Our current cash is hovering around £80m probably drop to £75m by year end.

Matt goes and a few others say £35m to £40m in the door minimum

New UCL worth £48m minimum (should title be wrapped up)

Potentially looking at £8m for frimpong

    * insanity if we don't go out and get 6-7 top quality proven experienced players in BTW!

He has absolutely zero ambition for the club and is happy to let the club away with the bare minimum.

    It’s a completely riddy.

I've literally got zero faith we'll do what's required.

Would love to be proved wrong.

Aye but what else can the club do?

You can’t expect a club sitting with tens of millions to possibly sign better players than Taylor, Scales and Yang.

The whole “£80m in the bank” thing can’t be true though, right? We had that money at the start of the year and haven’t made too much since, so surely with wages and whatnot, it’ll be closer to £50m or so.

Even then, it’s still a healthy amount and considering revenue will start to flow in as you mentioned.. we should be spending a record amount this Summer.

I'll be shocked if we spend 20m on transfers this summer. If there is a quality player available we will want him on loan for a season before splashing the cash on them.

We’ve spent that the last three seasons. Unless you mean net, in which case I agree

What's the constraints for the European Squad again, always easy to forget at this time of year.

We're doing the barrowfield and lennoxtown upgrades out of pocket as well while we have the money, not borrowing, so that's probably 20-30m off the top, but yeah with CL money coming in again and no doubt O'Riley going for a record or near record fee, there's no excuse for not spending this summer.

I don't think enough is made of this. Celtic have signed 11 players over the last 2 windows. Not one single player started the game at the weekend. That is absolutely frightening and is rightly questioned by many on here.

Say a wee bad word against Lawwall and the club and you're spoiled, entitled and petulant. Embarrassing from some in here.

Surely every Celtic fan wants to see the best team possible on the park. That’s the whole point of it. Too many fans have been caught up in the commercial side of things and the narrative that Lawwell has spun for years.

You can register 18 players of any nationality and age.

You then have 8 places which need 4 to be club trained players and another 4 league trained, you can have more club trained but need at least 4. To be classed as either you have had to spend 3 years at the club or league between 15-21 years old. So we have Welsh, Ralston, McGregor, and Forrest for club trained and Taylor and Bain for the league trained. That’s why McKenna makes sense as a left centre back he would count as club trained and Miller could count there too.

If you are 21 or under regardless of nationality and have spent 2 years at the club then you can qualify for the B list and the number of players on this is not limited. I think Lawal for example would qualify for this list if he breaks through.

The cash in bank position will be fluid however, the interim accounts showed there was still £67m in the bank. The way accounting reports work it covers things paid and also income received but where the product is still to be delivered e.g season tickets. So all that is accounted for. Where the profit figure from interims to year end will change the cash doesn’t linearly change with this.

Since those interims a few things have happened that will alter it.

    Positives
    - we sold Turnbull, Ideguchi and Abada for circa £11m.
    - we receive a tranche of money from UEFA for CL participation.
    - we will receive prize money of between £3-4m for winning the league.
    - we had a positive balance between receivables and payments due in our current assets and current liabilities.

    Negatives
    - we bought Nicholas Kuhn for £2.8m and may have paid a loan fee for Idah.
    - Barrowfield project has started and construction costs will have been incurred. Not sure if this is just being funded of the balance sheet or not. Given we have guaranteed CL money it will be now. Not sure how much will show in this years accounts possibly up to £10m of the £20m project, possibly a little more.

However, as you say we are in a very strong position financially we will have made an operational profit again this year due to CL participation.

We also have some potential big incomings from player sales, add ons and the US tour.

