Over the next 2 windows we should be looking at getting rid of Hart, Turnbull, Kwon, Bernabei, Forrest also loan out a couple. Move Taylor to 2nd choice.

    New GK Starter
    LB Starter
    RW Starter
    Striker.

Forrest won't leave, he will have another year on his contract then I think retires just as he turns 34.
I think we will struggle to get rid of players unless their contract is up or they go on loan.

I believe Forest will be away in Jan, away to the states would be my guess.

But the main work will be bringing in half a dozen players capable of walking in and being off a standard to play right from the off.

We would need to offload atleast a dozen players to offset and make way for the 6 incoming.

We would need this to be over the next two windows. With a priorty to get them in here in January to bed them in.

Hart was rumored to have interest from MLS teams.

No way does forrest leave mid season. He seems to be the only player up top that Brendan actually relies on

Looking forward to seeing who Brendan brings in January.

His system vs Anges players isn't working. Granted he's been unlucky wi injuries and forced his hand to an extent.

But if he gets say, 3 first teamers in that HE wants, no the dregs of Anges and Mark Lawells list, could see us move away from 4-3-3 soon enough and see more fluidty and intensity whilst attacking.

He's gone to bat for folk behind the scenes in terms of transfers this summer (at AGM), but he's made it clear he wants quality and tore the players a new one yesterday. So let's hope he's backed to the hilt or we risk losing him.

Hopefully a few names out in a couple of weeks.

Would love to think we could get players in for the positions some of you bhoys have mentioned but i have zero faith in the board and fear we will at best get the same as usual(a few projects and a couple of loan players).

Everyone was talking about how good Ange was/is but the long and short of it is at least 2/3rds of his signings are utter garbage.

Abelgaard, Kobyashi, Ideguchi, Lager, Kwon, Bernabei off the top of my head. There’s probably 7 or 8 more. Really bloated squad with plenty of gash.

2023 and we’re relying on Johnstone, Forrest, Scales, Taylor, Joe Hart and DT to get us out of a CL group? They’ve all played a part at Celtic throughout the years but all of them together in the one team at the same time? Come on

Overall, I don’t think the Celtic transfer policy is working.

We started the idea of the buy cheap projects sell high around 10 years ago. Yet, we are still shopping in the same buckets as back then. You’ve also got to add some further context - despite significant inflation in the football economy (which we have benefitted from) we continue to spend less than we did on Sutton, Hartson, Lennon 20 years ago and operate in a restrictive and archaic wage structure. Our purchasing power has eroded massively but with no explanation.

Who is asking these questions at AGMs?

The funny thing is that in the summer window had we brought in a couple of projects and a good goalie and left back we would be in a far better position now. January will likely see the same old 'difficult to get quality in' mantra. But next summer will be absolutely crucial- even more so than January.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that a midfielder with bustle and bite will be among the club’s signing targets in January as he seeks a player who is the “complete package” in that department.

The long-term injury absence of Reo Hatate - not expected to return from a thigh problem until the new year - has resulted in him switching between David Turnbull, Paolo Bernardo, Odin Thiago Holm and Tomoki Iwata to operate alongside Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley.

None of the available options has provided him with everything he seeks from one of his three personnel in the central areas. And speaking as he prepares his team for the visit of Hibs on Wednesday evening, the Irishman intimated the hectic programme across the next month will see him give consideration to pushing McGregor forward from his deep-lying berth and utlising in that role an Iwata yet to start a game this season.

“[Midfield is] one of the areas I want to improve in the team. What we have is, we’ve David, whose strengths - with the greatest of respects - are to play against low blocks when we’re trying to nick a goal. Getting around the pitch is maybe not a strength. When you go into Champions League games you need that ability to run. So, then Paolo has played in those games. It’s finding that sort of complete package, really. Callum has played in that deeper role for a few years but [moving him forward] is something I’ve thought about. Tomo would’ve played in Lazio if he was available, but sadly he missed out [through not being on the UEFA squad list].”

Good to hear, we do need a midfielder but it felt a bit crowded there so wasn't expecting one until the summer.

He really confuses me at times particularly in relation to who he plays in the middle of the park. He said he would’ve started Iwata against Lazio but he’s hardly given him a sniff since he came in. Bizarre imo.

We say this every transfer window.. "we need to shift the deadwood"

Heres a thought, stop buying * players that are not and never will be good enough to play for Celtic. The absolute state of our squad just now is just pure negligence, a shambles to be honest. Whos going to take these players? Not good enough for Celtic and on decent wages, nearly impossible to shift.

Also Rodgers saying "we need this and that kind of player" doesn't mean we are going to get them, we've heard this many times before, covering his own *.

Anyone expecting some sort of transfer policy change and sudden spending spree in January and clesrout of the utter dross we have, well I admire your optimism. We are ahead of the huns and thats good enough for the board.

Hope I'm wrong but come the end of January I highly * doubt it. Maybe if the weather changes we will have a chance

It is also a lie, Iwata is in the CL squad he came on against Atletico away and Feyenoord away. So if he isn’t in the squad we will be getting flung out.

It made it even more bizarre that he wasn’t in the squad for Lazio, I can only assume it was an injury that forced him out?

Rodgers is REALLY going to town regarding his "intentions" on incoming transfers.

I mean, he's rarely talked this way, and it's both encouraging and a little frightening.

It's clear he's not playing with a full deck regarding the team he wants to put on the field.
What isn't clear is WHO these comments are for.

Is he just doing the whole manager thing "this is what we need and that's why we're a bit * right now" patter?

Is he telling us fans what to expect?

Or is he telling the board, in a roundabout way, "I've told you what I need, I've made it public, now go * get me it, if ya don't, on yer heads be it".

Either way, I've been impressed with him this week. His comments about Lazio and Saturday were highly refreshing. And this talk of actual reinforcements is more than welcome.

Still think we could've done better than Rodgers or at least * interviewed someone else, but he's done himself no harm this week as far as im concerned.

Rodgers is basically saying what a lot of us were saying in the summer. So the people who were having a go at fans for saying we needed better quality and highlighting the positions, are they now going to have a dig at Rodgers for calling out the appalling summer transfer window? Because that’s what he has done this past week. He is telling the fans and board that this squad isn’t good enough, and he is 100% right. Seems to be hinting at a holding midfielder as well. Again, a position most of us know is essential for us in Europe. Has been for a number of years but we have either ignored it or just recruited *.
