What did the board expect to happen. There is always going to be pressure at some point in the season vs that lot. Might come early on, might come late.

Rodger’s showed who he was the first time he was here. He’s a * snake of a man, always looks to blame - whether that be the board or the players. He never mans up and takes full responsibility for results or performances.

On his day he can be a good manager especially in big games. The problem is, he’s a *. We don’t like him, meaning when the pressure mounts he will be afforded no time or good will. A * random foreign manager a la Deila would be given the benefit of the doubt for longer. When it comes to this rat *, patience wares thin and mine has completely worn out.

We don’t owe this * * all. He came back up here thinking he would stroll it. Giving Mikey Johnstone chances like a battered housewife who thinks ‘I’ll change him’


I could see this happen, many others could as well. But our bowling club board couldn’t. * sums Celtic up. Criminally managed.

No matter what your feelings are about the GB, the Bhoys, Politics and the likes.. The support need to come together against the real enemy thats killing this club.. DD, Lawwell and the absolute waste of space board.

Board wont want them back now, most vocal elements of the Celtic support who have shown before they wont think twice about calling out these *, board wont want them in with the support already getting toxic.

 

Wouldn't surprise me to see them back but under serious watch. No banners(nothing being said against the board or owner)… Whether we want to admit it or not, the GB have the ability and the voice to unite the stadium in song and colour. The board know that another "falling asleep at the wheel" banner would be met with absolute applause and there would be a lot directed towards the board over the next few weeks.

After Keith Jacksons latest piece in the Rags, I have absolutely no doubt that the board will splash some cash in the window. Lawwall, as always, putting out little titbits to his buddies in the media.

If there not back for the 30th then I don’t us winning. Players will crumble again under the moans and groans starting at the first poor pass. Not enough leaders in the team, if any at all. Crowd obviously don’t have the full say on a result but play a big part especially at home in the derbys.

Perhaps now would be a good time for a bit of perspective where Celtic and their simmering support is concerned.

A lamentable weekend became a little bit more insufferable on Sunday when their nearest and dearest picked up the first silverware of the domestic season at Hampden and the sight of those celebrations will have done nothing to lighten the current mood in the east end of the city. It’s not quite full-blown panic stations in the car park yet. But it’s not all that far off either.

The spontaneous eruption of anger and toxicity after Hearts took an unassailable two-goal lead at Parkhead on Saturday was actually quite staggering, given that Celtic remain perched at the top of the league table regardless.

The gap may be closing more rapidly than these fans are prepared to tolerate but even so, the levels of vitriol will have sent a shiver down the spine of chairman Peter Lawwell who has been in this movie before. And who had to leave out the back door with a blanket over his head as the quest for 10 successive titles collapsed among furious rancour.

‘When the herd moves’ is how someone once put it, after having to give up a No.10 of his own. But not even BoJo was hounded out with the kind of hostility that confronted Lawwell before he stepped down as chief executive in 2021. So these feel like familiar and dangerous moments for the man who returned to the helm less than a year ago

A section of the club’s supporters didn’t want him back and that militant cohort felt much the same way about Brendan Rodgers when he was brought back as Ange Postecoglou’s successor in the summer.

These malcontents bristle at the very mention of the word ‘entitlement’ but it’s difficult to see them in any other light, at least not when the track record of both of these men is taken into account. Rodgers delivered seven successive trophies during his unblemished first stint in charge. If there was a man better qualified to take over when Postecoglou upped sticks he’s yet to show his face.

And Lawwell’s 17 years in the CEO’s office coincided with a period of such undiluted domestic dominance that Rangers were effectively reduced to a sporting irrelevance in their own backyard. Perhaps that’s why the potential re-emergence of the Ibrox club as legitimate contenders under Philippe Clement has provoked such a stinging, bulging-eyed response.

Celtic have become so used to ruling the roost that the very idea of a serious challenge from across the city is deemed as being completely unacceptable That’s not to say these fans should be delighted to have some stiffer opposition to challenge their sense of superiority.

Football supporters do not work that way and most certainly not in this part of the world. But despite the frenzied nature of the environment, some calm heads and clear thinking will be required now that Rodgers and Lawwell find themselves dragged into the heart of the battle.

Rodgers took a back seat in the summer at a time when Lawwell’s son Mark was heading up a £20million recruitment drive. The new manager may technically have rubber-stamped many or even all of those signings but these ‘projects’ were not his idea.

Instead there was a period of overlap between Postecoglou’s sudden departure and Rodgers’ return. Celtic had to get on with business during those weeks and it feels safe to assume the former boss had a hand in putting those plans in place.

Postecoglou’s working relationship with Lawwell Jnr, after all, had been long established. At Celtic’s recent agm current chief executive Michael Nicholson revealed the Aussie personally handpicked the young Lawwell for the position, an endorsement made on the back of their time together at the City Group.

It was this relationship that first brought Postecoglou to the attention of Lawwell Snr when Eddie Howe was humming and hawing over the prospect of diving into Glasgow’s goldfish bowl. So suggestions of nepotism don’t hold much water even if there are some Celtic fans who have decided otherwise. But that doesn’t mean the hierarchy can be let off the hook for a catalogue of costly misadventures in the transfer market.

On the contrary, Celtic have to take ownership of this mess and acknowledge that Rodgers requires some big hitting, tried and tested reinforcements in time for the second half of the campaign. And that’s regardless of what happens on the pitch when Rangers and Clement come calling at the end of this month, looking to go top of the table for Christmas.

Rodgers has repeatedly expressed his desire to add more ‘quality’ to a squad bloated with mediocrity. Given that there is more than £70m currently gathering dust in the bank account, Celtic cannot reasonably refuse to let the man in charge take a few quid to the casino in the New Year.

Rather than spread the chips thinly around the roulette table, in the hope of getting lucky with one or two of them, Rodgers will be looking for some safe bets. And they don’t come cheaply. In his eyes, it would have made more sense to fork out £20m on three or four ‘quality’ additions over the summer than to blow the lot on a raft of long shots.

That’s why what comes next, when the transfer market opens up will be so utterly fascinating. First and foremost the manager and his board must ensure they are singing from the same hymn sheet where the next batch of transfer targets are concerned.

If they can do that it will go some way to getting the fans back on board too, at a time when unity is required in the face of a genuine title fight. Should they fail to do all of the above recent history shows the consequences are unlikely to be pretty.

 

I'm sorry, but that is just an opinion piece. The second to last paragraph doesn't contain any assurances the board and Rodgers will indeed be cooperating.

Lawwell Sr. and Rodgers have been at loggerheads since a long time ago, and I am more inclined to believe the Paul Larkin story will continue.
