They are obviously hoping people will get fed up and all this will simply go away. If everyone stands firm and continuously asks for an explanation, they will have to respond and explain themselves. Celtic need to stay on this one too.

They have labelled us Sectarian for singing songs of Irish independence and rebellion. We need to challenge this misconception.

Just wondering if anyone else had a reply from the bbc? rather than go thru it i will paste my reply..hail hail

Thank you for your comments regarding Sportscene: Scottish Cup Final, transmitted on Saturday 21st May 2011

As you’ve advised that you will be making a complaint to Ofcom, it would be most appropriate for the matter to be investigated by them.

Where complainants have taken the opportunity to pursue their complaint via external authorities other than the courts, both the BBC Trust and the BBC Executive may stop the complaints handling procedure.

If the complaint is subsequently resubmitted to the BBC once external investigation has ended, the BBC will not generally reconsider any aspects of complaints that have already been adjudicated upon or considered by an external authority.

We must therefore leave the matter in the hands of Ofcom, who will reply to you once they have considered the matter.

Thank you, once again, for taking the time to contact us.

Details of the BBC complaints process are available online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/handle.shtml

NB This is sent from an outgoing account only which is not monitored. You cannot reply to this email address but if necessary please contact us via our webform quoting any case number we provided.
    Kind Regards

    I'm not picky.
Never even had a reply to the complaint I wrote in. Man, that's a * of a long 7 - 10 days time.

They'll be reluctant to reply if the complaint is now in the hands of Ofcom, don't hold your breath on them saying or doing anything on this.

surely that would only apply if you mentioned in your complaint that you were going to raise the issue with ofcom though ?

i can't remember off the top of my head but i read about the types of complaints that ofcom were able to do something about and they didn't seem to have anything to do with the type of complaint that is being made i.e a complaint regarding content.

there are loads of other complaints on the BBC site that they have answered regarding content (i particularly liked the one about rastamouse)

you can see the complaints here BBC - Complaints - Regular reports

i would imagine their reason (if they even bother to give one) for the late publishing of last month's complaints will involve the bank holiday, neil lennon and catholic schools

[FONT=Tahoma, Verdana, Arial]Thanks for contacting BBC Complaints. Please accept our apologies for the delay in replying; we know our viewers appreciate a quick response and we’re sorry that you’ve had to wait on this occasion.

We have received a number of comments concerning the half-time discussion at this year's Scottish Cup Final, to which BBC Scotland has offered a response on the points raised, as below.

At the half time interval of our live television broadcast of this year's Scottish Cup Final the presenter and one of the guests briefly mentioned that sectarian singing had been heard coming from a minority of Celtic fans. Given the incidents of recent weeks, and taking into account the statement by Neil Lennon posted on the club's official website just days before the Final, it was editorially appropriate to include this short discussion. Sectarianism and associated behaviours have been the topic of much comment this season and five editions of Sportscene in April and May took time to debate the issue in relation to the general problem and to specific incidents such as the sending of parcel bombs and the fining of Rangers FC by UEFA.

There is a continuing debate around the definition of "sectarian" and we accept that it would have been more accurate for our presenter to refer to "songs that some people believe to be an expression of sectarianism but which many people nonetheless find both offensive and provocative".

There is no doubt that the issue of sectarianism in Scotland has moved into a new phase since the events of April and May, with the First Minister asserting that tackling it in all its forms will be a priority for the new government.

BBC Scotland will continue to report on this and all other areas of public interest and debate in a fair and balanced manner over time. We can also assure you that your concerns have been registered on our audience log; this is a daily report of audience feedback that’s made available to many BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, channel controllers and other senior managers.

Thank you for contacting BBC Scotland on this matter. Details of the BBC's complaints processes are available online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/

Now, I am normally a pretty even tempered person & it takes a lot to raise my ire, but this has boiled my blood. :47: I also noticed that they have chosen to reply via email, but have made no official statement on the BBC website:

    Thoughts?

This is how it feels to be Celtic
If these old songs of freedom are considered sectarian then so is Land of Hope and Glory and * save the Queen. Total bollocks this.

    Exactly its racist.

If anyone apart from the Irish ethnic minority in Scotland wanted to sing about their history and heroes. There wouldn't be a problem.

What I want to know if some of our songs are considered offensive or sectarian and they're banned.

Will people stop signing them? Or do they feel so passionately that they will continue even if it means our club will be penalised?
