Fully supportive of a Russian propaganda peddler getting targeted by Ukraine, in the same way I would be of a Zionist propaganda peddler getting targeted by the people of Palestine.

You would be a fool to consider either party entirely innocent in that scenario.

What I do consider to be innocent are the children of either side, hence I’ll never stand by a statement that lends itself in support to actions that directly killed dozens/hundreds of them, and will indirectly kill hundreds/thousands more.

If you feel the need to, then you do you.

    * *, I read your first post and was about to ask where you'd been.

A few posts later my question was answered before it was asked :giggle1:

I'm not defending the board at all FFS. I'm saying that those songs, regardless of how political they are have relevance to Celtic, whereas there's plenty of irrelevant political * that gets put out by the club (and football clubs generally) that has * all to do with the sport that he could've pointed to in his tweet. It's a weak argument imo but I agree with the point he's making about hypocrisy.

As for Bella ciao I know nothing of the song other than it's been adopted by Celtic fans so pardon my ignorance on that.

They must have their reasons and I'm waiting to see what they are, but I must admit I find it confusing. It's not even like you have to draw a distinction between the Palestinian cause and Hamas per se. They don't have to go full 'Gandhi' and only support non-violent resistance; it's quite easy to double down on affirming the legitimacy of the military aspect of the Palestinian struggle but still condemn the deliberate, cold-blooded massacre of hundreds of innocent civilians. The only thing I can think of is that maybe there are internal divisions and they can't agree on how to word such a statement.

In comparison to what is happening, it is utterly unimportant if the group is banned for whatever length of time; but the lack of clarity undermines even their own efforts to help the Palestinians. Surely they can't think that most Celtic fans are going to raise a Palestinian flag at a game when their lack of communication has left it open to being interpreted as supporting what Hamas did.

What they did say was very good, though.

There's an interesting philosopher I watch on YouTube who argues that a 3-way distinction needs to be made. Civilian casualties are inevitable in any war; but in his view, there are 3 totally different levels of responsibility:

    Trying to kill innocent civillians.
Not trying to kill innocent civilians.
Trying not to kill innocent civilians (but occasionally failing because it's not possible to succeed 100%).

I find his argument persuasive. Some civilian deaths are inevitable in a war, but the first two categories should be considered war crimes rather than collateral damage.

I initially wondered this myself; but while it helps Netenyahu, it massively hurts Israel and the US. I'm open to the idea but not currently convinced.

I wish the Celtic Board were as proactive and quick to release statements when it comes to other matters that really do embarrass our Club.

That said, the GB banner does seem to be in poor taste, or poorly timed, and they had the opportunity to put the record straight but chose not to.

They are correct about hypocrisy, but to be fair, the Board were always going to have to make a statement.

I wish the GB and the Board would communicate openly and honestly with each other.

I didn’t see a Hamas flag flying. First I’ve heard of this to be honest as well so I’m assuming the guy who has posted that is talking nonsense as surely it would have been brought up already if there had been.

Your blind refusal to see anything said against the GB is getting rather tiresome. Whether or not it is true re the Hamas flag, the image Celtic is now getting is one of Hamas-supporting terrorist sympathisers (rightly or wrongly) as a direct result of their banner and subsequent refusal to clarify their message.

The account making the post was created this month, probably the last few days and it's statement looks to be deliberately spreading lies.

Putting other things aside misinformation and propoganda are not helpful in the current situation.

There's enough difficulty and complexity in the current situation without that.

These bams are worse than the Green brigade. I like a lot of what they do but If you hate the * polis clap your hands followed by awkward silences from most at champions league games ‍

Again we all support Palestine I imagine but it’s not just a case of these people having no sensitivity/sense of timing, intentionally rubbing peoples faces in a tragedy that happened a thousand miles away while also trying to take the moral high ground. At a * football game
