I'm glad the club are doing something about this. I doubt they take much notice of fan complaints (they probably get at least 800 from the Huns when someone wears a green tie) but it is a lot harder to ignore Celtic Fooball Club when they demand answers.

I was really disappointed when I heard these comments, especially in Pat Nevin as he has always struck me as being a really intelligent guy. My thoughts are that they were either pre-planned & staged, directed by persons off camera, or that he felt compelled to follow Maclean's lead.

Either way it raises questions regarding his integrity, as he does know the difference between what is sectarian & what isn't, yet by buying into this & furthermore, saying that he speaks out about this at every opportunity is widely inaccurate & certainly damages his creditability.

I, like many others, wrote a complaint to the BBC on the weekend, and have yet to recieve any answers as yet. I am pleased that Celtic are no going to stand & allow this media generated lie to escape censure either.

get intae them Celtic!! :47: :50:

i honestly could not believe it when i heard this, was watching the game in the pub and for some reason they had the sound off at HT so didnt hear it at the time; utterly disgraceful and obvious attempt at tarring us with the same brush as THEM. no doubt needed something to back up the crock of * (bombs bigotry and football) they broadcast during the week :38:

First time I have heard this :31: I think the club should make a response on this , as it is not fair on the loyal support to be branded wrongly on national television like this, I would say that was pre planned, And ye big Jons body movement looks slightly awkward.

I'm afraid the powers that be would only have to pop the Swinecastle video in where "these songs" were abundantly clear - whether provoked or not...

A particularly adamant Hun fan posted the list below on loads of forums detailing the songs/chants which were clearly audible on the TV coverage:

1:44 – Ooh Ahh Up the RA
    3:08 – Roll of Honour
6:03 – Off to join the IRA/Boys of the old brigade
10:04 – Ooh Ah Up the Ra
    15:00 – Oh the wee h*** are *
    22:00 - Merry Ploughboy
29:00 - Sean of south garyowen
38:45 – Get the Brits out now
44:00 – Oh ah Up the RA
    50:00 – P.I.R.A
    53:00 - IRA
55:00 – Never Defeat the IRA
    58:00 – Jim Jeffries is a sad orange *
    59:00 - Oh the wee h*** are *
64:00 - IRA All the way, **** the Queen and the UDA
66:00 – Off to join the IRA
72:00 – Michael Fagan Shagged the Queen
    73:00 – Go home ya h***
79:00 – Go home British Soldiers
    87:00 - Oh the wee h*** are *

...as Jim Jeffries said after the game "they went through the whole songbook"

The question remains - WHAT SONGS ARE ACCEPTABLE?

The PIRA chanting aside, I think most Republican minded Celts see the 'Rebel' songs as acceptable. But to the outside world it is always gonna be a different story. Anything remotely referring to Ireland will be held up as sectarian, inflamatory,

'TBOTOB' was clearly sang at CP towards the end in the 'Well game a week ago, 'Roll of Honour' too. The PA system blasted out "Celtic Symphony" before the game and then stopped right on the Ooh Ah bit.... I'd rather they didn't bother at all cos either it is - or it isn't allowed?

The Ooh Ahh with Samoras tagged on the end can often be misinterpreted - However we know it's from a legitimate song - referencing graffiti on a wall... Fact, but to the viewing public watching on TV......

One persons perception will always be different to anothers but until a definitive list is published, Celtic fans will always be under scrutiny.

Nevin has been at it all season, anyone remember his angry rant about Celtic questioning referees integrity, and their being no conspiracy?
I've loathed him since that moment, him and his mate the pen.

Is that list even true? The huns have done things like that before and been shown to be mistaken or more likely lying.

I was at the game on saturday and those accusations are a load of nonsense. The crowd were well up for the game, singing celtic songs and made for an amazing atmosphere throughout :shamrock:
