loan we might need to deal to get shot off but it was rumoured he had interest in January but when we didn’t sign one we wouldn’t let him go because of Taylor’s injury.
