Not sure what you mean there. Every one of the songs mentioned is political in one way or another.

Let the people sing which is played weekly at CP literally has the lyrics “the lullabies, and battle cries and songs of hope and joy” which the board then tell us they don’t accept when we do sing “battle cries”.

Moronic take and equivalence. Best ignored as just thinly disguised click bait.

Aye I understand not wanting associated with the Palestine stuff right at this very moment but it’s a bit rich for the club to distance themselves from politics all together when they endorse all the stuff you said

Sing our songs. Fly our flags. Were celtic. The board arent owners. Our fans are celtic. No one else can tell any fan who or what to support. This only occurred due to the hamas attack which i totally condemn. But im sick as * of * israeli govt committing atrocities over decades with no one giving a * except our fans. As i have said before im more proud of what the club have done off the field than on it . Free palestine. Hh

Its more understandable to play songs that are linked to historical events relevant to the clubs formation and those who founded, played for and support the club, even if they could be deemed 'political'.

Wider societal issues and political movements that have nothing to do with sport, let alone football or celtic, still get brought into focus despite their irrelevance - mainly as virtue signalling/for PR purposes imo.

It's the wording, not the expression of support for Palestine/Israel generally. If they were cheering 'victory to the occupation' or something, I'd assume they were cheering on the IDF's actions. It's the wording of the banner.

The truth of the matter is, it's not enough for them just to express support for Palestine, they have to get a line in there referencing the military struggle because they stand with the Rebulz. The GB's stance on any given issue is that of a teenage lad who saw a video about Marxism on TikTok, it's not as if this is the first time they've fired wide of the mark with a political banner.

I don’t completely agree with the way you’ve worded it as I think there are people within that group who are a lot smarter than this incident would indicate, but it does stink of immaturity.

    Good statement..

However, I thought the wording/timing of the banner at the weekend was ill-conceived.

Agreed. Also think they probably should have brought up the Hamas thing (as in * them) - where every * around the world think we are supporting Hamas. Big difference to supporting Palestine.

The fact that they haven’t suggests/confirms to me what a lot of us were thinking was the case but were hoping was not i.e. the banner was with reference to the events that occurred that morning.

I think we need to stop supporting causes around the world that have got * all to do with us, our history, our people or our culture.

Yes it is horrific what is happening in Palestine. But there is many similarly horrific wars happening across the world, with death tolls much the same as in Palestine. If you look at some of the African countries and civil wars that have raged for decades, killing thousands and largely ignored by the mainstream media.

Its my opinion that some of our support latch on to the plight of the Palestinians as they see it as a similar situation to the plight of republicans in the North of Ireland. Well....whilist it might be similar (and with all due respect).....I doubt very much that many Palestinians give a flying * about the situation in the North of Ireland. They do not have football teams who's fans wave Irish tri-colours to show solidarity with Republicans in Ireland. They do not care at all about what is happening, or what has happened in Ireland.

While it is fine for us to empathize. It is unessescary to completely support something that we have no link to whatsoever....especially when there is little to zero similar support from Palestine concerning the Ireland situation. I dont think we should be throwing our hat in the ring for something that has nothing to do with us.

Do we support the rebels in Chechnya aswell? What about the plight of the Chinese Uighur Muslims? The Boers in South Africa? The Quebecan seperatist movement in Canada? Where does it end? Just because people rebel doesnt mean that they are the same as we are or that they have anything to do with us whatsoever

Aye, they could have definitely addressed that, unless they don't want to/believe its justified..

It's the people of Palestine who continue to suffer the most..

I don’t mind if we support the People of Palestine but I can’t agree with such a banner on a day where Terrorists like Hamas and Hisbollah are doing such shameful and cruel things.
We should make a difference m, cause with this banner we supported them aswell

Hopefully but when they have as big a say/platform as they do... A wee bit of give to the rest of us can sometimes help.

With not a single word of condemnation, following that banner which certainly was very poorly worded (I’m being very generous), for hamas it can’t be seen as a good statement JC.
