There’s clearly a real cultural problem when people think that it’s ok to make that sort of mess. Don’t have a problem with people having fun and it seems like most people were there in good spirits. A few years back the gathering there was amazing. I get that there aren’t the bins there (or anywhere in Glasgow for that matter - maybe that needs looked at). But ffs, there’s no need for just dumping it wherever you like or * against someone’s business or front door.

It’s a little bit embarrassing. Back when we went to Munich a few years ago the Marienplatz was just as bad. Most people in the west of Scotland (and it’s not just Celtic fans) just don’t give a *.

2 years ago it was tremendous.

Last year was ok but seen lots of vandalism and bams, young and old. Saw a guy in his 50s, falling about the streets, who had clearly * himself. And that was only bout back of 4.

Stayed well clear of it yesterday.

Minority are ruining it for everyone else and the minority seems to be increasing each year.

It would have to be plastic because you couldn't allow smashed glass all over the grass like you see all over the street. It's tougher to clean up and more dangerous. Pricing wise, it would be nice if they priced appropriately and passed the funds on to charity, but knowing how Celtic is run it feels unlikely!

Ultimately it wouldn't be an issue if people behaved themselves. But sadly we live in a country that has both an alcohol issue and a pretty anti social culture (uk not just scotland). Better to try and accommodate the situation before the police inevitably try to ban it.

It’s a problem that seems to be worse on the west coast than the east.

Left Glasgow 7/8 years ago, and while it’s a great city, there does seem to be far less civic responsibility/pride than I’ve seen on the east coast. Anyone who has seen the contrast between Kelvingrove Park and the Meadows on a sunny day will know what I mean. There are exceptions, but one is usually spotless by evening, while the other is a mess.

I don’t think the biggest problem is the small minority of people who do trash the place, it’s the larger percentage who see it as acceptable or normal. It a sort of ‘boys will be boys’ attitude.

Always disliked the ‘people make Glasgow’ slogan because of this. It’s true to an extent - there is a number of positive distinct characteristics in weegies, but they don’t half lack pride in and responsibility for their own city at times.

Far as Merchant City goes, the percentage of roasters increases incrementally as the amount of people that attends does and that’s the small minority that ruins it for everyone. They’re only there to get as drunk as possible and act the goat, if it wasn’t Celtic it would be for some other reason. No different to match days in that respect TBH.

Any gatherings like that will always result in a few roasters.

I would be willing to bet there is more extreme violence every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights when the clubs spill out.

While I don't condone trouble, the fact that riot polis weren't deployed shows that this story is being blown out of all proportion.

I say this as someone who wouldn't attend one of these events again after my daughter nearly got hit with a bottle after the treble treble bus parade got cancelled.

I blamed one * for that, not the thousands I was surrounded with who partied with us, gave my daughter a tricolour and she made about 50 quid starting songs :giggle1: She started COYBIG at least 4 times, got the whole street rocking while on my shoulders lol.

Yes, there was some trouble on Saturday and a bit of a mess on the streets (just like any large gathering of people) however, I don't think it was as bad as the red tops are making out and for one of them to say it was "carnage" is up there with that particular * paper's previous attacks on us i.e. the coffin and the cracked crest etc. It was nothing compared to the * storm we all witnessed in George's Square from the huns but was just "over exuberant fans". I wonder if they will also be as vocal during the "marching season" when thousands pish stained huns litter the streets while belting out their songs of hate

Some halfwit msp calling for stadium closures and points deductions.

    * me!! Absolutely brain dead. Has * all to do with the club. What's next points deductions if a murder supports a certain team?

The finger of blame should be pointed at the incompetent police force. If there allowing folk to break the law then that's on them.

Where was that when huns wrecked the city twice in a manner of weeks and rioted? Always the same.

As mentioned it's a small minority, more of a society problem than specifically a footballing one.

    It was carnage.

It's the same as the Gallowgate on a big match day, always attracts the biggest roasters from nowhere near local who always cause * mayhem.

It was celebrating the winning of a football league. So to do with society, sure, but definitely football related.

Naw m8, the definition of carnage is the killing of a large number of people and wanton destruction. I saw none of that on Saturday just coked up wee neds and drunk wee lassies doing what wee neds and drunk lassies do and, as I said, the rubbish left behind (although unsightly) was no different from the rubbish left at all all large gatherings
