Made the mistake of looking at the Palestine flag reaction on Celtic facebook pages. * me it’s like an alternate universe on there. Every forum I’ve checked, blog, even Twitter, has been 95% anger at the club for taking down the flags and almost universal solidarity with Palestine. Facebook though? Like forelock tugging huns backing the board no matter what

Weirdos.

 

Forget about the flags in support of Palestine for a moment

to remove a tribute to a dead Celtic fan because rip salah was written on his home country’s flag was a despicable act especially at a time when the team were wearing black armbands in tribute for another death, and considering we hold minutes silences for political figures (keep politics out of football eh) and royal figures with no association with celtic

 

Just gives eejits a platform to spout utter * mate. Probably folk who would get lost going to Celtic Park.

You probably get a better representation of supporters views on dedicated forums, although still a bit off the views of those that actually attend CP on a regular basis

 

Have to disagree there lad, every fan of every club will view football or the way clubs are run in completely light regardless if they’ve been a season ticket holder for 20 years or never been to the ground in their lives. I’ve always felt uneasy about this whole “you need to be a ST holder to have a real opinion” trash spouted. I’ve sat next to some roasters over the years, yet sat next to some of the most genuine and knowledgeable too. Just because some are privileged enough get to the games doesn’t mean you know football or the club any better than that of someone who can’t.

 

get out of our club you nest of tory rats you dont belong here. what kind of despicable * would you have to be to go out of your way to remove thoes flags when people are being slaughtered

 

They were deleting posts mate. I had two posts from Facebook and one from Instagram removed..I'd say they removed 100s in the space of minutes..thats what your dealing with now when it comes to our club.

Mine was probably deemed abusive.. "* Peter Lawwell, * Desmond, * the board " others were nothing more than free Palestine or Palestine flags etc..

 

Also the post Celtic put up charging £70 for the Broony trackie top was getting censored too. I think they gave up on that because 99.9% of the reactions from supporters was GTF..

 

Green Brigade Statement:

This morning the Green Brigade set up two small tributes for two issues close to the hearts of Celtic supporters.

First, we paid tribute to departing Celtic captain, Scott Brown. Unable to give Scott the send-off he deserves tonight, we left a banner to mark his final match at Celtic Park. The ‘Brown 8’ banner not only honours Brown but reflects a special, charity, tribute t-shirt being sold by North Curve Celtic, with proceeds supporting the Hospital for Children, Glasgow. Around £7,000 has been raised to date.

Second, we displayed a legitimate flag which has been proudly flown by Celtic fans for generations. We are disappointed, though sadly not surprised, that the flag of Palestine causes distress for Celtic plc. While we view flying the Palestinian flag as an act of humanity and solidarity, the removal and censorship of the flag demonstrates how far our current board have strayed from the values of Celtic Football Club. To remain neutral on hideous and violent acts of oppression is to side with the oppressor, which is an affront to the founding ethos of our club.

Finally, we left a banner in tribute to our friend and Celtic supporter Salah Ajarma, who tragically died last month. A frequent visitor to Glasgow and Celtic Park, Salah met Scott Brown in 2012 when he brought a group of Palestinian refugees, and their flags, to Celtic Park.

The Celtic plc Statement was deliberately misleading and crass. Its absence from any social media platform proves the cowardice of those responsible for it. We are confident that the Celtic support will continue to stand with the people of Palestine. Although we are unwelcome to do so at Celtic Park, we encourage all to join your local solidarity demonstrations.

Yeh I probably worded it wrong
As the previous poster noted that Facebook showed no support for the Palestinian flag issue of yesterday
My point I was trying to make was not that to get a true representation of Celtic fans only those that attend CP can give you that
But
On forums you don’t a true representation of what the fans that do attend CP have as there will be more that don’t attend than those that do, and that is not a slight on those that don’t or can’t attend CP
Hope that’s a bit clearer
I also agree that those that don’t attend have legitimate views even if they differ from those that do attend, and also, even though there are 10’s of 1000’s that don’t attend, they probably still contribute through merchandise, CTV etc, and as such, have as much right to their views on all matters Celtic as those that contribute through buying ST’s

 

I totally get you and wasn’t having a go at you (again wording haha) think posts on here are taken out of the way they’re meant, apologies again in re to your post.

Social media is an absolute minefield, I deleted all apps many years ago as it breeds toxicity on so many levels. At least on boards you have fans of all scopes, with different thoughts. Facebook and the likes is the Wild West of complete nonsense lol

I read your post as it was intended (in my eyes) in that you had a different opinion to the one I put across (albeit not written in the way I intended the meaning to come across)
I suppose (from past experiences of other forums, and reading some threads on here...I am a newbie on here compared to most of the other posters) this sort of accepting others viewpoints, discussing without abuse, and apologising for the slightest error, is not the norm and perhaps next time we should start giving verbals to each other...lol

Wee update (my bro in law lives with his missus in UAE, who’s Lebanese and who’s family are still in Lebanon... 3 rockets fired towards Israel from south Lebanon (Lebanese officials state it’s not hezbollah) but landed in the sea...may be hamas or other militants....her family can now hear Israeli gunships circling overhead...they expect retaliation....worried now as they are saying that Israel may start attacking the sites in Lebanon the rockets were fired from...he also sent a video to my wife of a Palestinian being dragged from his car and attacked by dozens of Israelis...lying unconscious and they are still smashing his head in...wife couldn’t watch video to the end as it’s looking like they continue till he’s dead....can only compare it to Rodney king video but in daylight with loads more taking part in the beating
