    I agree with you.

Although I do believe the Green Brigade express the sentiments of the majority that go to Celtic games.

John Reid is seen as a war criminal with thousands of people's blood on his hands due to illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The GB did a form of protest that ultras do over the world which coincidently is putting the banner upside down.

If I can remember correctly there have been displays showing solidarity with the Basque country, support for Palestine, anti-fascist displays, and demonstrations against the SNP's biased and discriminatory legislation to 'even things up'- amongst others.

As others have mentioned the Green Brigade (as far as I'm aware) have never said they represent the whole Celtic support. Although, having said that, I do believe they express what the majority believe.

You've given yourself an example. The Poppy banner. Unwarranted and unneeded.

Yes, I suppose at no point have the GB claimed to speak for the rest of the fans, but when a large banner is displayed amongst 50,000 fans to an outsiders perspective that banner could represent the views of those fans.

Being generally anti-fascist I suppose, not supporting Di Canio playing in the Tommy Burns game, Che Guevarra flags, banners against modern football prices.

I happen to agree with and support them in all those actions.

Am I the only one that agreed with the anti-poppy banner?

Clubs shouldn't be forced to wear poppies if their fans see it as inappropriate. They were just protesting against wearing poppies, what ever happened to freedom of speech?

Make your own banner supporting poppies then if it bothers you that much. I'd like to see you try to unravel that banner at Celtic Park.

The poppy banner was very much needed, it represented a massive groundswell of discontent that was rumbling amongst the support. If people are anti-politics at football they can't support the poppy on football tops.

It's amazing that after we started getting some success at the turn of the Millennium that the whole dynamic of our support changed.

It's as if we picked up a whole new fan base who don't understand what Celtic is all about and just supported us for the glory...

And before anyone accuses me of being elitist or anything like that I am happy we have all these supporters but I wish they would just support Celtic how they want to and leave the rest of us to continue to support the club the way we and our Families have done for Generations.

Not at all mate:50: There was huge debates on here and the majority didn't want the poppy, and I actually see this forum as one of the more conservative (unfortunately) Celtic forums around.

Too many fans like right now only go to Celtic Park to "watch the football" and nothing more, maybe moan at the team with their mates at full time maybe even praise them once a while. When they score, stand up applause and sit down. The GB are a way of escaping this new sort of fan we seem to be attracting.

Mate, where I sit, when the 'stand up for the champions' chant happens I'm one of the few that stand up:56: That's how bad it is, they won't even stand up for 5 seconds ffs. Just all tutting and moaning because people are standing up for a wee bit.

I don't know why I bother reading this as it just angers me. Why can't everyone go to the football and just do whatever the * they like without being looked down upon or judged by other members of our own support?

I don't mean to pick on anyone but I have noticed certainly but the people who mostly do the thing I said are chunky 50 year old men. That's just from experience. Sorry if anyone on here is a chunky 50 year old man but that's what I've seen. :56: they must have seen the jungle and I wonder what they'd have been doing as young lads.

Well, I agree with the * Fascism stuff.

And I agree * the SFA.

I can't actually remember any of these displays and stuff in the stadium though. Was mostly just support for Celtic and Neil Lennon over the last two years.

Each to their own though. Although anybody who agrees with Fascism in the Celtic support should go * themselves.

The last noticeable political display was poppy gate. However there was a small flag display for Palestine before the end of last season.

As I've said before, I think it is the 'political edge' of the Celtic support which makes the club so unique- and not just another generic, soul-less football team.

    Exactly.

That's why many of us are drawn to Celtic it is a special club that is beyond just another football team.

quelcom més que un club de futbol
