The point is, as I am sure you are aware, these songs have seen us fined from UEFA in the past. Using the logic you have displayed throughout this thread re GB actions and fines, anyone singing these songs should have their Celtic supporting credentials questioned given they have put the club into a position whereby we may face a possible fine again. The majority of the stadium clearly took part in these songs last night.

But at least you responded at last, well done.

What part of throwing glass bottles is part of a football match? Why couldn't we get tickets for the away leg? Why was the date moved?.. doesn't sound like it was "just a football match" to linfield.

Again, if you are someone who takes offense to a banner that you want to go charging into the Celtic support then you do not belong at a football match where there are political differences. How many of the fans were there to genuinly support linfield and how many just came to shout abuse at Celtic fans to feel a sense of power?

My point is really that the more this type of stuff happens, the more likely it is to * it up for the whole Celtic support and financially for the club.

I won't lose much sleep over a few chants or banners or whatever, but it'll be a bit * if we start playing behind closed doors or get kicked out of European competition. Literally just because someone wanted to wind a few Huns up. :56:

Is that your base argument, that I'm a troll?

    How pathetic.

Do you want to go back to my original post in that thread and see that I said it would be a narrower win than expected (tick), then re-watch the match and see how the bottles affected us and coincided with the start of our poor performance (tick) and how, as per my prediction we won the 2nd leg comfortably (tick).

The club will feel embarrassed by the banner and UEFA will fine us, that should be enough for people to criticise the GB and insist that they deploy more common sense in future.

But then again, what does a troll know...

I honestly couldn't give a * about them. Why do you want to compare yourself with them? They are the utter dregs of society. Stuck 300 years in the past with hate built in them that they live with every day of their life. I am not saying that our proud Irish heritage should be ignored. Just know the limits that we have and abide by the laws of UEFA. It is their competition after all and it is them that decides what is political and what is not.

And the summary seems to be that it's actually ok for majority of supporters to put the club at risk of a fine as you kinda sorta agree with singing of Republican songs. Kinda sorta seeing where your real motivations lie here.

You just wonder how some of these guys come to be fans of Celtic. It must be through the safety of their living room via the TV as these songs have always been sang loudly and proudly at matches.

They seem to want to sanitise Celtic and remove any semblance of heritage or factor that makes Celtic more than just a football club. Bizarre.

A lot of the time though people project their own opinions on to the club, and cognitive dissonance prevents any fan telling them otherwise.

Most times it probably comes from where you're from and who got you into the club that creates your opinion on certain politics, songs etc.

There's a book called The Gathering Storm which talks about Celtic's links with the British Army in the early days, at one time they were quite strong.

So you could say we're the original Huns, or that maybe our heritage is British... :56: It's pretty * mad considering like.

    I didn't say that.

    I have said that:

    * if we get fined for the banner the GB should contribute to the payment and be forced to have all future displays vetoed by Celtic Football Club.

    * if we get fined for the songs the GB should not be blamed.

*Within reason, certain songs are part of our heritage

We know that certain songs we sing are misinterpreted by the un-inforned - Boys of the Old Brigade for example - and maybe it is the duty of the club to educate such people about what they represent (I remember one idiot in London insisting that The Fields of Athenry was a rebel song that I soon corrected). However, the club can not and will not be able to defend the displaying of a banner glorifying IRA members.

It really is that simple. There's a line, don't cross it.

Was delighted with the atmosphere and banners last night, get it right up the orange *.
Funny how the banners and songs are an issue for us but Linfield sang about killing catholics for 90mins last week and built bonfires with banners and effigies of our players and we are deemed a bigger problem.

My only hope is that UEFA dont punish us for this, but I seen they tweeted that celtic fans were amazing last night.
