    You know what's absolutely priceless when it comes to debates/topics like this?

    Say you'll have the club getting a bad name or whatever because large sections of the support have been singing rebs - you'll get folk coming out with "not real supporters", or "shouldn't be sung at CP" etc, then you'll have guys like myself defending the singers telling these folk that it's tradition, it's been sung for ages etc, then you'll hear stuff like "not everyone has to conform to the same opinion", "the support is changing", "we have different opinions" etc etc.....

    THEN:

    When it comes to stuff like this, the same type of folk who come on here defending their right to lambast supporters like these lot who sing offensive songs, then give it stuff like "Oh, they're not real supporters", or "I'm so offended/embarrassed to be a Celtic fan right now"........eh, geez * peace ya shower a fannies :56::56::56::56:

    I'm not embarrassed by them just disappointed to see they have so many cheerleaders in our support. Like it or not some things are distasteful to many people and having a go at dead folks who aren't here to defend themselves is one. Our support is many and diverse. Try having a different view in some circles and you're either lambasted, jeered or laughed at by some. Doesn't matter whether it's 5 or 5000 singing that song I would feel the same way. I know that they don't speak (or in this case sing) for me or my views and hopefully as a Celtic fan I wont be tarred with that particular brush. I disagree with some of the views on here but I never resort to abusive insults which can't be said for some.

    Well Jeannie, maybe it's time that folk like yourself actually sit and realise that not everyone is the same, or holds the same viewpoint. Are the Celtic support * robots or something? Naw. There are arseholes in every support (including ours) and there are arseholes in every support that pretend to be the moral compass for supporters out there (including in our support).

    Like I said in another thread, where are the threads and posts with such outrage and embarrassment when somecunt is up for murder or something, and they are posted in the papers wearing a Celtic top?

    Surely to * stuff like that is a bit more reason to be embarrassed over a silly song about a serving member of the armed forces being killed by his employer's opposition? Naw?

    Hi, Jeannie. A very thoughtful post as always. I wouldn't argue with you about the Lee Rigby stuff being distasteful and stupid, mate. I think that is correct TBH.
    The thing is, some folk have gone way over the top in their criticism of fellow Celtic fans. Show me someone who didn't do idiotic things when young and full of alcohol and I'll show you a very strange person indeed.

    Your point about how pointless and stupid it was and how we should be trying to knock that nonsense on the head is a good one; on the other hand, the attempts of some posters to disown them as Celtic fans, describe their stupidity as "shameful" and fretting about damage to our BFITW reputation (a ludicrous idea that I personally find more embarrassing than most idiotic singing TBH) is really not IMO.

    If we reach a point where none of our fans are doing idiotic stuff like this, we'll be in trouble, because it will mean we are no longer attracting young fans (well, either that or alcohol will have been made illegal, which might be almost as bad :giggle1:).

    If you read my previous posts on the subject you would see that I would feel sympathy for Anyone who died in such circumstances. I do realise that not everyone is the same....I did say our support were many and diverse. You yourself seem to be having a go a me and others like me for not having the same view as you....does that make you anymore tolerant of other peoples viewpoints than me? Yes there's a minority of idiots and equally a minority of hand wringers. I am neither. I just give my views here like anyone else and don't consider myself a person who's easily persuaded or led by other peoples opinion. I don't care either about what newspapers print as to me they're just sensationalist crap. Anyone with any brain in their head knows the real news is on social media sites and we don't have to pay to read it.
    like I said I'm not embarrassed as I've not done anything to be embarrassed about.

    I get what you're saying of course. Youngsters will do daft things and it's our mistakes in life that become our experience of life. Unfortunately they have to get older like you and me :56:and if anyone showed us a video of the way we behaved at that age we would cringe :52: I'm not trying to lambast our support as a whole or even those that were part of that. I just express my disappointment that it happened at all as there's stupidity and stupidity :56:Like some said you can't take daft ideas out of their heads but fgs to actually video it for posterity. I mean to say how many daft hun videos do we sit and laugh at today.

    The fact that there are arseholes in our support doesn't justify or make that chant any more acceptable though. It's a ridiculous, crass and downright embarrassing chant that just plays into the hands of the media and the EPL fans who use it as a reason to tar us with the same brush.

    What was the reason for the fans chanting this? Was it banter, having a good laugh at some guy from another country with a different opinion being brutally murdered?

    These * have decided that because they are in England, they want to, or feel they have to offend English people, the same attitude as the fans of Sevco.

    See how we reacted to young Bradley? That made me really proud to be a Celtic fan, and fans of other clubs gave us the respect that was due for it. Then a few fans do this and all that good publicity gets forgotten.

    We pride ourselves on the fact that we have a reputation of a great, or the greatest support in the world. The more of these chants and other ridiculous behaviour by some of our fans, the more our reputation will diminish. * stupid behaviour.

    Of course it doesn't :56::56::56:

    I'm calling people arseholes for not having the same opinion as me, and you (and others) are calling people an embarrassment/idiots/scumbags etc for partaking in actions which is contrary to your opinion, so what's the difference?

    I wasn't actually having a go at you, believe it or not. I was just ranting in general.

    What really bugs me is how people hold up our support as somehow being holier than thou? Surely you've met a person who has been an absolute *, and just so happened to support Celtic? Surely you understand that type of person can be met within the ranks of the Celtic support? I know i have....

    I won't argue with that, simply because it's true.

    Listen, there's an old line in a Celtic song that you should think about "we don't care what the animals say.....darn the * do we care?" that goes for anycunt who attempts to blacken our name (both foreign AND domestic) anyone who attempts to slur us, badger us and degrade us, the tabloid rags who make their money from having a go at us on a weekly basis (regardless of truth).

    Who gives a flying *, really? You clearly don't either! The fact that you've taken more interest in a cupla dafties who've sang a daft song over hundreds/thousands of the rest of the fans who've sung a positive song/chant for a wee fella who unfortunately died of cancer, really is quite pathetic.

    Absolutely spot on, when they sing songs like that about another human being, they stop being decent humans themselves.

    See! There ye go!

    You think we can do "better", I really couldn't give a * what others do (unless it involves being a racist wee *!)

    Opinions eh? :56::56:

    No it won't.

    Thing is things like this are just preaching to the converted. Anybody that doesn't like Celtic is going to look at that and just use to back up prejudices they already have; but I very much doubt any of the Sunderland fans that met and had the craic with Celtic fans at the weekend and are going to watch it and just ignore their actual experiences of meeting Celtic fans and think I must have just imagined the vast majority of Celtic fans been sound because now I have seen this video.

    I didn't watch any of Tommy Robinson's videos at the weekend and I haven't watched the video of few kids singing about Rigby as neither really interests me and neither will change the experience I had of going to the game on Saturday.

    Certainly not going to be embarrassed by anything anyone else did.

    You are right I don't give a flying * about what the animals say to tarnish our name, but I do care about our own * morons tarnishing our name.
