My Bradford Shirt was only £55

 

Home kit isnt growing on me at all. It's legit awful.

 

I’m blaming it for every goal we concede this season.

 

It's a joke. £40 was the go-to price for years and even that's a pisstake given that it's literally just a polyester t-shirt with some iron-on logos. Even with inflation £70 is mental. Zero chance of me paying that for this shirt or any other.

 

Mind when you got 2 years out a jersey for that price too. This 3 tops a summer pish needs to stop, or you see what happens! The just come out with absolutely horrendous attempts like our home top.

 

They haven't been £40 for a long time to be honest.
They were about £30 in the early 90s and after inflation £30 in 90 is over £70 in 2023. However they were overpriced then and overpriced now. You are right they did stay between £40-45 for quite a long period before smacking up about 10 years ago. However Adidas and Nike aren't stupid, they know there are certain fans who will buy kits every season and even by putting the price up £5 they have only gone up with inflation so many will see as the norm. This season was the first time i bought a football shirt since 20-21 season, I did get a track top last season though.

 

Celtic were one of the few that did that. Sponsors will have a say in that. I think i'm more bothered by the 4th shirt last season, that didn't even get * worn. I also think a 3rd kit should be last season's away or have the 3rd kit last 2 seasons. UEFA were a big part of that insisting on 3rd kits for Europe and being very picky about shirt clashes. So a club with white sleeves but a red shirt would clash with Spurs wearing a white shirt.
As long as people buy the kits every season nothing will change. Don't blame kids for loving them though, I did when I was young!!!!!

 

You're right in that they wouldn't be doing it if people weren't still buying it. I'll still buy the tops I like but I'll pick them up in a sale towards the end of the season. Not sure I'll get away with that when my weans are a few years older, seems like kids are always desperate to get the tops the day they come out.

 

My kid is 4 so he doesn't care, doesn't even like football. I get the fear, £55 for a kids shirt and they grow out of them quickly. I'll wear a football shirt for a good few years, they end up becoming gym wear basically.

I've thought about buying ones towards the end of the season but last season's didn't go down until the end of the season. At that point I didn't see the point, had it been February I may have gone and done it.

 

Aye my boys are 4 and 2, you can pick up last season's top for 15 quid and they're none the wiser. I sound like a pure miser but it's just the principle of it. From the shirts to the half-time pie, I'm just sick of getting fleeced.

 

I've bought my son fake kits, the kids real ones are * quality anyway. One did say Magners on it though.

Watching it today made it look worse for me, lines not lining up etc.

 

Love the fact that as a tribute to Big Jock Stein, Llanelli Town have released a Celtic hoops away kit in tribute to their former manager.

 

It doesn't have hoops though sadly, has an all green back, so horizontal stripes.

For sure its a nice looking top as well.


As an aside if you look at a close of their crest it has a sauce pan in the top right corner as you look at it. What the * is that all about? Love the Harp and the Dragon!

 

Play the harp, dragon comes, slay it wi a pan and cook it! Quite an obvious badge really haha
