Celtic Supporters Thread (contains GB chat)

Was always gonna happen after last week. Should’ve done something outside the stadium to show support for Palestine.

 

I generally take the GB's point of view; but I do see an issue with if I'm completely honest. Most of the police are just doing their job and I could see someone getting badly beaten or worse because someone recognises them from a photo. It makes me uncomfortable. Nor should the police be filming the GB either for all sorts of reasons. I'm not saying it's unacceptable for the GB to do that or that I have any right to say it should stop or anything like that; I'm just saying that I don't like it. I don't see anything constructive the mutual filming leads to.

 

Reading the statement the board has put out isn't great reading tbf be interested to see the response from the GB

 

This suggestion is meant as a joke.
All GB members who are shareholders threaten Celtic that if not reinstated they will sell their shares to known loyalist members of Sevco.

 

What would be the point in that?

I'm fully behind the support for Palestine and it was many more than the GB that partook..

The timing and the ambiguous wording of the banner after the Hamas atrocities, was definitely misjudged..

 

On the fire exits. Can they confirm for certain it was GB members that done that? Or is just a good thing to put in the statement without knowing if it was or it wasn’t?

 

Because it’s been assumed it was them.

If any Celtic supporter was flying a flag or displaying a banner in support of HAMAS then they should be banned but not if it was just a Palestinian flag.

 

I just think it’s only fair to hear what their response is first. There are certain people in high places at Celtic who have a clear vendetta against the GB however, so I’ll hold fire on the crucifixion just now.

 

Aye I really don’t see how they would know this for certain to be honest. Looks good for their reasoning for banning them though, and no doubt enough will be happy to just accept that it must be true as it came from the board.

 

This is clearly all about the Palestinian flags … although the club seem to have mentioned every possible offence except that. It’s so obvious…. and cowardly not to be honest about it.

Im a born cynic - and it’s kept me sharp for a few decades now - but I’d bet my months earnings that there has been external pressure on the club from somewhere… SFA, police, u€fa , government … whoever.

So has there been a terrorist flag flown? Because I’ve not seen one yet? So if that’s false, it then calls into question the statement in general.

 

The PFLP flag was definitely flown and they're a designated terrorist group by lots of countries and the EU, but surprisingly don't think by the UK.

 

Aside from the fire exit issue at the away ground, which I can't see where they've got the proof it was only individuals from the standing securing at Celtic Park who were involved, the boards issue seems to be that there's a section of fans who are determined to express they're political beliefs through artwork within the stadium. A board who we have seen on multiple occasions are happy to flaunt political support for this or that issue, as long as it suits their narrative!

They've got their feelings hurt because some young fellas snuck into the ground and put up a display. They've got their feeling hurt because their own personal political allegiances conflict with that of the supporters group.

If the police are acting in an intimidating manor and filming in order to express their power, then the group have every right to film back. Noone has the right of privacy in the public setting of Celtic Park.

That would bring Celtic into conflict with UEFA since CL is run by them and UK clubs have to follow their rules.

Edit. They are. The UK proscribed them in 2014.

What they going to do as you see Palastine flags in other areas of the ground? Ban everyone?

I don't always agree with the GB but it's their right to voice an opinion.
