Celtic fined £15,200 by Uefa over fans 'provocative messages'

Celtic have been fined £15,200 after fans displayed "provocative messages of an offensive nature" during the Champions League match against Atletico Madrid last month.

The sanction comes from European football's governing body, Uefa, with Celtic having warned supporters before the match not to display Palestinian flags during the game.

The Scottish champions were also fined £10,000 for fans blocking passageways and using pyrotechnics.

The issues are likely to be raised at the Scottish Premiership club's annual meeting on Wednesday.

Celtic this month banned the Green Brigade section of fans from attending games, citing a number of "unacceptable behaviours", including the use of pyrotechnics, rushing turnstiles, illegally gaining access and forcing open fire exits at Motherwell's Fir Park.

Stressing that the suspension was "not imposed as a result of the display of Palestinian flags", Celtic said they would offer season ticket refunds to some of the fans affected.

Meanwhile, Atletico were fined £2,600 for their fans lighting fireworks at the match in Glasgow.

I think this may be the last push for Israel...The US is on the way out as a super power and with BRICS all dropping the $ for trade including Saudi Arabia (which is big) and Russia and China getting together, the US now in mega debt, while Russia is now posting profits, I think it's only a matter of time until Israel goes, if the US goes...

Having said that..this is about the gas fields and the canal = mega money for Israel, which is why I think they're going for it now. Basically, a last throw of the dice...although this is all probably for the Israel thread.

 

I doubt the US will ever be on their way out as a superpower. They are by far the most advanced nation in every way (apart from their stupid gun laws)

 

I don't wear a poppy, that's enough to satisfy my feeling towards what's become a comedy day show.

I'm also not a fukin moron who'd go out their way to drag the reputation of the club through the gutter by booing whilst the club and other fans wish to stay silent.

 

Equally I'm not a * moron to be disrespectful to all the innocent men, women and children that have been murdered, lands stolen, women rapped and some even beheaded by the British Army! Put that into perspective! Didn't seem like there has been much progress made with regards the GB ban, going by the AGM stuff today. Which tells me none of the members or the group as a whole, are still not able to accept their part in all this.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but the longer they ignore the health and safety stuff the less likely they are to be accepted back into the fold. Big boy pants time lads, get it together.

 

I've been reading for decades now that the US is finished/in decline and yet they are still unquestionably the most powerful country on the planet. According to most estimates, every day of the war in Ukraine costs Russia $500 million to $1 billion." if thats profit I'd hate to see what losses look like.