Some great shouts there my hit list per position would be:

GK - Alvaro Valles, Las Palmas (Bosman) or Amir Saipi, Lugano (£3.5m)

RB - Reuell Walters, Arsenal (Bosman)

LB - Rikelme Rocha, Cuitba (circa £2m)/ Martin Frese, Nordsjaelland (bosman)/ Sergei Cardona, Las Palmas (bosman)

CB - Scott McKenna Notts Forrest (bosman)/ Jake Clark Salter QPR (£7m)

DCM - Ibrahima Sissoko, Strasbourg (Bosman)

CM box to box - Adem Zorgane RSC (£6m)/ Ao Tanaka (£3m)/ Fabian Rieder, Stade Reims (loan to buy)/ Alexander Prass, Sturm Graz (£8m)

CM Flair Player - Otar Kitieshvili, Sturm Graz (bosman)/ Calum O’Hare, Coventry (bosman)

AM - Albert Gronbaek Bodo/Glimt (£7.5m)/ Pavel Sulc, Viktoria Plzen
    (£6-7m)

LW - Alexander Arevena, Uni Catolica (£5-6m)/ Sebastian Nanasi, Malmo, (£6-7m)/ Fabian Resse, Hertha Berlin (£5m)

RW- Moussa Sylla, Caen (£2m)/ Mathias Kvistgaarden, Brondby (£6m)

ST if he is recovered from injury Rafiu Durosinmi, Viktoria Plzen (£7mish)/ Juninho, Qarabag, (£3m) or someone else as struggling for strikers.

We obviously won’t sign a full new team but I think we may spend close to £30m so say

    GK Valles (£0)
    RB Walters (£0)
    CB McKenna (£0)
    LB Frese (£0)
CM Gronbaek and Zorgane (£13.5m combined), if Hatate goes add Kitiesvili (£0)
    LW Resse (£5m)
    RW Kvistgaarden (£6m)
ST leaves £5.5m for one here Miovski?

    All hypothetical over course.

Think we are all well aware we wouldn’t be staying far from our usual model. Last summer was the final nail in the coffin of some dream about spending tens of millions on transfers. If we didn’t last year we definitively wouldn’t this summer. We will obviously spend money again probably between the 20-30 mark. Hopefully quality of quantity this time.

Absolutely astounded that Alvaro Valles from Las Palmas is free this summer. We should be all * over that. He's been one of the best keepers in Spain, this season.

Another name I see is out of contract is Leandro Barriero, who plays for Mainz in Germany. He's a really good player. Seems more box to box whenever I have seen him but can also play as a DM. He's tall, strong and quick. Seems to have an eye for a pass as well. Not seen him being seriously linked with anyone else(loose links to Benfica/Galatasaray) but he'd be an excellent signing if we could make that work.

If we were looking for a RB to come in and replace Johnstone, Ola Aina from Forest and Ben Johnson from West Ham are both avaiable, even though I'd play Johnson at CB instead. They're both available for free. Going through the list of players who are out of contract in the summer now, there are so many players who could come in and do very well here.

I hope we have our standards set far higher this year in terms of recruitment, especially since we have more games in Europe this season with the new format.

If we start the CL with complete punt type players like Yang, then it could be ten games worth of hiding behind the couch again.

No excuses this time, we’ve seen in black and white that the current player trading model doesn’t work … that last summer window was a disgrace.

We had £72m in the bank with sales of £10m from abada then you get the rest of the uefa money from the prize pot. League title money and other income linked to performance easily end up with £75m come end of financial year you aren't spending £30m before end of year unless we go on a spending spree

Yeah, Valles would be great the only issue is I do think he has been linked with some big teams but it could be as a second choice, where as we could offer him CL football and to be our number 1, say he does well then he could probably get a move to a big league as a number 1. A bit of a long shot right enough.

There are a lot of bosman players that make sense. Rangers sign a lot of rubbish but in Bassey and Sterling they have picked up players from youth sides in England that have proven good buys and even Aribo from down the leagues. We did it with Moussa Dembele, Joe Ledley, Kris Commons was because he only had 6 months left on his deal, Adam Matthews and Mika Lustig were others.

The EPL academies seem to produce a number of these big athletic type players Ben Johnston at West Ham is that sort but has had first team games, although I think he is meant to be going to Palace. He here I never rated him as a centre back, I do think a Bassey-esq big physical, quick runner of a left back who can overlap the winger would work well in our team.
