There was not a single 'Stand up if you...' song sung at the Celtic end during that game, never mind any sectarian version, so he's clearly talking *. Well were singing stand up if you love the well or something though.

I don't wonder at all. The people who were singing at that match wanted to offend the Hearts fans, because they were in a blind rage. It seems to me to be a perfectly understandable, although unacceptable response.

I don't think we need to be so determined to find fault with our own support, especially on that particular night.

However, I also don't see why we should even take that list at face value, considering that it was originally posted on a forum that still has a smilie of our manager being guillotined.

What a load of bollocks, that was never sung nor has it ever been before.

    Excellent post mate :50:.

I really don't get why some fans are * bent on criticising decent fans who reacted to a terrible and vicious attack on our manager.

    Just sent in another complaint:
    "Hi,
I had complained along with many Celtic fans about an inaccuracy made during the Sportscene Scottish Cup Final coverage about pro-IRA chants being deemed sectarian by the presenters and as yet haven't received a reply as I understand many other fans haven't.
Now this inaccuracy has occurred again, in both the 6:30pm & 10:25pm broadcasts of Reporting Scotland on Wednesday (25 May), whilst referring to the sectarian law being brought in by Alex Salmond, a clip was played of Celtic fans singing part of the Celtic Symphony that says "ooh ah up the Ra" which yes is political and debatable in a football stadium, however, is not sectarian, at no point is religion or creed mentioned in the song, IRA songs as pointed out before have been proved in a court of law in this country to not be sectarian, here are the lyrics of Celtic Symphony along with a link for proof that religion or creed is not mentioned:
    Far across the sea,
When the Devil got a hold of me,
    He wouldn't set me free,
He kept me soul for ransom.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...

I'm a sailor man from Glasgow Town,
I've roamed the world around and 'round,
He's the meanest thing that I have found,
In all my days of wandering.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...

I could see his evil eyes,
Then he took me by surprise
    "Take me to your Paradise,
I want to see the jungle!"
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...

    Chorus:
Here we go again, we're on the road again,
We're on the road again, we're on the way to Paradise.
We love the jungle deep, that's where the Lion sleeps,
For then those evil eyes they have no place in Paradise.

I see graffiti on the wall, just as the sun was going down,
I see graffiti on the wall, "Up the Celts, Up the Celts."
Graffiti on the wall it says, "We're Magic, We're Magic,"
    Graffiti on the wall
I see Graffiti on the Wall

    And it says,
"Ooh, ah, Up the 'RA, Oh, ah, Up the 'RA"
    (6 times)

We went through each jungle deep,
For the Paradise that he did seek,
T'was no trip for the weak,
    We're waltzing with the natives.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...

    From the Amazon to Borneo,
    From Africa to Tokyo,
To the darkest jungles of the world,
But nowhere could I lose him.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...

    Around in circles every way,
He turned to me and he did say,
"I think you're leading me astray,
I want your soul me boy-o!"
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na...

    Chorus

Have yet to recieve a reply to the complaint I made the day after the Cup Final, nor had any satisfactory explaination or apology on this matter. Have again submitted a formal complaint this evening.

"Those outside who can hear the songs being sung tell me that the Celtic supporters have been singing some sectarian songs during the first half"

That's the part that really gets to me. Neither of them heard the singing. Someone else told them that there were sectarian songs, and they then proceeded to level accusations without bothering to find out if the information given was true or not.

My 9 year old daughter asked what we where singing and to my disappointment now, I said some of the Celtic fans where singing bold songs against a different religion to them. More so because I didn’t hear it myself and assumed it had to be something to that effect. I took the words of the presenters as being what it was.

I am delighted now but still angry at the fact that the BBC felt the need to push for these comments to be made.

Let’s not forget, the editor of this show was coordinating what was to be said and Rob was following orders.

This is slander and an apology is not enough here. A good civil case with plenty of media coverage is what’s needed.

There are 2 issues at stake here; that someone off camera either directed Maclean & Nevin to engage in such a conversation, be it either ill-advised or knowingly erronious, but either way, without having established such fact, permitted these accusations to be made.

The second calls into question the integrity of Maclean & Nevin. The wording of Maclean's comments, while perhaps indicate how this was directed by person or persons off camera, who are guilty of this accusation, the fact that both chose to comply, rather than await evidene that they were personally satisfied with existed, rather than levelling baseless accusations.

I believe that on behalf of the Celtic support present that day, against whom these accusations have been made, that there is grounds for a civil case...

Anyone got Paul McBride QC's phone number?

Out of curiosity was there any IRA chants or add-ons? I didn't hear any but wasn't in the Celtic end.

I didn't hear/ can't remember hearing any 'pro ira songs' at Hampden, certainly not in the 1st half.
