Thats completely wrong mate, Ultras are merely fanatics and came to prominance in Italy, Sampdoria were the first team to have a recognised Ultras group and it was more due to the banners, flares, drums and chants in the ground. Political Ultra movements came in the 70's and 80's

    The tolerant GB - not

I joined the GB forum in 2009. I lasted 1 post when I disagreed with their actions at Falkirk. I simply pointed out that as the son of 2 Irish parents I was proud of that heritage, but as a father of a serving soldier, I was proud of him and wore a poppy on my scarf each year. The post lasted for less than 10 minutes and I was banned for the forum. Those who ban people who disagree with them should check the meaning of facism.

The noise and atmosphere is fine, but the singing of Republican songs is now an anachronism and merely now embarrasses our great club. Celtic are right to bring them to heel and have a greater responsibility to the majority of fans who do not want to continually be linked to these songs. I sang them in my youth and fully understood their import at the time. That time is now past.

As far as standing is concerned, why not consult effectively with the club and Police to see if it is feasible to create a safe standing area within the ground? That would be the logical (and *) thing to do!

I like the Ultra sort of thing. I think the European's do it well and their fans are better than most of the teams in Britain.

I believe that if people want to respect the poppy then that's ok, and if people don't agree, its ok. The beauty of freedom of speech.
Some of the Irish descended Celtic supporters have had family who have served in the armed forces at one point of another as there's been a war every decade practically.
I don't see too much wrong with republican songs myself in the same way I don't see much wrong with the flower of scotland. It reminds me of my Irish roots and what my family probably went through. Those songs are an important part of history. It doesn't make me a bigot though or mean that people can't move on. No country should rule another IMO. I don't hate the armed forces. These men and women are being put in danger for politics.

Ultras aren't anti fascist as a whole, in fact groups are often either right wing fascist or left wing (antifa). Some groups however choose to be apolitical.

its common knowledge. to think that all Ultra's are Anti-Fascist is either severely ill informed or naive.

look at the Russian Ultra scene or the scene round most of Eastern Europe, its far from Anti-Fascist.

Boixos Nois at Barca are absolute animals too, the were taken over by skinheads in the 80's and turned into rascist scumbags.

Anti fascists, who ban people for disagreeing with them. Hypocritical, I'd say. Maybe GB don't really know what it is that they stand for, a lot of us are certainly struggling to understand them.

i dont think the gb are actually helping the team with these actions of walkouts and protests do we want to see a return to the 90s ,i also dont think that there sing song are helping the team because they continually sing through the whole game which isnt a bad thing but sometimes the players just want to hear a roar from the stands that helps them push on a bit .these guys have become a side show and they are not bigger than celtic

About 75% of the time I think the GB are great, where I sit the only people singing are me and my Da, so being close to the GB at least keeps the atmosphere going. I also sing when the rest of the stadium (not very often) sing whilst the GB seem to just carry on their own songs. This is what I find strange, why don't they join in? Are they that detached from the rest of us?

i think there's too much ambiguity and confusion around calling yourself 'Ultras'. My understanding (and could be wrong) that the Lazio fans have astrong Ultras group supporting the team, and they are highly facist and racist. Im sure also there are other Ultras groups who are a-political or even marxist.

Green Brigade - regardless of agenda - should be careful that they dont allow the media, or even those within Celtic, use this confusion to achieve their own goals re. the future of the Green Brigade and section 111.
